The car will have most of its depreciation in the first year, so you could get a perfectly good example at a year or two old with low miles.

Yeah we get ripped off here, We have a luxury car tax at around $80,000+ That was implemented to save the Australian car industry, but that died in 2017. Now they leave the tax on to fund raise their pockets while we get ripped off.!

Malaysia too, I think it worked , local makers Proton and Perodua thrived through the 2000's and have expanded well enough. The duty tax is still ridiculous, I dont think that will change.

Actually in Switzerland fines for excessive contraventions are not only based on income, but worldwide wealth. (Just like our taxes) Otherwise the fines are manageable (Unless you are being a tool). They also reduce the speed by 5km/h on the fine, so if you are 8km/h over your fine will be based on 3km/h over. Modifications are also not allowed, unless they are homologated, which is a process! I could put an exhause on my car, but would need to swap back the original for any mandatory tests and if the police catch you it's a big problem!

While luxury and sports cars are much more expensive in Australia, the average new family car that the vast majority of Australians and Brits actually buy are cheaper in Australia. In fact the Qashqai (appreciating not a great car by any means but makes the point) while made in Sunderland UK is cheaper to buy new in Australia than the UK. Add the fact the median Aussie salary is also higher than the UK, and the cars most people buy are far less expensive in real terms.

Same car back in Australia no doubt he'll of alot cheaper. If GM hadn't charged so much for them im sure far more would have sold as they are great as a quirky sportscar and go like f--k.

Swiss fines are only based on your salary if your infraction is "second degree". As in, if they consider you've done something endangering traffic. You wont get a big fine for 5kph over. But (experience made....) will be massively punished for driving with worn out tyres.

Problem with america-style "Monster trucks" is that idiotic straight axle. They put all this effort into raising them up high, but that insane axle is still there so you achieve nothing. No higher ground clearance. You are still dragging that differential along the ground. Its the most america-dumb thing in the world. Look at meee. Im just using more fuel and have made my car heavier for NO reason.
