Exactly! Back in USSR you become a member of Komsomol almost automatically when you are in high school and automatically you are out by the age of 28. As the world works now any money you put in a bank account doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to the bank and they will give it to you as required. At least with that system (while not perfect) is at least a step removed from the government. She seems to think we would be better off with the government having direct custody of our money.

If you listened to her reply in its entirety, she first corrected him on the name of the organization and then explained that membership is automatic once one reaches a certain age, and is eventually terminated. In other words, she didn't join the "young communists", but rather was a compulsory member for a brief time, just like the rest of her peers

Simply BEING a member is one thing. Like everyone (of any stature) in Iraq had to be a member of the Baath Party, an Arabic Stalinist party. But you have to join if you wanted to succeed. I partly agree with Kennedy on his follow-up. Many American people who aren't communist have issues with aspects of our banking system .. if they even understand how that functions. The combination of papers and reports he read out began sounding more and more suspect. I have read suggestions that the Fed should offer checking accounts, but warnings that to eliminate private banks could make access to credit much more _political_ .. Banks are normally agnostic politically as long it looks like a sound deal for the creditor and debtor, whether it's to finance a hippie food co-op or ex-military security firm. The United States government played a role in developing industry and tech since Alexander Hamilton called "The American System", but on the other hand that wasn't about nationalizing everything. It was about the federal govt investing in some industrial "commons". ASIDE, the US postal service handles a lot of deliveries for UPS and FedEx. That allows those companies to specialize and meet delivery commitments.

I was a member of 3, as almost everyone who grew up in USSR did. For the kids from 6 to 9, for kids from 10 to 14 and for young people from 14 to 25. Try to find someone from the USSR who did not :)

No rebuttal to the papers as recently as 1 or 2 years ago which should by themselves be disqualifying AND refusing to provide a copy of her thesis. It's a no-brainer!

She has served our country faithfully for over 20 years and has garnered respect from many constituents on both sides of the political spectrum for her professionalism in her field of finance. The president of the United States of America has even recognized her devotion to our country. I see no negatives besides an obvious attack on where she comes from. Just accept this is only an issue now because it’s Biden who appointed her. This petty squabbling needs to be excised from our country, it has no place here.
