Join us for our premiere of Tintin's story - a neglected foal and his mother, Snowy. World Horse Welfare Field Officer Becky Bedson couldn't believe what she saw on Tintin's little hoof when they were able to inspect him closely. This horse rescue story outlines how we believe Tintin ended up in this situation and what happened next to Tintin and Snowy.

This is such a beautiful video and what is even more exciting is Tin Tin was one of the names I would call my youngest son. My son passed away in 2021 and he was only 25 yr old . Hearing his nickname once again brought me to happy tears. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!The horses look awesome!! Thanks to everyone who helped these beautiful precious horses. God Bless

I rescued a foal that had stepped through a tin can in Newfoundland back in the 60s. Horses ran free at that time and hung out at the dump in the early spring, before grass was growing. I had to catch the mare, tie her up and drop the foal so I could cut the can off its fetlock. He had picked up a can with both ends removed then started growing! I was only about 12 at the time! The foal was unharmed!

Amazing work TY for the share. I rescued a porcupine from a bean can once, his head got stuck inside. Quite a fun experience talking him into staying calm as I pinned the can to the ground with a large stick until he wiggled himself free. Stop littering plz & TY, Mother Earth and all life here needs us to keep it clean.

Looks like cob ponies, not purebred anything. The foal does have quite a long coat, but cold blooded breeds of ponies certainly do get shaggy in the winter. They’re often brushed out & clipped by owners, so that could be why you haven’t seen such hairy horses before

What breed are they? I've seen fluffy ponies before and Icelandic ponies before but have never seen ponies with long hair like that! They are absolutely beautiful and I love the mustache the mom has on her lip omg soooo cute! To think of horses living in a field full of garbage and never being checked on, especially one with a foal, boggles my mind. Horse owners are so across the board (I guess that goes for human nature and all pet owners). To think of ignoring my horses doesn't even register I'm my mind. I wonder if the owners even knew she had a foal! Maybe they didn't even know she was pregnant. When I was growing up we had a neighbor couple who were elderly. They were the kindest people. The husband was an artist with a BEAUTIFUL huge studio loft in the dream home they had built that had a barn on the same side as his floor to ceiling windows that made up the entire wall. They bought a horse and, me being a competition eventer I was shocked and wondered why. He painted that horse over and over and over again. That's why they got the horse. It was really sweet. I wish the horse had a friend but he cherished his muse. I LOVED that couple and would ride my horses over there and tie them to a tree in their friend yard and shed cone running out inviting me in for freshly baked goodies. She was baking constantly. I don't know why this made me think of that. Maybe just because they had thus horse in a paddock that did nothing but stand around all day long. I felt bad for the horse and offered to help them with him and they said no, they were happy with him just being there. He was cared for, in the sense he was fed and loved on a bit but is that enough? Not in my opinion. But.....that's me. I always think a horse should have a companion. And should have turnout time if possible. The horse didn't know it, and they knew nothing about horses, but the horse was deeply loved.

We had this happen to one of our yearling thoroughbred fillies back in the 1970’s. Must have been one tin can that happened to be in a ten acre paddock in which our filly was agisted….but that’s thoroughbreds for you. Anyway, we caught her; removed the tin can; examined the hoof and once we were sure she was uninjured, let her go and she was perfectly fine. We walked the paddock from end to end but there wasn’t any other object to be found.

I had a 1,100 pound Clydesdale mixed mare that was quite good at getting herself into trouble. Once she got an old, short, fat coffee can stuck on her hind hoof, it was easy enough to remove. Then she decided to fight with a yearling calf and slipped, went down on her side and slid, winding up with her head stuck under our raised water trough. Had to empty the trough and move it to get her out. Then I was doing dishes, AFTER feeding the stock, and noticed her just standing very close to the fence. Didn’t think too much of it because there was a nice shade tree just by the fence that she liked to be under. An hour or so later, she was still there, and in the same exact position. I went to check on her, only to find that she had somehow managed to get her off hind leg stuck between the 41/2 foot high top wire of the field fence and the next lower wire, in the square formed by them. The square was stretched completely to the wires on each side of, and the one under the part she was in. I tried to push the wire down, but the fence was to tight. It would be hours before my husband got back, so it couldn’t wait. I had to get the fencing pliers and the small bolt cutter( the top wire was too heavy for the pliers) and a 12 foot piece of fence. Then I cut the bottom wire on both sides, a space away from her leg, alternating all the way up till the top , finally getting the fence loose from the rest of the fence. Then I cut the small wires to completely free her. She then turned and gave that look of ‘took you long enough’, snorted her displeasure and went to graze her mood away. While I had to repair the fence so the rest of the livestock wouldn’t get out.
