I think "in context" that last hack could have been mind-blowing, but without a proper setup it just tuns in to "Words" the romhack, such a shame too because maybe with a prequel or details it would have made more sense.

That last hack suffers from an immense issue of Tell, don't show. All the hack is exposition on a blank room, no gameplay, no cutscenes, only text and text and more walls of text. I hope the author can realize that this is a pretty bad way to tell a story, specially through a videogame. He has ideas and ambitions so I know he can do great in the future, here's just hoping he'll read this, try making the story be told through gameplay or cutscenes, and rely on text or exposition as little as possible.

At the beginning the creator said the hack was extremely rushed, I feel like his ambitions were just too great for the time he did the hack in He prolly would have done it different had he spend more time on it

I think that last hack was just the creator venting his fears and projecting them onto Mario.

Well it wasn't random because the answer was in the hack. Even without ever playing OoT someone could figure out the solution.

I eagerly await for that N64 Simple model to be used in other hacks. After being properly trimmed of the extra polygons of weight of course.

Ah yes, my perfectly fine hack, there is nothing wrong with it, yes, nothing wrong Edit: So why the hack suck balls in the first place? First because I barely knew anything about RomHacking when the competition started, I saw a tutorial on RomHacking just 2 days before the competition. I also didn't managed my time well, I had three months to make this hack and I basically used just the first week and the last three days. I forgot to re-add this to the first text box but I had cut basically 90% of the game, I simply had bitten more than I could chew, if everything I had planned to add made its way to the final hack maybe it wouldn't be as weird as it was, and it'd be more like a Zelda hack as well. Anyways I've said this not as a excuse but more as a explanation of why I made a bad hack, yes I was very unskilled, but it was a competition, I needed to at least make something enjoyable. At last... I'm sorry if anyone thinks that the fact that this hack wasn't DQ'd is unfair. I will rework this game and it'll be way better, I promise, I just need some time. I will post a link to the hack in a video on my channel so if you even care about this..... You....... You know what I'm asking right? Also, just saying, I know that this hack was bad and all but, my next comp hack will be the sickiest thing everyone has ever seen, this is not a promise, it's more like a treat, my next comp hack will blow everyone's mind away. If you are actually the developer of the last hack, I just have some constructive feedback. Next time try telling the story through gameplay or the environment, and relying less on text. When playing a game, what the player usually wants is, to play the game; if what you are seeking is to just create a story itself, you can just make the story and share it, nothing wrong with that. But if you want to make a story for a game, you need to take the "game" part into heavy consideration. You certainly have good ideas, so good luck on any future projects :P

I can see what the guy with the last hack was going for but there was basically no gameplay, which made it pretty hard to follow and a bit boring. With lots of tweaking and less random dialogue I’m sure it could be something great

I swear that last hack has to be a troll.

What I love about the competitions is that it encourages more people to enter the romhacking scene. Some people wouldn't picked up the romhacking tools prior to the competitions. Having said that, it kind of breaks my heart to see people go "DQ this shit" when the hack isn't of stellar quality, especially if it's someone's first hack, and as such, first entry. Without constructive criticism, there's no way for these guys to improve their work and provide you with something you might actually like. We're all here to guide the hackers in the right direction by telling them what's been executed well and what needs more polishing. If you see a hack that's not as well done as other hacks out there, take it with a grain of salt and try to communicate with the hacker on what they might want to improve. We need more faces in the romhacking scene if we don't want it to die out.

I think the man with the rifle in his hand from the last hack is Link, from that one PBG video where PBG announced Zelda Month was coming back

That map really reminds me of Shrek: Extra Large. You guys should really race it, cause it's been ages since you have done so and it's very similar to Mario 64 in many aspects

That Simple joke at the end of the first hack is such a high quality goof.

Even the bad hacks are still really entertaining to watch and aren’t complete dumpster fires

(maybe replace 'with' with 'in') Clearly Mario is going insane, but he chooses to treasure the memory instead of acknowledging his madness. As laughable as the hack is there's some good stuff.
