You Won't Believe This Baby Tortoise Is Alive!!!

Our female tortoise Tinkerbelle laid five eggs. All four of the eggs hatched within 3 months....expect one egg. People told us it was a bad egg and to throw the egg away. One month and two weeks after our first baby Sulcata Tortoise hatched, baby tortoise Number 5 hatched. (Named number 5 because he was the fifth egg to hatch.) Unfortunately, Number 5 had a rough start to life. For one, an egg shell was stuck to his eye. After I helped him by removing the egg shell, it was apparent something else was terribly wrong. After day three of hatching (which took longer than any of our other tortoises) I noticed Number 5's shell was severely deformed. It looked like someone had stomped Number 5's shell in half. I was worried my baby tortoise would not survive. Number 5's egg yolk sac was also stuck to the egg shell. Baby tortoises are born with an egg yolk sac. It's made of soft tissue and gives the baby tortoise nutrients during the first few days of life. It's then absorbed into the body within a week's time. Unfortunately, the egg yolk sac was preventing Baby Tortoise Number 5 from hatching being stuck to the egg shell. I decided to soak my baby tortoise in lukewarm water to soften the shell and tissue. After it detached from the egg shell, I noticed the the yolk sac was ruptured and bleeding. This was a serious problem for our baby tortoise! So glad number 5 is ok now! He is such a fighter with his past. So sorry about tinkerbell Corbin it is sad for all but she left behind the legacy of the babys so in them, we will find her. She had a place in all our hearts and she shall never for forgotten. R.I.P Tinkerbell we will never forget you
