U were wrong in many things. Some times if the base line is similar to another song, they'll sue. I think it also depends on how many chords are similar, if both songs are in the same key or tempo, etc. Even if the clip seeming seeming to be copied just a few seconds the original creator can sue them

@@dharmiksamani8258 Anyone associated with art field knows how invaluable the original idea is. Copying others art and tweaking it a bit is thousand times easier than creating your own unique art.
Basically it is not about copyied or inspired , its about where u get the initial idea of composition of the song which is the most important and difficult thing in the first place. When you get the initial push rest of the song making is easy. Also most of the song is written after composition, lyricist write the song by listening to the composition.
Pretty Woman by Shankar Ehsaan Loy was officially declared even before the film released. I think they even took the copyright of the original and I think it was also mentioned in the audio cassette.
About "Pretty Women", if we check the credits of the album, it was mentioned there that this song is inspired by the American Song "Oh Pretty Women". They have given the credits for it properly. I think this was mentioned on their Wikipedia page as well. Infact, even if you check the credits of the official song on KZread, they have very clearly mentioned Roy Obrinson's name as the music composer as well as the lyricist. So no, "Pretty Women" from Kal Ho Naa Ho is not copied, instead is rightfully inspired. And besides, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are just so true to their art and are sooo amazing with their work, it would be absolutely unbelievable if they ever did any such thing. The songs they have given to the industry are just pure gold. It would have been better if Schoop Whoop did their research properly.

An entire song's structure doesn't need to be 'sampled' for it to have the title of 'copied'. I would disagree with your take on "inspired songs". If a director lifts even a single tune or a section as it is without giving the original creator any credit, then the song shouldn't be considered as his/her "original work" even if the rest of the song is originally composed or another instrument is used. I would call it an "inspiration" only when a director makes at least some alterations to the tune he/she is inspired from. If a composer wants to lift the tune as it is, then he/she should do so by giving credits or obtaining permission (as Shankar- Ehsaan - Loy and Vishal-Shekhar did for Pretty Woman and Dildaara, respectively). I think the main issue is not blatantly lifting the songs or sections, but not giving credits to the original creator. On the other hand, some people do get carried away and call similar sounding lines or sections as "copied" even though they're not blatant lifts. Love your content though...

Nope I dont agree with you brother sometimes artists unknowingly “copy” songs because they listen to world music and it gets embeded into their subconscious. Even Tarantino blatantly steals the scenes of other movies and not from a single source and he has accepted it but he will not go around to mention each filmmaker’s name because he adds his creativity to it and takes the “copied “scene to another level. People like you will call that creativity but when some cues and tunes are “copied” from other songs but the arrangement, instrumentation and singing is different then too people will disregard the artists completely. Also I am not justifying blatant plagiarism of songs in Bollywood and I am not naive to the fact that this happens but the whole point of the video was to say that not all the songs that sound a bit similar are copied.

there's a site called splice where creators make their tracks and put them for use by other artists nowadays. i believe it's possible that more than one artist can choose a particular track for their songs and the songs would then end up having some slight similarities. Just because a certain piece of the song ends up having the same rhythm/groove/arpeggios, doesn't mean it's 'copied'. this is what happens when u try to become cool in front of ur friends by throwing some unchecked factssssss in front😂
Dedi is actually an interpolation of the Arabic/Algarian song Didi. That song has been rerendered into many different languages.
1. The dedi song was inspired by Khalid's didi...it was a 90's hit! But the sequence in that movie justified it...they were in the 90's. 2. Shankar Ehshaan Loy had taken official rights for pretty woman. That appears prominently in the album label.
Finally he remembered that he's having a utube channel 🙌
Pretty Woman me not only line, the guitar ka tune bhi inspire kiya hai.. and the reason is correct as u said.. Also, Godfather theme reminds of the song, Tum kya jano dil karta tumse kitna pyaar..

Regarding Pretty Woman, Dharma Productions actually bought rights of the original song so that they could use the tune. Nothing wrong there and the context is bang on what you said. It seems like SRK's character took Pretty WOman as an inspiration and remoulded a hindi song around it, comes off much more realistic. Regarding Dedi, the song you heard is not the original, this song or rather that hook part has been used and reused multiple times and is a common trope to establish an Arabic theme. I agree with your distinction of Copy v Inspired but at the same time, have to admit a lot of songs have been sued for even less than this. Two incidents that come to my mind are 'Bittersweet Symphony' for it's prelude orchestra sued by Rolling Stones, Verve lost the battle and now all the royalty from that song goes to Rolling Stones rather than Verve and they never had a similar success ever. Second is Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice which uses the same hook tune in the beginning as that of Under Pressure by Queen ft David Bowie, rest of the songs are very different but that starting was straight up lifted by Vanilla Ice (there is a hilarious interview where he tries to prove that the tunes are different because he changed the key in one note)

As someone that composes, arranges, produces music, there's a difference between copying and sampling or taking inspiration from a certain song.....music is very limited, there are only 12 notes. Most non-music people are just ignorant of this fact.
Can u please tell which 1990s song's tune "Hue Bechain" of Ek Haseena Thi ek Dewana Tha is copied from?
Thanks for this video many village idiots spamming "copy" with laughing emojis is irritating, nothing can be 100% original.
aside from thw topic of the video i really want another video on old (like the start of the past decade and even before that) cuz man i had forgottten so many of em and listening to them now still makes me feel that ..that.. idk the word ... and they still make me forget the current trending tik tok songs and the present hindi genre...please make stuff about old songs :)

Bro , started watching your channel when you had 5k views ..proud that u have grown
Actually dil cheez tujhe dedi is inspired from Arabic song dedi by khalid, and that song was played in the movie hadh krdi aapne also, during that TV sequence of Govinda
The composition of the song jab koi baat also resambles with an english song 500 miles
Also Raja ko Rani se pyaar ho gaya had a fast paced tempo and it was played at major scale.
You're right. Any similarity is labeled as copied which is not right. As for the Godfather theme, more than Raja ko Rani se pyaar ho gaya, try listening to Tum kya jaano from Aashiq. The chorus is the same.
Last mein jo gaya na aapns muskurahat from gangubai that was really heart touching..aisa classical song jyada famous nahi hota logon mein bt some real classical music lovers can understand the feel of the song♥️
2:10 was epic haha
Man I love ur videos. And I have personally recommended it to a lot a people. But akhir wo din aa hi gayaa when I don't agree with ur views on something. I do agree that to say the whole song is copied in these scenarios will be wrong , bt to leave them saying they were just inspired will be wrong too. Specially when 90% of those songs had copied the best part of those songs from somewhere else. For example the theme tone of Tip Tip , that's the best thing about it and it's copied. Didi song was one of my most fav songs from my childhood , and I was really heartbroken when they copied it. but chalo agree to disagree this time once. Will be waiting for you next video to get back to the path of agreement again 😁

I disagree with him on this one as well, even without reading any article, first time listening to the "dedi" song I quickly recalled "didi" from my childhood, this can't just be a coincidence. Although the whole song is not copied, but copying the hook is no less. But boy, yours is the most respectful disagreement I've ever seen yet.

The first one from Dhoom sounds like a copy to me. Even if rest of the song is different, the tune for the first three lines is identical with the guitar tune in the English song. I think the people who justify this will be okay with it until their own work gets plagiarized.

The main tune of 'Dhoom Machale Dhoom' is also copied from Amar Diab's 'Enta Ma Oltesh Leih'.
Copied borrowed or resembled or just inspiration! Which term suits case to case ???

irony is the guitar in Sarang Hae is somewhat inspired from "Shape of my heart- Stings"
You have such a powerful and soothing voice…. Would like to hear you sing more…. Also your singing of de-di was so so good…. Can feel the harkat notes you bring while singing and its perfectly in sync….
You are so great. Really enjoying your videos ❤️❤️
The Godfather Theme resembles "Tum kya jaano dil karta" from Aashiq, not Raja ko Rani se pyaar ho gaya, although composition is different the tune is the same
i even heard the tune in "mere rang mein rangne wali" and "the final countdown" by London Symphony Orchestra is the same
Pretty Woman’s rights were officially bought by Dharma Productions for Kal Ho Naa Ho…and it’s antara melody is same as the original with a few melodic changes in Mukhda.
3:48 No. You cant call that sampling . Sampling is when you take am original piece of audio , turn it into something else or build another track on that original audio by creating a loop .

I am sure you have a lot of music sense and consider yourself some sort of an expert and so all the upcoming music composers will get very inspired after watching this video of yours. And by the way if a music composer can pick up a existing tune and not even change it a little bit then every idiot can call themselves composers by simply copying any song as it is and call it their own composition. So good that you have inspired all music composers to make inspired music proudly👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Much needed video, I am from a background of Literature student, there is a theory given by Aristotle and Plato which was called MIMESIS that means Imitation and its an important thing in an art, whether Literature or music Even great poets like Chaucher who is considered as father of English Poetry at first copied much from Italian renessaince poets but still he used something of his own that was his excellent narrative skill, then later he produced his own Masterpiece "Canterbury Tales" which was his original idea even in that too somethings are taken, Even Shakespeare got inspired by many but he made it his own, thats called Art, you can take a thing but to make it an original is on yours. Sau baat ki ek baat Even Imitation actually helps an artist so he can learn and explore and discover, hnn it should not be copied just as it like pritam did with Paheli nazar me song but still there is much thing in music like Composition, choosing of instruments, Arrangements, beat patterns or percussions, so I agree you can't say this one is copied, it certainly shows you are a layman if you say so.

English literature?

Unfortunately, in spite of having a background in literature, you seem to be misguided about the entire purport of Mimesis. When Aristotle mentioned it, he did not mean that art is an imitation of other art, he meant that art is an imitation of life, meaning art is a mimetic representation of reality, truth, fact, etc. A more refined version of the same is from the domain of design, when someone like Bruno Munari says 'form follows function'. Secondly, Plato is in fact criticized for the theory of Mimesis as it fails to account for the originality that adds a distinct flavour to the art that is missing in reality itself. It's quite rich to call others ignorant when you may not have properly looked at the subject of discussion yourself. :)

@@museruse1 i guess you are not able to understand what i said anything there, and just started giving unnecessary Textual readings of Mimesis here, also I ll suggest you first talk in context and instead of finding faults in others, first try to comprehend something. Plato was the one who introduced the word Mimesis but havent you used your mind how Aristotle replied to it Whatever you stated about mimesis is right and FYI I know that but first read my comment carefully here i am using of Mimesis in different context, that how it helps a new artist as GB shaw said Imitation is the sincerest form of Learning. Art is certainly not an Imitation of other art, when did I say that, Aristotle firstly say by defending mimesis that It's feel a great pleasure in Imitation and this is the reason why babies love to imitate and this Imitation is the way of Learning new things. my argument is limited to this only, i haven't started talking about Other things cuz its not much familiar here about how Art is a representation of life, reality etc. I am more interested it how Mimesis helps an artist to understand Art and then explore it , i guess you haven't read chaucer, how he used the techniques of Boccaccio, petrarch, dante in his early works, even look at all those earlier works of him. This is why great poets and dramatist have used Imitation to learn first. In literature that Imitation can be of Narrative style, meters, but as i have said, it shouldn't be as similar as simply like copying it, there is something like honest imitation and I guess you haven't read the later part of my comment, and ya Aristotle was saying this that Imitation gives pleasure but I haven't said his arguments or analysis of mimises Not only Aristotle, many great thinkers came and talked about Imitation. dude use your mind, Its Imitation that makes us to learn new things. If you have had read the history of literature, you would not have given such a layman reply starting with ad hominem, Grow up

@@rishabhrockstar5739 And there you go again calling people names... Interesting that you mention 'ad hominem'. Well, calling people names to prove yourself right, or giving angry word ejaculations devoid of meaning in the answers is a textbook example of 'argumentum ad lapidem' or 'ad lapidem' arguments. Secondly, by talking about Aristotle and Plato, and later about George Bernard Shaw, you are the one who is giving ad hominem arguments, man. Your accusations to me don't even make sense. Let me explain it to you simply now, for you to understand easily. In the context of this video, (as you asked for context (though it should have been abundantly clear) I submit that imitation of smaller parts doesn't mean it's not imitation. Imitating someone else's creation without attribution is called plagiarism. The quantum of imitation is irrelevant. Just because imitation has been done in the past, or it gives pleasure, or some renowned philosophers think it's ok doesn't automatically make it right. Honest imitation would include citations of sources. If you really believed you could argue with logic and rationality, you wouldn't have gotten so triggered at someone's disagreement. I'd urge you to please understand the ingredients of a healthy discussion. :) Finally, please don't ask me to grow up, I'm happy as I am. :)
