I think he misspoke. I think he meant 500mg (about two pills) instead of 5,000. ****Actually, on another short he says it’s 100mg for every 10 pounds.

For my 23lb dog it was recommended 12 250mg pills that I had so 3000mg for him so he’s right depending on the size of the dog

My cat consumed a quarter of an avocado and also some of the skin and I have heard the skin especially is toxic for the cat ..my cat weighs 10.5 pounds. The 4 hour window has passed and I'm worried that he will start vomiting again and having diarrhea. The last time he did something like this he cost me $2000 between ultrasounds and blood work and medication. So far I have not observed any vomiting or diarrhea but it's only been about 4 hours. I hope to God that his consumption of some of the skin of the avocado and the amount of avocado fleshy part that he ate does not make him sick. The last time he got a little bit into the trash and also had avocado he got pancreatitis and gastroenteritis.

I think he is wrong in his math.. he says 5000 mg .. but 2 of those pills that i just bought are 260 mg each , so for 2 is 520 mg. One average cat of 10 pounds would get 2 of those pills just like in the video. but if i was going by the math of 5000mg instead of 520 mg which those 2 pills equate to ... I would have to give my 10 pound cat 10 times 2 pills = 20 pills. something is off with his math.

You can buy any brand. Charcoal it is simply charcoal. I usually buy bulletproof charcoal.

My puppy just got intoxicated I took him to the vet but they can’t do anything only gave him a few shots so he could breathe

Sure. That will probably be more effective then the tablet form. But it will be really thick like the charcoal they give to humans in the hospital.

Compost is toxic?

I somehow managed to train my dogs to eat charcoal tablets 😂, every time they eat somthing sus, i just leave the pill on my hand and they eat it 😮

Just a question is this a alternative to the peroxide method or is it slightly different? I've had to use the peroxide method a couple of times once was because my dog had eaten gum. Would this work as well?

Well I tried peroxide on my dog once for her eating a fruit I wasn’t sure was safe she will not let me near her with a dropper anymore

Yes a big difference. Peroxide only makes them puke it dont absorb the toxin. So if yoyr pet accidentally ingest or comes into contact with fly spray. Peroxide doesnt help. Charcoal does

You see that he gave 2 pills, those same size pills each is 260 mg, for 2 its 520 mg. So it is not 5000 mg, but 500 mg. for 10 pound animal.

I was always told not to give activated charcoal because all it does is suppress the poison into the system

There could be some specific poisons, (maybe?), that could react with the charcoal. This is something that is used widely, for people too, poisonings, overdoses, etc. They have "tea bags" of it on a string that they will put in the stomach, and then back out through the mouth, but 99.9% of the time the idea is it does suppress the toxin and contains it until it comes out the other end. I am sure some would come back out of the charcoal lower in the bowels, but it's release into the body is slowed, and spread out over a longer time.

Compost is toxic? We've just started composting.

10,000 mg? All the ones I see are about 250mg capsules. So a 20lb dog needs 40 pills?

Maybe those are different tablets, with a different concentration. Read the leaflet from your tablet.

@@kathidori8504 Thanks, but there are no leaflets in supplement bottles. The strength is on the outside of the bottle. I know the strength. Just wondering where the doc found 5000mg capsules of charcoal.
