You need to follow this proven initial greeting for your door-to-door sales pitch
www.d2dmillionaire.com/initial...
Do you struggle with your initial greeting in your door-to-door sales pitch?
The initial greeting can either make or break your door-to-door sales pitch
There is a proven 5-step system you can use in your door-to-door sales pitch that will get you great results. If you trust the system and follow this initial greeting you will increase your sales hands down. One of the main reasons reps struggle is they don’t have a system to follow when they are reaching out to prospects. If you or your sales team don’t have a proven sales pitch to follow it could be a key reason you or your business isn’t getting the results you are expecting.
Initial greeting for your door-to-door sales pitch: Part 1 - Who you are
This doesn’t have to take long but the first part of your initial greeting in your door-to-door sales pitch should be telling your prospect who you are. When you tell them who you are be could be something as simple as “Hi I’m Mike with Rove Pest Control“. In addition to telling your prospect who you are, you should use some kind of ice breaker so they feel more comfortable about who you are. When you use an ice breaker you come off more as a messenger of information and not as a salesperson trying to inconvenience the prospect and only “sell” them something. Learn more on how to do a proper ice breaker here.
Sales Pitch Part 2 - Why you are there
A great start to your sales pitch of why you are there should include name dropping. You could name drop a prospects home you just visited, a current customer, or the next door neighbor you talked to earlier. Learn more on how to properly name drop here. Discussing why you are there can also consist of something like you are starting a new route, you are filling in a new route, a few neighbors are already using the service, etc.
Sales Pitch Part 3 - What You Are Offering
What you are offering comes down to what kind of special you are offering for that day. Basically one of the most effective strategies you can use is to offer some type of discount or special on your products or services for a limited time. This could be an additional service or a price drop. Your discount doesn’t have to be huge, it just has to be something you are excited about.
Initial Greeting Part 4 - Address A Common Concern
Depending on what type of service your company markets there are going to be a couple common objections or concerns you will face with your prospects. For example if you are marketing pest control a couple of the most common things you will hear is either “we don’t have a pest problem/we aren’t seeing any pests in our home” or “I already have a pest service”. One way to deal with any common concern is to bring it up first. Mention something like, “I’m sure you aren’t seeing many pests in your home now if any, but that’s not why were are here. As the weather changes pests tend to move inside your home…” You or your sales team should simply insert whatever common concern is repeatedly heard and address it as part of your door-to-door sales pitch.
Door-to-door sales pitch Part 5 - Conversational Close
The last step in an effective initial greeting and your door-to-door sales pitch is to use a conversational close. This is basically asking a non-threatening question that can lead you towards making the sale. A great question you could ask at this point is “How long have you been in your home?” This will help you determine the posture you should have with your prospect. If they are new to the home you can be more of an authority to them and tell them how things work and what they will see around their home. If they have been in there home for a long time, make the assumption that they are an expert in their home and they are well aware of the things that go on. With your “expert” prospect you can just make statements like “I’m sure you’re aware as winter approaches xyz will happen which is why most people like you are pro-active and get set up with our service…” If you follow these 5 steps in your door-to-door sales pitch, you will make more sales and your team and business will get much better results.

Excellent video! This helped me to understand why I was so annoyed with the pest control salesman that came to my house a couple of days ago! He annoyed me so much that it motivated me to do some reading on d2d sales people. Your method is EXACTLY what the guy was doing. He seemed to be a nice guy and all, but I felt he was being manipulative...although I completely understood that he was just doing his job. I could be the psychologist nature in me; but I just don't like the feeling of someone trying to "pressure" me (directly or indirectly) to purchase a product by using manipulative "strategies". But for a sales person, good video! But for a "prospect", it provides the "method to the madness". Thanks!

Just watched and want to apply this to legal services, just about no other solicitor in the UK does door to door, so the pitch about being proactive really should work. I wanted to ask if your no. 4 common concerns might be better in No. 3 for this pitch. There are at least 3 major concerns that can be applied depending on age of the person who has just opened there door. * Young parent - they need guardians for their kids if they both die. * Parent with grown kids - their Will, if they have one offers no guarantee there will be an inheritance when they die * Elder person -Two things: you may lose your house to pay for care, your family may not get to make decisions without powers of attorney. My challenge has been keeping it to questions and not talking too much, any suggestions welcome. I am convinced the market is massive if I can unlock and master the D2D for legal services, thanks in advance

I just got into solar, but am working with some experts on pitches. I'd recommend finding a neighbor with solar and fact find with them. It's much less intimidating for someone who already has solar, so just be friendly and find out what their experience was like throughout the process. Once you're done getting the info you need, ask their name. Then use it on your next door. "Hey my name is XXX and I was talking with your neighbor Betty about her solar array. She seems to love it - it's actually making her money through net metering! I was just wondering what was holding you back". And just like that you've made a connection, sparked intrigue, and set up a question that is framed for the to have to respond as to why they aren't taking advantage of a HUGE opportunity. Hope this helps.

I sold solar for a while and was successful at it. With solar, the most vital aspect to it is that you need to have a mindset that you are doing them a favor by even stopping by to talk with them. You need to be knowledgeable about the local electric companies and rates and you need to have conviction about the benefits of clean energy. Other than that, as with any sales job, you are there to make a friend not a paycheck...so be personable, study body language and leading, positive response, questions, and you will do well.

For the most part, the best ice breakers are organic and unplanned. If you notice something in the yard like a sport's team flag or unique landscaping you might comment on those types of things. The more original the ice breaker the more the prospect will view you less as a d2d salesperson.

  • @D2DMillionaire

The best time to knock doors is when somebody answers the door! :) Seriously, you only make money when you are talking with potential customers and people are home throughout the day, thus no matter what time you are knocking doors, you need to knock on doors when their are signs of life that somebody is home.

You told your audience WHAT to say, but told them very little about WHY they’re saying, what you’re telling them to say. The WHY is just as important as the WHAT, and in many cases, more important. You also missed the MOST IMPORTANT element of a sales pitch. Urgency! “Your neighbor is using our service, and so should you” just doesn’t cut it. You MUST. Provide urgency! And hey, what about the “take away.” You’re missing it bud, big time!
