You really need to know about Millar Ukuleles

Музыка

EDIT: I am hearing from a few different sources that the Cedar is actually Yellow Cypress - a similar wood to Cedar native to Taiwan.

It's so refreshing to have a new brand to talk about that give the established big name brands like Kala, Big Island, Pono, Flight etc a real run for their money. The Millars are made in Taiwan and seemingly are a massive brand in their native country whilst having almost no footing in the Ukulele world elsewhere.

Thanks for doing this video! Millar Ukes are different from Chinese factory-made ukes is because they are handmade by a family based in Taiwan.

I recently bought a Millar long-neck soprano from Matt at World of Ukes and it's fabulous. Second only to my Mya-Moe tenor in my collection! And the Millars are a bargain as Alex is saying!

What a wonderful review of these superb ukes. I saw Matt's review on a couple of these as well some time ago. I almost pushed the button, but those huge rope binding kept me from doing so. Now that I see they have ones without that binding, I might reconsider very soon. Thank you, Alex!

I have changed our listings... The invoices from Millar list it as Cedar and Google translate translates Hinoki as Cedar - it's an honest mistake and something I can correct in future videos.

The wood of the top plate of TK240 I believe should be Taiwan cypress (檜木)which is a very treasured wood. I read from Millar’s old FB post that they savaged such precious wood from demolished old house.

A company called String swing used to make one designed for shop displays... The thing is that they were monstrous in size and cost something ridiculous like £400-500. Send me an email with your details and il do some research.

I know this is an older video, but how would you compare the TA-240G to the Flight Spirit? They're in the same price range, but I don't particularly want a pickup despite how pretty the Spirit is.

There is little in it. One isn't better than the other in my opinion... the flight is pretty and aesthetically impressive but I think on this occasion I'd take a Millar.

Hinoki is a close relative of Port Orford Cedar & Alaskan Yellow Cedar. This can be where the confusion comes about.
