Growing up, I didn't even realize that "Chinatown" had anything to do with China at all. I thought they'd just thrown words together at random to come up with names for the different parts of the cities. The thought that there would be an entire community of people from just one country-of-origin never crossed my mind.

  • @lazrseagull54

The phenomenon of "curse words" didn't start until about 1500 years after the events of the new testament and the bible doesn't actually have a list of good words and bad words. What's important is how you felt in your heart when you uttered it. The bible passages that are used to discredit "curse words" by modern day people actually refer to ill intended speech, regardless of which words were or weren't used in said speech. "Your mother is ugly and I hope she dies" would be considered cursing according to those passages even though this statement doesn't contain anything our culture would consider "curse words". Telling a chef "this pizza is fucking delicious!" wouldn't be considered cursing in a biblical sense.

Only watch for entertainment bec I love the Amish country so I really don't care if they left and have been out awhile or as someone mentioned, that they 'might' even be actors. Either way and that being said, I just don't judge the Amish and hope TLC never present them in in a way to be riduculed either

I wonder if you know that many Amish women are victims of S.A. and violence, too often by their own brothers.

@@EYE_GOTCHA like in many other communities: Catholics, Muslims, Jews, extreme neopenthecostal sects, Scientologists and other "alternative" cults etc. IS there any research showing any disproportionate incidence of sexual violence among the Amish comparate to the mainstream society? I am not aware of it.

Honestly I don’t think NY is the best place for young amish people to go especially because they don’t know much about the “English world” I feel like something bad could happen to some of them.. especially in NY..

This was kinda hard to watch... you can tell it’s directed/scripted/fake. I mean, pretty much all “reality” TV is but this was too obvious. Not believable.

It's beyond obvious that these people are not real Amish. They are simply very poor actors trying to pass themselves off as Amish. Go to Indiana or Ohio if you want to see what REAL Amish people are like.
