As an Ontarian, the U of T gag was the biggest laugh for me this whole season!

Father,grandfather here and I can vouch for George's reaction!!! We have " backed away " from a few situations for sure!

This is even more hilarious when you remember that episode of TBBT when Sheldon decided San Diego was too dangerous and decided to move to Montana. Almost the exact same thing happened. Got off the plane and got right back on again 😂

The thing is Stephen Hawking did his degree at Oxford, then his PhD at Cambridge both of which are in England. He was only a visiting Professor for I believe a year at Caltech in 1974 which is not really bragging rights. Seems something of a major slip up by the writers. Richard Feynman is a *MUCH* and I mean *MUCH* bigger deal than Hawking, and is an American and was at Caltech though he did his degree at MIT and spent some time at Cornell. To be honest as a physicist Feynman is a *MUCH* bigger deal than Hawking period and I say that without hesitation even though I am British. I guess that is what happens when you employ liberal arts people to write science stuff.

not ready for these final weeks of the show especially for George

1:13 Actually, he essentially is. Anyone that's a star is going to be a prize that people want. A star athlete is wanted by lots of teams. A gorgeous model is wanted by lots of modeling agencies. And in this case, a star academic is wanted by a lot of schools. It's good. George and Mary tried to make this about themselves. Sheldon doesn't care about political parties or churches. He doesn't want the state where he was born and raised to define him. It's not like he had any control over that. Why was Missy involved in the conversation? I don't blame Sheldon. I grew up in Maryland, where I'm used to cold weather and snow, and I'm not a fan of it. Imagine how hard it is for someone who's never seen snow in person before. Dealing with that would have been a MAJOR struggle for Sheldon, if it didn't kill him in some way. This is by far the best episode of season 7 so far! The show got back to its roots, being mostly about Sheldon. And though there was a subplot with Georgie, it was just that: a subplot that got considerably less screen time. That's how it's supposed to be. A minor subplot about a side character is okay, but the focus is supposed to be on Sheldon. He's what's been making CBS the network to watch at 8 PM on Thursdays for the last 15 years. Keep the focus on him until this show is over... and then do whatever you want with that spin-off that I probably won't watch. Last week's episode was good too. The middle part of this season hadn't been looking great. The first few episodes after Sheldon and Mary got home from Germany were making me almost ambivalent about Thursdays at 8 PM, a feeling I'm not used to. But last week's episode was excellent and this week's episode is one of the all-time best. The downside is I think this will be the last time we ever see Dr. Sturgis, Dr. Linkletter, and President Hagemeyer.

Wow what a great and insightful comment! I do wonder why Sheldon wanted to go to MIT. Throughout the Big Bang theory Sheldon has made fun of MIT all the time and made fun of Howard for attending MIT. Also in the young Sheldon show there was an episode where he was still in high school and a counselor suggested MIT, and Sheldon was disgusted by MIT. Maybe he has been making fun of Howard and MIT all this time out of regret/jealousy?

I know it would have been pure fanservice, but I wish there was a scene at the end in California, where George is waiting for Sheldon alone or something like that, when a young girl comes by and George asks if she too is studying at Caltech. She answers she would rather study at Harvard and is just doing research for her biology project for school. Only the audience would know George just met his future daughter in-law, and this would stay true to canon since Sheldon never knew about this. I think this would have been an amazing powerful scene for the final season. But it is just an idea...

This explains his attitude towards Howard. He has been jealous of him all these years.
