Real quick, Swish, you mentioned that Duncan set the tone for that franchise, but honestly that credit goes to David Robinson. MOST stars wouldn’t have been able to do what he did and accept the fact that he was getting older and give Duncan the keys and support Him. That set the tone for the franchise and was the first reason why the spurs became the franchise that it became. Everyone else followed suit afterwards

I think David Robinson hailing from the Navy and having a militant upbringing sort of cultivated a mindset of putting egos aside and working as a unit towards a singular goal (not to say that the military is without ego, but you get the idea). A lot of NBA dudes have had to grow up being "The Guy", not only for their teams, but also their families as well, so to break out of that mindset is essentially unpacking a lot of lifelong habits and conditioning. It sucks, but not everyone can do that.

This is too true. NFL treats all cities with respect, while the NBA is obsessed with coastal cities and had their broadcast team consistently shit on Indianapolis during All Star Weekend despite the city having Superbowl titles and the NFL combine. I understand the Pacers haven't won anything but the NFL does a far better job of making cities like Minneapolis or even fucking Green Bay feel as worthwhile as Dallas or NY by embracing their histories. I know the criticism of the day is that parity is bad, but I completely checked out during 2017 and 2018 seasons. It's not the lack of parity that was boring, but it was a complete procession to the title. I don't mind dynasties, as long as we see a competitive series in the NBA Finals. I think the lack of equally matched teams in the finals is more important to the interest of the NBA than a perceived notion of parity.

1- Warriors had a killer way to play, like 80%-90% small balling and 10%-20% pick and rolling to balance: if you double up over Curry, someone will be free to attack the rim. If you spread defenders to keep the rim under control, Curry, Thompson and that time also Green and Barnes can easily find a free shot. They run to 73-9 this way. 2- Kevin Durant join after Barnes opt to move out to make $ and the small ball + pick and roll strategy was abandoned. The balance factor were the own Kevin Durant: teams can't double up over Curry and Durant. They even can double up in one of them with both on court. 3- Kevin Durant leave, but not the pick and roll. Kerr went in mad mode doing 30-40 players switches each 30-40 seconds with a non sense mismatches paranoia. And even with one more title, this freak strategy that basically consist in keep five players behind 3 point line moving the ball each other until they have space to shot, turn into the nightmare reality of moving the ball each other until a contested shot with no one to try offensive rebound, or moving the ball until the turnover. Why? With this strategy where opponents know exactly what we were trying to do, they finally were able to defend us well and easily. 4- With unreal luxury tax taking in mind what the team were producing and the owners of expensive contracts aging, it was obvious that tough decisions would being taked in this pre season. 5- Klay, Chris Paul and Wiggins were the most expensive contracts that were underperforming. And they try to keep Klay with a fair deal. 6- Klay don't leave because any contract negociation issue. Despite what he said, he leave because he believe that the bench when the game starts wasn't his place, even if at the end, the starter guy finish with 20 minutes and Klay with 30. 7- Warriors, one more time, had some blessed drafts, as they had with Curry, KT, Green and Barnes, with young guys like Kuminga, Pod and TJD that clearly can be the next Warriors drafted sucessful team, even without a ring. 8- Curry and Green are the perfect choice to play with the kids. 9- Pick and roll need to back to menu asap, mainly because TJD already show us last season that he may be our best player to do this job on last 20 years by far. 10- We can find a better GM even on Chat GPT. It´s time for Mike Dun leave.

Draymond punching Poole definitively ended it, they were already on a short timeline due to Steph and Klay aging then Draymond got so erratic that theyve been a circus the last 2 years. Still a decent team but i dont think steph can carry the whole franchise to another chip at 35

About KD’s criticism of the warriors system I don’t think he’s totally wrong because the last two years and even before proved us that Golden state motion system has a ceiling and when it hit that ceiling even Golden state has to resort to pnr and iso like everyone else. Against the rockets who were switching a lot they had to go iso and pnr with kd and steph a lot more than usual. Vs the lakers who were top locking and funneling the warriors to AD at the rim the only way they could score was Steph pnr. Even when they beat the Celtics in the finals, Steph went crazy against the drop coverage but Boston was basically shutting down their motion offense and betting on Steph beating them by himself and he did. I’m not saying that heliocentric style my turn, you turn is better but KD wasn’t wrong when he said that Golden state system has some limit

The best dynasties will always be the spurs and the warriors because both of their leaders were the most humble guys in the league.

It could have ended another way. Klay could have taken less money or retired. But, I don't think that was the most shewd financial decision for him. As long as there's some team who who's willing to put him on the roster, he's gonna take the money. LeBron could have 3-peated, he just had to be willing to tail-load his money. The reason the Spurs contended forever is because Tim Duncan. The same year he signed biggest contract, 2003, he signed for an average of $17.5 million per year, while Shaq signed for almost $30 million per year. In the salary cap world, you gotta chose: Am I going to get paid, or am I gotta have a team that is in contention.

Klay's gonna be on the team where the 3rd gets the most wide open looks then any other team. Gonna be interesting to see if Klay can step up.

The team whose superstars choose not to take max contracts will be the next dynasty in this era cuz there’s no other way. Boston may have the best chance to repeat rn cuz they keeping the same team next year, but year 3 is the one where everything could change due to the contract situation and CBA. Also the ego shit really reminds me of Blue Lock 😂

All of us have something to do with this equation as well. The fans speculate whos the goat etc etc. Who is the best player etc etc. This has something to do with the players being the way they are also. Even the environment these players grow up in all of it.

I think real NBA like to see parity and different teams winning the chip. Seeing the vets who been grinding most of their careers finally get one. Seeing the young players elevate their play and break through on the national stage. More people should have been happy to see Boston finally win it all this year. Too many stans these days who just follow relevant players
