    Thanks for this video i was a little skeptical about this DOF adapter because I watched a video from “10th parallel media” and it looked so much blurrier but I wonder if it was the lenses he was using but this video was helpful.

    Looks to me like there might be something inside the DOF adapter itself - on the sequence with all the different lenses used the same mark persists through all of them.

    best phrase I have heard in a while "punching the sun in the nuts" OMG LOL! Thanks for the video it was very very helpful. There aren't many videos on here for DOF for phones and this is probably the best one especially since you show them in use! Vs. just talking about them. Beast grip has a new one out have you thought about getting one to make a video on?

    Is there something like this for the GoPro Hero 5 Black? That's my usual goto camera that I normally have on me, I tried googling before asking, but all I found was pre-modded gopros that cost quite a lot of money, and at that point I may as well just buy a new camera

    Brilliant. Some shots have more edge defocus and vignette than others, do you find that is a result of the phone camera focusing on the screen in the adapter or does edge sharpness vary depending on what lens you have on it?

    are you using filmic pro? Filmic lets you manually set phone camera focus, but how does that interact with the lens focus. Do you need to double focus?

  • @BluntyTV

    @BluntyTV

    I was using filmic pro, yes. You don't need to fiddle with the internal focus, as I said, that's just focussed on the focussing screen. It does not ever need to change.

  • @MarcosElMalo2

    @MarcosElMalo2

    4 жыл бұрын

    From watching this video and looking at photos of the adapter on the Ulanzi site, it depends on the lens-it’s physical length and weight. There is a tripod mount socket on the adapter, so the camera is hanging off the adapter, not the other way around (if it isn’t obvious). A baseplate with rails would allow you to use more accessories (eg, follow focus, matte box, etc.). Haha, it just occurred to me there’s another definition of cinematic: how much equipment and crew you’re using-not the quality of the image or storytelling. I think I’d much rather *look* cinematic than make something cinematic. Haha!

  • @BluntyTV

    @BluntyTV

    4 жыл бұрын

    Frankly, I'd not recommend this AT ALL to "beginners". The skill floor needed to use this effectively is too high. You're better off learning the basics first on a "normal" camera, THEN you will KNOW what lenses you'd want to be using with this anyway.

    Skuu Digital I HAVE OPINIONS ON THIS! Lol. You’re going to need to convert from FF (old style 35mm film, actually) to understand in terms of m43, though. A basic lens set is wide, normal, and tele. Back in the day, normal was considered 50mm, but I never liked the look of that focal length overall. So my basic 3 were 24mm (wide), 35mm (normal) and 105mm (short tele, more of a portrait lens). That should cover 80-90% of your needs if you zoom with your legs and feet.

    I would give my left leg if these were adapted to work on 4k video camcorders, I have to have a camcorder for half of my work, the other half I have to have a large sensor camera. If i could save my kit a whole second camera. I would be in heaven, I have one of the old adapters, but the first 4k cam I got back in 2016 showed me It wasnt sharp enough to use anymore.

    I don’t know enough about the optics of screens, but that seems to be the limiting factor. Although vastly improved from just a few years ago. That said, for all the money I’ve already been putting into this “hobby”, and that I plan to continue putting into it, I wonder if I wouldn’t be better off buying a 10 year old 2k cinema camera.

    The adapter looks interesting, I really like the idea of being able to use a regular lens on a smartphone. I do have to say though that pretty much all of these shots are overexposed. Makes it look pretty bad.

    8:10 "but also without aperture control so if you're planning on using either of these lenses with this system, a variable neutral density filter might come in handy." don't think Blunty was trying to give us perfectly exposed shots or put the adapter in the best light. he was giving us a realistic use case and overview, as evidenced by what he was doing with/in the shots. the rest is up to the user.
