Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Queen's Park Swizzle is a cocktail that should be MORE famous than it is. It originated at the Queen's Park Hotel in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago and harkens back a type of drink that even pre-dates the cocktail! It's named after a very special tool... AND, I give you my own twist on the cocktail. Let's make the Swizzle famous!

I had my first QPS at Sunken Harbor last month and it blew my mind how something so simple could be so good. I agree, I would take it over a mojito 10 times out of 10!

Leandro, thanks for sharing your QPS spec and more importantly thanks for sharing the riff you have created after much trial and error. We all have our riffs on the classics that are fine tuned to our palates. Great to see the classic spec side-by-side with your riff for a change of pace. The video format is terrific.

Both drinks look incredible, definitely going to try and find both kinds of rums and bitters. Keep up the amazing videos. Would also love to see you do a continuation on the zombie cocktail video, (would’ve been awesome on Halloween.) and a video showcasing variations on the Long Island ice tea. Keep up the incredible work Leandro.

I've been making mojitos with funky Jamaican rum for years, I never thought to add Angustura. I'll have to give that a try.

Great video. It stands along with other content creators spreading the word about this drink. However, I think all of these recent QPS videos are making a mistake in declaring that this drink is "better" than a Mojito. In my experience, this claim doesn't stand up because the QPS and Mojito are two different drinks that do two different things. And this stems from some misunderstandings about what a Mojito is and is not. Specifically, a Mojito is a Collins. The base spirit is light rum, the citrus is lime, the mint element is added as flavoring, and it is to be served long over cubed or cracked ice with enough room left in the glass to be topped with an amount of soda resulting in some effervescence. A Mojito properly made this way is then to be consumed while still alive and singing, that is, before the soda's effervescence fizzes out, quickly. We can now see the crucial difference: a QPS wants to be consumed slowly, and the crushed ice allows for this, as the drink results in an evolution wherein the dilution from the ice and the slow incorporation of the bitters takes place. There is also no soda water doing any fizzing because a QPS is essentially a play on the classic punch formula, not at all a member of the Collins family. All this considered, I think it's a mistake to pit the Mojito against the QPS and declare one "better" than the other. They are both phenomenal cocktails that do their respective things incredibly well, but different in both terms of execution and consumption. Cheers!

What are some potential subs for the Angostura rum in your riff? I can’t find that rum locally. I love the QPS (and totally agree with the QPS > Mojito argument having formerly loved that drink as well) so I want to try the riff. Orange, chocolate and Ango sounds like an amazing flavor combination.

I literally brought my own Lewis bag to my last job several nights so that when people asked for a whim I could just make them queens park swizzles. They were always a hit! Side Question: As an aspiring creator and financially struggling bartender I really hope to get my content as strong as creators like yourself and others that have found a stable modicum of success. My question is: Did you start making content/ bar videos while still bartending? How long was it until you made the full switch? Thanks if you have the time to answer. Love the work and long-form videos.
