To be honest, I don't exactly blame Kylie for everything that happened because she was a literal child when the reality show aired...and so she spent her whole life, and childhood under cameras and people who judged her, so maybe all the pressure she was put throught it's the one we should blame, and not attack her without remembering what led her to that decision in the first place...which in this case was the media, the public and even her own family :(

Calling plastic surgery beauty enhancement is a bit much... Using makeup, clothing, even hairstyles to enhance your best features is beauty enhancement, cause it just works with whatever you have to make it look the best, without taking away or adding anything. And it's no permanent change either. Plastic surgery, on the other hand, changes your body permanently, hence not enhancing it but transforming it.

@@Eniramoi Yeah I gotta say, this take combined with her take on Temu just seem off to me. Saying that plastic surgery is shamed because of jealouscy?! I mean, come on. Its not about that, its about pretending to be all natural but actually undergoing surgery. It creates wrong expectations for women in our society. I get the struggle of the kardashians but they are feeding into the circle.

it does honestly depend on the type of surgery. i saw a tiktok about a woman winning a korean mommy makeover (not the american kind) and they really just enhanced her natural features and gave her a more youthful look yet she still looked almost exactly like herself beforehand. plastic surgery culture in korea is obviously very different to the american that being said i don't like the kardashians and while i can feel sympathy for them feeling like they have to permanently change how they look this whole kylie "taking accountability" for their influence on todays beauty standards seems incredibly fake and just a way to get people to dislike the kardashians/jenners less

  • @helenw6734

What was left out of the picture: A lot of beauty "enhancing" surgeries are serious medical procedures. For example, the brazilian butt lift (mortality rate one in 2,351 to one in 6,241) to name one of the worst. It is not okay as a person with influence (especially on young, insecure girls) to present it like a walk in the park. Plastic surgery is NOT like changing your hair color. It is a risk and can change your life in ways you didnt expect.

“If the women who “chose” to get plastic surgery had never suffered the constant bombardment of beauty standards, would they ever had “chosen” to get plastic surgery at all? Is it really a choice if the reason you do it is because society makes you feel like your natural self is inadequate, therefore making you unworthy of respect?” Not to mention how people who get plastic surgery may feel personally happy and empowered, but everyone else just feels shitty. Like, nearly every girl who gets a nose job has a big nose just like me, really feels like a slap in the face. I get that this is all about them, but we seriously need to consider the impact our actions have on society as a whole

I don't think someone making a decision about their body has anything to do with you. Nor does that person have a responsibility to think about how you'll fell. Nor do they need to take permission from you for it. No features are ugly and we really need to learn to accept our uniqueness. BUT some people who are unable to, are well within their right to do whatever makes them feel better.

I’m not going to feel sorry for Kylie Jenner. Her lying about getting her boobs and ass done was gaslighting on a mass scale . For YEARSSSS. Young girls were defending her, calling it ‘pubity’, young men said she was the standard, they thought that’s what happens to girls when they become women 😂 When some of us who knew better would say no that is obvious plastic surgery…these young people would shut us down and say it’s pubity, or it’s her pregnancy. For her to flippantly come out after years of gaslighting everyone, denying surgery and just say ‘when I got my boobs done’ without any shame for what she made young people think for years, is also messed up.

Hey Zoe! First off, I am fan of your work; You're content, presentation, and community you built is genuine and amazing! As much as I enjoyed this video, I'm going to heavily disagree here. (Please note: that I am a cis-het Latine man. I only have experiences as such, and I am not speaking for nor of the experiencies of BIPOC women/ women identifying folks.) There is a major point that you missed; especially when it comes to discussing the Kardashians. That is the beauty "Standard" They influence and brought upon to the mainstream, was entirely and primarily appropriated by Black and Brown women. Granted, as you have stated everyone has different bodies, features, etc. Black and Brown women are no exception, yet when the spotlight is focused on them, it is primarily focused on their bodies i.e: curvy bodies, full lips, slim waist, big booty, etc. The appropriation goes beyond the literal and physical bodies. From the choice of partners, fashion, hairstyles, make-up styles , et all. Plenty of other content creators here have pointed it out and gone in depth such as: @Kadijha Mbowe, @Tee Noir, @Fab Socialism, @Mina Le and more. All this to say, that while yes, we should not judge nor ostracize people who get/receive cosmetic surgery (especially if it is their own choice). The Kardashians are both the exception AND the rule. Especially considering, how their influence has had an impact in the current popular culture. There's plenty more, but I wholeheartedly reccommend, you watch the videos about this subject from all of the aforementioned, female/fem-identifying creators. That being said, I still am a fan of the channel, your work, and you! I just wanted to throw in some two cents here. Keep doing what you're doing and hope you're having a wonderful week!❤ Thank you for reading if you have read this far!

I love your videos because they really get me thinking. About my own concepts of beauty and plastic surgery. As a nurse I would never risk my life for a nose job (or any other plastic surgery). Because you can die potentially from any general anesthesia. I had to undergo multiple surgeries including an emergency surgery myself. And I was always extremely relieved to wake up again! Most likely I just have seen too much so my view is of course biased from the experiences I had. And still - everyone has to decide it for themselves. And to judge a person based on their looks - now that’s something I really don’t want to do. So you challenge me to have a closer look on my believes - and that’s great!

I feel like you didn’t really do any research on this video aside from your own personal opinion as it’s missing a lot nuance. Wish you talked more about how the Kardashians lie about their surgeries then sell product to obtain that. I think you forget that you’re an adult looking at these women. Not a young person who (believe it or not) cannot fully grasp or realize that these women HAVE has these surgeries. They are capitalist greedy people who have commodified their bodies to sell. It’s sad and horrible that the kids were brought up into that (Kylie and Kendall) but you really seem to be ignoring the actual damage and issues they do cause. It’s deeper than “they got plastic surgery because they’re insecure”. It involves classism, sexism, capitalism, racism etc. and I don’t think this video comes even close to addressing or understanding any of that.

I think its because they perpetuated a sterotype of looks based on mainly but not black brown and native bodytypes. Its the fact you dont get to break someones legs and then cry stop when someone picks up a crowbar on yours. She is a grown woman who knew what she was doing. Her lies, decit, the many horrible, and dangerous business ventures shes been apart of. She capitalized on insecurities that women and girls have. Holding someone accountable its decided based on likeability or mid 20s develping amygdala. They make their empire based on issues and instances that many women have been through. With all of thay money the education was never there. She doesnt try to change she changes for relevancy. Noone cares what she changed about herself. Its isnt our business, but using such a controversial and problematic person isnt going to change the fact noone is going to listen to a person when they form their body, life and empire on the backs of others while then trying to become the "body positve" one of the bunch to become more relevant is just what they want. Acknowledge what they did. Used womens hardships and issues to lie and build businesses off of womens struggles and patriarchal, societal, preferential, cultural, and religious constructs. You want change in the world then okay. Acknowledge it then. Stop giving a wolf a bone as if they wont tear off your face.

Have you noticed that on Western media people are showing EITHER how insecure they are, OR how confident they are? Either "I hate myself and have 19372873 insecurities", or rbf "I don't care about your opinion". It looks like you're acting overly careless to PROVE how careless you are, so you still very much revolve around other people. You just put on an intimidating mask. It is very good (although rare) to see the golden medium! When someone isn't too fearful, but also doesn't overcompensate by acting tough and Queen of Universe, staying empathetic and responsive. Such neutral things don't tend to blow up, unlike the extremes.

I think it’s because the golden medium doesn’t garner as much attention as these extremes. It’s a sad reality, but does show the unhealthiness in the media. Finding this golden medium, is easier for some and harder for others, and when doing self improvement it’s easy to almost seesaw into self love and then self hate ( it’s like an endless cycle). But I think once we have more empathy for ourselves, that it’s okay to have bad days and not be so tough all the time, that’s when we really begin to make change in our lives. 🤍 happy to find someone else that sees this polarizing reality.

i get it, but there are certain things about myself that i've been trying to accept since i was in elementary school. i just can't do it because i hate them so much. i can't even live a normal life because of it. i haven't gone swimming in seven years, i havent worn short sleeves other than to work out. i havent worn shorts since i was eight years old. i've lost so much weight, but that doesn't fix some of the things i hate about myself. i can never be happy until i get plastic surgery

Everyone wants to be the best version of themselves so I’d say that’s pretty normal. Just don’t be too hard on yourself for not being perfect, everyone makes mistakes and everyone has some sort of flaw about themselves. Just be yourself and work on making you happy because that’s what really matters!

How does Kylie say she was confident when she said that her thin lips made her very self conscious! She even lied about it and said she used a lip liner. Then in one year she has these big o boobs and diaper butt! Without being pregnant. Why not be real and say”The rapper boyfriend I want is attracted to big lips, boobs and butt” because that was the reason. She wasnt confident in herself to think that such a person would want her with her thin lips, athletic body and regular length hair. Why does she photoshop every little thing when she doesn’t have to. I like Kylie. I always have but I’m sick of this family not being real about their reasons for plastic surgery. It all has to do with men! There is no female empowerment here. I know a lot of women who have had boob jobs and some BBL’s. They all regret it especially after having a baby. They don’t have the money to reverse it.

tbh people are never happy with anything and any decision you make will be judged by someone all the time. Many people see this procedures as a way to completely change oneself overall and it is surprising how many small tweaks that go unnoticed happen in people around you and you will never notice it. I am okay with plastic surgery but I am not a fan of the way the Kardashians and many famous people have abused from it and passed it as natural processes of the body. It just makes the conversation more difficult overall in my opinion...

She looked natural and healthy before surgery. More wifey material. All she had to do was do the hard work of exercising and staying fit. It's a long term commitment that simultaneously builds confidence and mental resilience. If only girls had loving mothers and supportive, encouraging sisters to teach them to love the body and face they are born with and PUT IN THE HARD WORK to earn your feminine beauty. Beauty and health is earned through consistent effort. It is valuable in human society, so if you want it, do what it takes to earn it. No shortcuts.

...or it could be access and affordability? Given what’s happened over the past few years, it might be quite difficult watching people spend on ‘luxuries’ when many struggle to afford ‘necessities’. So it might be less jealousy of the result, and more jealousy of the opportunity?

Getting plastic surgery is okay only if you want to and after learning about all the risks that comes with it. Since children are always looking upto other people on social media, it's important for people to admit that they've done plastic surgery so that children won't feel insecure while growing up. Practice self care and say affirmations since the world out there keeps telling us that we aren't perfect and we unconsciously have started to believe it. So stay healthy, happy and safe❤

I make wieiad videos as a model. A lot of people tell me I don’t look like a model but the truth is just that I’m not wearing makeup in my videos. People forget what real beauty looks like. Luckily, I’m mature for my age, 15, and can understand that people have no clue what is real anymore. I’m ok showing that no one wakes up looking perfect and it’s ok to not be glam all the time. Models don’t even look like their photos. Including me 😂. Being confident with your bare face is important because it is YOU!!! Sorry for the long writing but I wanted to share my perspective.❤❤❤

But people please don’t project that on me, I’m really confident in myself, I shouldn’t have to defend that to people. If you don’t find me attractive, fine, why do we have to have a conversation about it if we aren’t pursuing each other? I agree with your take though, shit is rough.

I don't have anything against makeup. Or cosmetic surgeries. But I personally don't feel the need to get surgery. Makeup? Sure, I just lack knowledge of it & actually envy girls who make it seem so easy, that's a talent for sure. Tho yes I would say, claiming to have "natural" beauty while having fillers... yeah that's plain fake. That's what I hate. You don't have to hide that you did some things artificially to get the desired beauty yk? Nobody would shame you, they'd just be surprised, and that's valid because honestly any surgery is dangerous & might have it's own fair share of side effects- cosmetic surgery being one. I heard there's lots of side effects to the filler/botox surgeries, so knowing these, personally I won't really go out of my way to get these surgeries done on me but I can see why celebs like Kylie would end up having these surgeries. I just sometimes feel sad that they had to change themselves sm, putting their lives on a pedestal. Let them live, for they too are normal human beings like us

Here what I don't understand: how can someone be influenced by picture on instagram? You don't know this person, you can't be stupid enough to belive that nothing was edited before publishing, that this amount of changes can happen just beacause of maturing, that those body types are natural. People, seriously, you have to look af YOURSELVES and stop comparing everything with filthy rich celebrities. If you want to change something-do it, I don't see a reason not to, I also don't see why you have to explain what you did. Just don't blame social media for your insecurities, if your mental health is not in a good state, just stop following the people that can make it worse. Maybe somebody want to discuss this matter?

Please remember that there are a lot of children and teens on these apps who have very different brains and environments. It’s very easy to say “don’t let it influence you” but that ignores the very real societal expectations. and insecurities existed before social media. You also cannot have the assumption that everyone thinks the same as you, unfortunately there are a lot of people with no media literacy and some genuinely cannot tell the difference. Teen development literally involved comparing yourself to your peers and it’s how we learn to socialize and other societal expectations.
