I think we should be more accepting and supportive of fat people without putting all the blame on them. But I also think that "body positivity" can often have a negative impact. I think it certainly depends though on whether or not the people are healthy, trying to become healthier, or not trying at all

It's an illusion, our bodies do have an "optimal phase" if cared for, and after that, we will naturally decay. You can be healthy and obese? No, because your body is not structured to deal with the weight, your bones, and muscles will suffer, and your organs and your body as a whole. You can survive, and the word survives, underweight for a while, but in both situations, you are only speeding the decay. In our modern society, there's no healthy when you talk about food, hell, when you talk about lifestyle. You want to lie to yourself, good, we all do, but in the end, we know, is just another lie. You think you are in control, but you are not, as we see our planet dying, how can you live and stay healthy when your surroundings are poisoning us, and our choices killing us. Pessimistic or realistic, see as you want. Stay hydrated tho💗 Edit:The medicine you take when you are sick. The alcohol you consume when you go party. The extreme and unnatural exercises we do. This all counts when you want to stay healthy, and your surroundings, pollution, stress, sleep patterns, the medicine for your anxiety or your mental health, that's why I think, is not just food, is everything, and we don't have control to what we expose ourselves to, so yeah, the healthy lifestyle is a lie. Skinny, slim, fat, normal, why care? Honestly, just try to be happy for a moment, life is already hard without having to think about how you should look because people will judge you, no matter what. Just smile one honest smile every day. Is harder than dieting, but the satisfaction is incomparable.

I went out with friends on a fast food restaurant and i ordered Caesar salad. Let me remind you that beside the chicken , lettuce, corn (probably all processed), such a salad has very caloric dressing, croutons, shredded cheese etc. It can be considered healthier but not necessarily being too low calorie. So my best friend asks me : why are you ordering salad ? Are you dieting? (I was dieting at the moment) It shocked me how , even tho i was eating fast food salad ,with all the things i listed previously, they thought that i was dieting , just because i didn't choose to eat a double cheeseburger for example.

Body positivity is taking care of yourself, understanding that’s it’s ok to have a little bit more meat on your bones, and that it’s ok if your waist isn’t the size of a toothpick. Body positivity isn't just about having some healthy fat and not minding it, but it's also about loving yourself even if you're obese while working to be healthier because instead of hating ourselves for letting ourselves down we should be happy we're making a change. The problem is some people told themselves it meant that you don't need to change to be healthier because they're scared they won't be able to do it.

Education, financial means, country you live in, culture you grew up in, type of job or lack of job, mental health, housing situation, trauma, support network, cost of health care, means of transport available to you, urban planning of the city/country you live in, and probably others play a massive role in how easy or difficult it is to change your body composition.

Went to the doctor, and had ultrasounds and blood tests. Turned out my thyroid acted out it's a heritage from my mom’s mom 😅 The doctor put me on medication and extra vitamins. Also, we discussed how I can lose weight within 2-3 months with workout and calorie deficit 💪🏼 I am almost the same size after 1 month. In a moderate defense of the women on water tok, a lot of them have had bariatric surgery. Which is a weight loss surgery that drastically reduces the size of the stomach. For the next few weeks and months after the operation, you are restricted to an all liquid diet as your stomach adjusts. Especially since it can't hold almost any solid food. You have to consume around 50 oz of water a day, maybe more. So, in accordance with medical advice, you can add sweeteners and flavoring to the water in case you don't like plain water. Though it is true that some people are using it as like a diet "hack," and that's very unfortunate

As someone that owns horses, that seems to be a difficult discussion. Even though it is clearly about the safety and protection of the horse, somehow these topic are not supposed to be talked about. I would not say someone is fat or ugly when they are too heavy for my horse, my horse is just not strong enough (max 20% of his weight rule). Somehow people tend to think that people who set these boundaries are at fault. It's like weight is not allowed to be a factor, whether it is health or in this case the health of a horse. But I know I'm not truly on topic, it just was a thought I got while watching this video.

I've been working my ass off to lose 100+ lbs that I gained during a few years of depression... I hate when I can't celebrate being smaller. Being told it's not your life purpose to be small... its not, bit I am healthier and that feels amazing. Also, it's the first time in YEARS that I don't have to have anxiety about fitting in rides or sitting comfortably in a plane. I will continue to celebrate shedding off so many lbs.

fr! when it comes to celebrating stuff such as working on ur appearance people always wanna say "appearance isn't everything" when they know nobody ever said that, that's what THEY think. people just wanna celebrate how far they've come to make progress and reach their goals. hell it doesn't even have to be about ur appearance it can be anything else. people always wanna act like we think we're all that when we celebrate something about ourselves.

It all depends on how you curate your algorithm (although twitter is a mess right now so you cant do that). Most of the drama on tik tok escapes me because I curated it to show me cute animal videos instead. All social media can be horrible because humans are the one controlling them. Your personal experience on these apps depends on what you choose to engage with.

This video made me think about eating disorders and how they are always associated with losing weight and trying to look skinnier. Now I wonder if there are ones that are focused on gaining weight? Or is it called binge eating? Well, that's a new topic to research, I guess...

I dont know about that. But something I have noticed is that fat people are considered to eat a lot more than other person when that isnt true most of the times. They are most likely fat for staying still and not moving enough. And there is also a debate about if there is posible to be fat because of genetycs, I wont say it works "father and his family fat = fat kid" but I would say it affects genetycs to some point

Binge eating disorder would make you gain weight. Certain types of AFRID would make you gain weight (most think of eating overly healthy but it could also be eating only junk; like man who only eats fries) Not really in the DSM (might qualify for EDNOS) but there are gym bros who focus on getting gains to the point that its an eating disorder.

Being content means being grounded in the present. I actually think we severely underestimate the level of skill and discipline required in this practice, even though it can often take decades to master. We want the feeling of being content that comes with the training of a monk, without any of the training and wonder why were left unsatisfied

A few things I need to say as a plus size person. First, as far as the fat people making unhealthy choices are concerned, it's obvious it isn't healthy. We know it, they know it. Though I do understand the reasoning behind what they are doing, whether or not it is actually effective. Thin people make unhealthy choices all the time and they are seen as down to earth and relatable, But the second a fat person eats something unhealthy, all hell breaks loose and suddenly everyone has an opinion on what they should be eating. Those people are essentially protesting the double standard. If people are either going to criticize unhealthy eating or just let people be, the same energy should be held no matter what your size. And for those of you who want to make a health argument anyway, people of any size can have damaging bodily effects from unhealthy living, and let's be honest. Chances are that you don't know the people you are judging or how healthy they actually are or aren't because you are not their doctor. Second, we definitely all need to learn what a healthy amount of food looks like. I'm not saying all those influencers are actually undereating, but some of them are, and them marketing it as healthy can be damaging to their followers. And to be fair, we can learn what overeating is, though honestly with the scrutiny we face as fat people, the general public probably already have a good idea of what that looks like. Third, for a lot of us, we have trauma due to diet culture, and it can be hard to heal from that if we don't have the right support. And due to our experiences, diet culture and healthy living feel very connected. As such, it can be hard to commit to being a bit healthier without falling into toxic eating patterns. For example, I am on a diet right now and due to this diet, I need to count my carbs and sugar, which is triggering to me since I was made to count calories and fat at a young age, and I worry that when I'm done with the diet, I'll find it difficult to transition back to a healthy and regular amount of carbs. And I'm walking a tightrope with learning to be healthy and one wrong move could send me into a cesspool of self-hatred. And finally, and I know this might get me some hate, I don't want to say that you don't have a voice in this discussion as someone who struggles with body image, but you are straight size and as far as I know, you have always been straight size, so coming from you, your criticism can come off as judgment from someone who doesn't actually know what it's like. As such, this discussion should be led by the people who actually deal with fat prejudice, especially the people who make healthy choices without the intention to lose weight. And I hope that with this discussion, you're willing to listen to our experiences and viewpoints.

"Why are we still scared to be fat?" Because, despite the science denialism we see nowadays, fat is unhealthy. Full stop. Irrespective of healthy lifestyle being fat is still unhealthy. We know this. The science shows us this to such a degree we even know definitively that just eating healthy foods and being active is not enough to erase the health detriments of obesity. Does it make someone healthier than someone who's fat and doesn't do those things? Yes. But does it make them as healthy as a thin person who does the same? Not even close. I do think we need to divorce health and beauty standards and self worth. These things should be kept conceptually separate, but that doesn't mean lying to ourselves and others to try and force that divorce. People should still feel worthy and beautiful even if they are not healthy because of their bodysize. But there are people who do wish for health, and lying to them is cruelty. By doing this, we remove any agency they would have had in pursuing their goals. As a crass cartoon robot once said "I can tell you anything you want" it doesn't make it true.

Once upon a time a little girl (me 🙋) that was hating her body. Whenever she would look at the mirror she would literally burst into tears. One day a person thought her "if you don't like your body I can love it for you 😊" she cried immediately after. These two friends promessed to each other to always to love the "bad aspects"of the one if it's too hard for the other to do. What I'm tryna say is that if it's too hard for you to love yourself find someone to love until you can do it yourself. Don't worry if you can't find that person I deeply believe that everybody has that person and they're destined to be with each other. Just believe in destiny 😉 I wanna deeply thank that person for helping me through my hard times. Because of her now I can proudly say that I ACCEPT my body.😌And maybe one day I will love it. Who knows?😏😊 Hope y'all have a great day 😊🥰🥰

Obesity can increase your health risks by 33% That means 67% of overweight people won't be additionally affected and will live to old age just fine. I know skinny people that eat fast food everyday and drink excessive alcohol and play video games all weekend and overweight people that go biking and play soccer every week and love salads for lunch. Health isn't always reflected by your pants size. People don't need to be bullied for not being a size 6. There are so many factors: genetics, income, mental health, diseases, addiction, hormones, pregnancy, stress, disability, time, education, allergies, injury, upbringing, habits, medications, etc. that contribute to temporary and permanent weight gain. Food is an easy and affordable comfort, especially in these times. I can't hop on a plane to Hawaii or cure my mom's addiction but I can make a grilled cheese on garlic toast and have a mango popsicle for lunch.

I thinks it's good to have different bodies on media. I was a fat kid, not obese but fat. I always grew up feeling I never feel "normal" because i only saw thin women on media. I felt i don't deserve to be happy or confident until i become thin. And i did i became very thin for some yrs with restricted eating. It didn't make me as happy and confident as i expected... I was still me in a thinner body. The first non thin main character i saw on screen, i was amazed that this girl, being bigger than me has confidence, love, happiness and a thriving life. It's good to have different types of bodies in screen. I don't mean obese bodies but just bodies that are healthy but not like super thin... The middle ground that most of us are in.

Comparing is so damaging to one’s self esteem. As a teen I had skinny athletic friends while I was curvy and generally un-athletic. I constantly compared my body to peers, my friends, even random people on the street. If I had somebody tell me “hey you’re body is unique and very special so you should take care of it” (but said better) It would’ve changed the way I looked at myself.

If you are fat, you will increase your chances of getting issues within your body. If you are a girl, chances are that, you will be facing menstrual problems more. If you are too thin, you have your own set of problems. The best is always the normal. Accept that you are fat/skinny first. I see so many comments say, you are not fat/skinny, you're perfect. No. If you are fat, you are fat. Same with skinny. Nothing is perfect anyway. And we need to become better versions of ourselves. But in that process, there will be many obstacles but we still need to keep moving on. Keep trying and keep loving yourself. Being fat is unhealthy so try to change that if you can. Even with skinny. Now don't confuse fat with thick. They are different. If you put on weight by not leading a good lifestyle, that is eating junk very often or not taking care of your body, that is what i mean by fat. Thick is different. I don't understand why people can't understand that. Accept how you are and try to change. When I say that, I do not mean for you to accept yourself and be like that forever. Only when you accept your mistakes you can rectify them. Similarly, only when you accept how you body is, you can change for the better. Perfect is out of the box. Because it is subjective. As long as you are happy and people who truly want the best for you are happy, nothing matters because we all die sometime and nobody will ever remember how you didn't care about their opinions. Just try to live a healthy life and happy life. Now, even genes play a role. I might eat healthy, be healthy and exercise well. But I might get a disease/ a big issue let's say cancer/ kidney failure. And the other person might be having just the opposite life of mine, like eating junk very often, not at all exercising, and not living a healthy lifestyle but have not diseases at all. This is where people are wrong. Because everyone is different. So let's say I have cancer/ kidney failure and I was living the ideal lifestyle. Now here's the deal. If i didn't lead that lifestyle, I might have increased my chances to die sooner or have even serious issues. But because i lead a helathy lifestyle, i didn't die or prevented the situation to get worse. Every person is different. Because i was healthy, I was alive a little longer. If I weren't and was leading the life of the second person i described, i might have dies earlier. Got the difference? And always try to become the better version of yourself. And in that process, enjoy the changes and try to make it as fun as possible. It could be about appearance/ personality/ mental health/ education/ life in general and all.
