In high school the 2016 finals were going on while I had football practice and we all used the phrase “Cavs in 7” as a joke about never giving up on Lebron. Then they won and it became our slogan for the season, and then we won our league. Fun year no doubt

KD going to Golden State also shut the door on other big stars like Harden, Blake Griffin, and Chris Paul. Those guys have no legacy now because the GSW dynasty made them irrelevant. They are basically the Charles Barkleys of this era. The Steph vs CP3 rivalry is a whole story in itself.

Your last sentence summed it up. Steph and Lebron have nothing left to prove. With any team, they will find a way to win by being smarter and working harder. Kyrie, KD, and Russ are either not good leaders, or not leaders at all, and when it came time to prove it, they never did. They have just as much skill, and can’t do what the men above them can.

Id still argue lebron Needs 1 More Ring Imo, only because he said hes chasing mj , if it wasnt for that tho he wouldnt need to prove anything. But Steph Definitley Doesnt have anything else to prove. If Kd Doesnt win another ring or atleast makes a finals again You could legitimately call his career dissapointing. Kyrie IMO Has Kind of already overdelivered in his career, another finals would help but honestly id kinda argue he doesnt have anything else to prove either. He has a ring rookie of the year all star mvp 3 point champion and 50/40/90 member. Hes honestly already good. Even Russ id argue has already proven enough imo, him winning a ring as a role player would prove hes a winning player, but his game just isnt suitable to be a role player, he cant shoot or play defense. So tbh his career is already kinda proven. He went from a average college player to an mvp thats pretty good imo.

David West was still one of the best big men in the league in the low post and McGee was a serious upgrade from Ezeli at the backup who had also just come back from a long injury in the Finals when Bogut went down. Pachulia was also tough and would help them to be able to bang with Cleveland. Had Barnes re-signed with the team I don't think he would've been as quiet two Finals straight (he really was almost ineffective the entire playoffs that year and might have been dealing with an injury or fatigue because his play was just off the entire postseason) Personal opinion, the Warriors were coming back stronger either way...

I think another element that you couldve added in, but understandably so didnt, is how that incredible warriors team being 24-0 sparked the championship aspirations for the milwaukee bucks. The bucks had gotten the 7th game in a 7 game east road trip, in which a team has never gone 7-0 in NBA history and the warriors were 6-0. Bucks literally made 24-1 shirts, it was arguably a top 10 most important regular season games in nba history because of that and because Giannis was emerging as a young star in the league back then. The bucks winning that game felt like a surreal playoff experience and honestly, it started a sort of Rivalry the Bucks have with Golden State now. Tbh the 2016 championship was bad for LeBron in hindsight I think if KD never join the Warriors LeBron would unquestionably be the Goat and may have even 3 peated with the Cavs if Kyire stays in line in 2018 or didn’t get hurt in 2015 and it’s likely by now LBJ would have at least 5/6 rings with a positive finals win % there really wouldn’t be an argument against him as the goat

Only problem I see with this theory is kyrie loyalty and accepting his role but if he did they would most likely three peat because they came close in 2015 without two of their improtant teammates and 2016 obviously winning so yea I agree you but there would always be a question mark for kyrie

If gsw would’ve lost with Steph being 100% healthy. And draymond and bogut not missing final games that year I wouldn’t be annoyed by them losing but the fact that occurred and people really say they’d never beat the cavs again is just so stupid.
