Do proper burnouts and donuts before discarding the old tires.

Spillow ...Good advice. You are a wise man indeed.
Just because you bought the car New in 2014 doesn’t mean the tires were made and put onto the car in 2014. They were probably sitting in a warehouse for a few months in 2012 before going to the manufacture who made the car in 2013

How about spare tires, when to replace? Don't hear too much about people replacing those. Mine is almost 20 years old, in the trunk.

KJ Every tire, including spares, have a manufacture date code, such as 1715. This would be the 17th week of 2015. It's recommended that even if a tire shows all signs of being ok, you should still replace them once 6 years after the manufacture date.

I would say 10 years on a spare that is inside the car and protected from sun and dirt. But I don’t know of a specific recommendation from an OEM about it.

same with me, my 1999 5 series has a spare tyre from 1998, The tyre place said as a spare it's fine, and just treat it like having a space saver as the grip levels will be similar, and get your normal tyres back on as quickly as possible
Thanks to Cooley, I learnt something new and important about my car!
I understand that rubber has oils that get tend to spread around when you flex it. Not sure if this applies to tires. It could be the reason why sneakers that are left in the shelf have soles that break apart while sneakers of the same age that you constantly use tend to have pliable, albeit worn, soles.
The worst is when someone is selling an older collector vehicle, maybe 30 years old, and the tires are only the second set, let’s say they’re 20 years old. But the asking price might be $20k. I’m gonna offer $400-700 less so I can put on a fresh set immediately. Not to mention a full “tune up”. Anyway, 7 years old is the industry standard for replacement, regardless of mileage. The tire carcass is compromised by then.
In the Middle East the max tire age is 4 years after that it starts to Dry rot like crazy.
very helpful
I'm so glad living in middle europe germany! Tires last here up to 10 years before they harden or crack. Thx to the mild weather! ;)
How cool you drive a crown vic!!

Anybody know of any good tire spray product to help coat tires and reduce UV damage?
Good to know, now I'm gonna check the manufacturing date of every car I can get my hands on.
Only Cooley can make a Ford Crown Vic look cool.
XD, the spare tire in my 1999 5 series has a tire code indicating it's from 1998 with it's old 3 number code
Hey Brian, I recently bought a 2004 Jaguar X-type with only 38,000 miles on the clock. Jaguar states that the transmission fluid does not need to be changed at all. My concern is that although it is a low mileage car, does the transmission fluid need to be replaced after 15 years? That goes to the accessory belt and other parts of the car that "mileage wise" need no change yet (according to the service book), but "time wise" should they be changed after 15 years regardless of the mileage?

It absolutely needs to be changed. No ands ifs or buts about it. It degrades over time.

Don't be cheap on tires, it's more expensive to get towed if you get a blow out and cause an accident. Years ago I saw a mini truck of some handyman blow out a rear tire on a truck and swerve 3 lanes to the center divider taking out a motorcycle.
Just because the tire salesman isn't lying doesn't mean he's not being totally honest with you

Why I start to feel I hate owning a car!! It's not fun anymore. It's beginning to be annoying thing to own
@marco1173

That's why I gave up on owning. Now I only lease.
If you haven't worn the tyre out in 10 years is it worth the expense of keeping the car? AND you don't wait until it's Bald, virtually every car manufacturer recommends changing at 3 mm.

If you're collecting it yes.
Hmmm, my tires are 12 years old. I may need new ones
I hear never use a tyres more then 5 years old from the manufacturing date... Even though it still have tyre threats left....
Bring your pocket knife and make sure you cut some gashes in the sidewall before you let them dispose of the old tires that still have good tread or they will sell them to someone else as used tires.

guess what, most people will still doesnt really care and ignore your message. And keep on driving with those old rotten tires and having a crash, then blaming someone why the tire has failed
Good TREAD, I'm keeping the tires,. I'm surprise he didn't mention maintaining proper tire pressure Because a lot of people don't check that Which plays a big part in tire wear
