Coffee is a nightcap.
Head's up, recipe list shows a Russian Spring Punch instead of Old Cuban. This is a crazy good list, very excited for all 4 I haven't made yet. Rare for a list video to go 100% on drinks that really pique my interest. I think the minds behind them helped. All pretty approachable too. Thanks, cheers!

And even the Russian Spring Punch would be an excellent addition to anyone's repertoire. Although, Old Cuban is a house favourite here, so I am a bit biased :D
I’ve watched zillions of cocktail videos on youtube and this is the first one where I want to literally make every single cocktail showcased. Five out of five look fantastic.
Love me a Cable Car, usually don’t get myself spiced rums so I make a spice syrup to sub the simple (usually cinnamon and vanilla and a few cloves) regular rum (Don Q Gold usually) and it is *chef’s kiss*! Great vid as always! 🎉
I probably should have pinned this the moment this video went live but in the Bourbon Renewal recipe I subbed out the crème de Casis for the house made crème de Mûre I did a while back. Thought the extra notes of wine and botanicals would do well for the Bourbkn Renewal. I did not mention it in the video (not sure why 😂) and I didn’t rename the cocktail, not sure if it’s different enough to be truly something different, but it was a very good sub. I’ve made this cocktail maybe six times on this channel and I like to offer a small riff or something new for ya’ll when I do.

I believe the Bourbon Renewal also calls for Angostura bitters. One of my favorite drinks. I've also found it to be just fine with Creme de Mure.

I wondered as I watched.... Mine, made as called for with Creme de Cassis, seem to have a real nice "plummy" note to them. By the way, speaking about adding preserves or marmalade, I learned in a Florentine bar one terrific afternoon to use orange marmalade in a whiskey sour, yum!

Variation experimentation is more than welcome! I had just bought a ruby port wine for the first time (cause why not) and actually subbed it in the for the creme de XXX as I was surprised how sweet and berry like it was, turned out fantastic!
That cosmonaut is delicious! I had to make it with strawberry preserves instead, but I garnished with three fresh raspberries. Sooooo good!
I’m very excited about these drinks, thank you!
Ready to head into a holiday weekend of cocktail experimentation. Thanks for the awesome ideas
Love it! Thanks for showcasing these
Using jam in place of simple syrup is such a great way to switch up the flavour profile. Love the channel!

Great video! Inspired to make some of these! Thank you 🤗
I love The Dominicana. I used Flor de cana 7 years and I was blown away the first time I tried it. Thanks for the other suggestions. Quite sure at least a few will join my home summer menu. Cheers!
I made the Cosmonaut yesterday with strawberry preserves. Delicious! Since strawberry and basil go well together, I was thinking of making the Cosmonaut with strawberry preserves and muddling a bit of basil in the shaker (like the Gin-Basil Smash).
Your last advice about trying all different variations and recipes is gold !
Yes! I LOVE the Old Cuban, thanks for sharing it!

I like the complexity level of all these cocktails. It's what I would make at home or for friends.
Interesting coincidence, just made a cable car as well! The rare spiced rum cocktail is always enjoyable, this one might be one of my new favorites. I'll have to try preserves in cocktails too. Thanks!
Wow- this is a keeper episode! Sometimes I wanna get fancy and all these meet my palate right where it lives! Well done sir.
This is a great series

Love the Dominican Rum! It’s overlooked always, but is great.
They all look really tasty!

Chef's kiss is darn right
Bonne Maman are the preserves originally used in the cosmonaut. Literally just got some as I work my way through Regarding Cocktails.
All amazing cocktails! Not quite sure I'm going to order a drink that contains preserves at a bar unless I want to get death stares lol but interesting concept to try at home :)

Seems like a Cosmonaut and a Clover Club are quite similar - modulo the egg white. I save the solids when I make raspberry syrup for topping yoghurt or pancakes. Likely worth a try in the Cosmonaut. And I have the homemade crème de mure (your recipe) so can’t wait to try the Bourbon Renewal. Thanks!
Hmm, may try the Cosmonaut with some fig preserves
Wow, the Old Cuban is fantastic! I may never order another mojito again. I was too cheap to pop some bubbly, so I just topped with soda, but it was still great.

I tried it with the champagne tonight and that really did add a lot of additional flavour and effervescence. Fantastic drink, thanks for sharing.
1 oz. Ol’ Smokey’s Apple pie moonshine, 1 oz. Dissarono, 1 egg white.
Nice!
Looks like I'm going to love the Dominica. I noticed you're using more rum brands from the big companies. Any chance you'll feature stuff like Hampden or Veritas or Hamilton rums?
Between the Breakfast Martini, Steve The Bartender's King's Breakfast, and the Cosmonaut, I think I'm feeling the itch to play around with more variations on gin & jam--my jar of Apricot preserves wants in on the fun!🍓🍋🍑

@The Educated Barfly did it! Apricot preserves were chunkier than raspberry, might try a whip shake next time to break them up some more!
If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend adding an orange spiral to your cable car the next time you make it, since it really enhances the orange notes from the curaçao.
Nice to see st lucia spice rum
I think you wanted crème de cassis for the Bourbon Renewal, but blackberry works, too.

We've actually got our own version of the Bourbon Renewal at our restaurant created by one of our bartenders. Uses bourbon, mure, raspberry syrup, lemon juice and a bit of Fernet Branca. Called a 'Bramble On', named after the Led Zeppelin song 'Ramble On' (being a "Bramble' riff & everything).

@@TheEducatedBarfly I didn't read the title, I watched the video and it didn't say what it was (Leandro's Riff). It's just one of my favorite bourbon cocktails and I know it well)))
Odd video edits here.
I agree with the "don't get stuck on traditionalism" deal but traditionalism has its place. I'm more in the middle here. As I was taught a while back, the specific ingredients in a cocktail are what the drink's name is all about. The name refers to a very particular flavor profile, so the name-to-ingredients list matters a lot in my book. You're free to change the ratios of the ingredients to your liking but it becomes a new drink altogether when you change the ingredients themselves. I personally give a grudging pass to "close enough" substitutions if you were shorthanded on the required ingredients. There is a point where you take it too far, and that stifles creativity. Don't be afraid to experiment and create new drinks. you may end up making the next modern classic, but also remember to respect tradition when you are making a specific established drink. If you make an offshoot or riff, give it a new name! The new name not only distinguishes your riff but also prevents confusion from the scenario of several recipes overlapping on one name.
First!
