What would you recommend for creek fishing? Especially here in Indiana. I am thinking of fishing a local creek for the first time. But not sure if I have something that really will generate bites.

The 75size choppo is the best prop bait ever made. And you have to know this if you’re as thick headed as me when it comes to throwing a plopper a lot. There’s so much more you can do with the 75berkley that you just can’t achieve with any other size of any other brand. Pop it, twitch it, pull it a couple feet n pause,,twitch twitch pause, looks like baitfish busting the surface or a struggling baitfish. I’ve pulled up two 6lb+ smallmouth this week on the Mohawk River Amsterdam NY with it, but have caught 100s that are in the 3-5 pound category. As soo as it hits the water u just pull a couple feet and stop it, if nothing give it maybe a couple pops, 9/10 times you’ll get nailed on that. The straight retrieve works too but I’ve just caught a 14lb 39 inch pike and a handful of 4-5lb smallmouth plus 2 over 6, just this week. And I’ve been doing it for a couple years now. Only the Berkeley 75, not the R2sea 75, that’s way heavier and tends to roll on its side. There’s nothing that’s better than the 75 in ways you can aggravate the fish to bite.

Woah, don't go making comments like that! If you keep that up people might figure out that fish still hammer unpainted corks with hooks bolted through them or bite "antiques" like spoonplugs and even traditional bait! Don't get me wrong. I'm a lure junkie for sure, but I don't have any illusions about it.

I was using a Berkeley choppo last night from the bank. 2nd cast being parallel to the bank hooked into my first ever Muskie! 40 inches. Last September same choppo got me my PB large mouth of 7.3 up here in Minnesota! Think it's time to retire her lol. Thanks for all the videos Tyler, they have helped me land so many fish! God bless!

Color to your region, river, lake is key. Use a other then clear or silver bottom on my river get very few bites. Use silver/chrome or clear get 30 bites like clockwork. Same with rebel pop-r Betts bass bug popper any other then chartreuse is a no go but chartreuse will slay daily smallmouth-red eyes every few cast. Gotta find the number 1 bass bugs or can't cast em but if you find em they own smallmouth

Started throwing the Choppo 90 this spring and it has caught me more bass than anything else I’ve thrown this year. I’ve mixed in the 105 lately and still catching them. I fish ponds from the bank and almost always start with the bone Choppo. If I start with other baits and I’m getting skunked the Choppo goes on and I rarely get skunked on it. The virtually instant start up is huge. Most of my Choppo fish hit it within 3 feet or so after it hits the water and I start it up. One of my ponds has a lot of floating pine straw. The Choppo usually fouls with straw within 10-15 feet into the retrieve, but I still catch fish because the Choppo gets going and usually gets bit before it fouls if there is a fish there. Just tied on a bone 105 for this evening. 😎👍

Love the video! Was just recently introduced to the Choppo, so I went and picked up a 90 1/2 Oz Bone. After throwing frogs and some other Bone colored top water I switched over to the Choppo 90 and third cast in, SLAM! Huge top water slap from my now new PB Northern Pike! Definitely a fan of the Choppo now.

I'll put your tips to work Strictly a bank fisherman here This year have been for the first time fishing both whopper poppers and buzz baits Fished both during first hours before and after sun rise and first hours before and after sunset and all times from sunup till sundown as well as night fishing until about 2am Fished both over and around weeded areas Fallen trees or logs points and inner pockets while fan casting from within a foot of shore to all areas in a wide half circle Done so since May Haven't caught a single bass on either yet Had good success on all my regular standbys of soft plastics hard cranks chatter baits and top water but zero success on BB's of WP's Hopefully your tips will improve my success as I have no where to go from here but up

The two biggest things I have learned is to throw close to cover, and get the plopper bait moving as soon as it hits the water. Most of my Choppo fish have hit it within 2-3 feet into the retrieve, with a higher percentage of them being within 1-2 feet. I fish it most of the way in, and have caught fish during mid retrieve and at the bank, but probably 80% of them are hooked up at the beginning of the retrieve. Getting it moving as soon as it hits the water and not letting it sit is probably the best juice on ploppers. Also, like Hunter said, slow and steady gets me the most bites. It’s rare that stop/start or burning gets hit. Also, I’m 100% bank fishing ponds. The Choppo has caught me more than probably everything else I’ve thrown in a pond combined this year. Even the crappie and bluegill smash it.

Talking about the free rig, and I probably should share this but lol 😆 I’ve took a 1/4 oz bullet sinker in my t-rig and put a stopper between that and the hook and then set the stopper about a foot above the hook and it works just like the free rig because the weight seems to move more freely and the bait moves slowly once the weight hits the bottom. So buying free rig weighs just for that idk maybe it’s better I haven’t tried it yet myself.

It doesn’t matter how it looks. If it’s not producing after multiple honest attempts with different baits, then it’s time to move. Don’t just hope. Fish can’t sense hope. It doesn’t matter what you’re throwing, if the fish aren’t there then you aren’t going to catch anything. You have to find the fish before they will bite. If your not getting bit, move.

I don’t know how to do it but you make loops on the hook hangers directly to the hook with braided line. When you fight a fish the braid twists which doesn’t allow a fish to spit the bait out as easily as with normal split rings.
