You Need This In Your Pantry Before You Can’t Get It In The Stores

Thank you for Watching! With a dairy cow and multiple milking goats we have milk running out of our ears but nothing ever goes to waste. This is how we preserve all of our milk.

Goat cheese! From frozen goat milk…….wonderful. Buy a plastic tub for your bottom shelf that way if the lights go off and the milk thaws it won’t get all over your freezer. Dehydrated goat milk! Lucky people!

Just wondering why you don’t make Ghee which has a shelf life of up to 5 years, high burn point and great nutty flavour. Was watching Doug & Stacey and found it saves on Fridge and Freezer space especially if we have major power outages or EMT issues. Love you guys, keep rocking it 👍🏼🙏🏼❤️

Actually, I've found the burn point isn't as high as one would think, the "nutty" taste is not what I'm looking for in butter, and it does not bake in the same way as butter does. I'm a baker, a super taster, and I've made plenty of ghee (not clarified butter). Many think they're the same. I just may try making clarified butter, but so many projects going on ATM 🙃

If you prepare ghee right it tastes like butter in an oil. The nutty flavor comes from how long you cook off the water and milk solids.

Growing up on a small island (only 21 miles long) there were a few farmers that had dairy cows and there was a milk plant that pasteurized milk and sold it in glass bottles, it was so nice when my mom could afford to buy a bottle. I tell you that the cream took up 1/3rd to 1/4th of the bottle , the plant was an opportunity for people to have work and the milk was delicious. Then all of a sudden the Government stepped in and said all milk has to be homogenized. The farmers has to get rid of their cows and their beef animals so they lost their livelihood. So sad for everyone !

Gen, ya'll do it better and easier, I had to get up at 5am every morning before school and milk the cow by hand and again at 5 pm bring the milk in strain it then put it in the fridge. Till the next day then skim the cream off ,so much easier with what you have. Love watching ya'll seeing what your doing on the farm , keep up the good work and have fun with it, as I'm not as young as I used to be , but still going thank God, have my hogs and chickens and ducks , and I'm 73 . God Bless You and your Family,

I'm milking two ND does right now so I don't get gobs of milk but it's enough to make 1 lb butter and 2-3 lbs of cheese a week plus I soak the chicken's feed in the whey and add some to the dog and cat food. I don't drink milk but when the G-kids are here they do and I don't have to run to the store. I love having my own milk.

Not quite ready for the goat just yet, but have been entertaining the idea. My husband and I live on a fixed income. We've only owned this property (a little over 5 and a half acres)for 3yrs. and our priority has not been the clearing and the fencing. However, you have inspired us to get a dehydrator and we are going to start practicing dehydrating our eggs. 🤞 Thanks for clarifying what the bar was for and thanks for keeping on pushing for that self sufficiency. In today's world, were especially need those pushes. Looking forward to your next video! 🙂👍

In the 60's when I was in grade school. My aunt would buy all their milk from a local dairy. And when I would spend the night with my cousins. They only had that milk for our cereal. Well. I could not drink it. The look of it gagged me. And she would get mad at me. So I would use it on my cereal and have the same amount of milk left in my bowl after eating the cereal as before I ate. Then she would tell me to drink the left over milk in my bowl. Yuck. I would sit there as long as she made me and still refuse to drink it. Then she would give up. My parents bought homogenized whole milk. And that was what I was use too. I'm allergic to dairy now. And raw milk, it still would gag me at 62. Glad you all like it. But I couldn't drink it. I also have a real problem with food textures and also the look and smells of foods. And since I'm allergic to gluten and dairy. I cook all of our own meals. And I can most of the foods we eat, plus dry, freeze etc. I'd love to afford a freeze dryer some day. That would be awesome. If I wasn't allergic to milk I could make butter etc. Out of it. But not drink it. I know, I'm weird.

My wife and I want to start a homesteading type home. We went plant-based (vegan) about a year ago mainly for health reasons, so we won't have milk or any kind of meat. We thought about having chickens, mainly for fertilizing purposes and for eating bugs in the yard and even selling the eggs for those who need them. So, I think it will be a little easier for us since all we really have to worry about is a garden. But you all are very inspiring and I'm glad I found your channel! Thank you!

Jenn seat the kids on the floor and give the kids your jar with the cream in it. Let them roll it over to each other like they would a toy car.just a little way away from each other and after awhile of rolling it it will start thunking as it turns solid. It keeps them busy and have fun. You get your butter and no one has to keep shaking those jars . My siblings and I did this when we were little.

I remember going to my aunts farm and milking her cows, hand churning butter and whipping cream for homemade cream puffs she’d make with me. It’s the life I always longed for but never had….. We’d make all kinds of cheeses, yogurt, and yummy ice cream. Often mothers came to buy goats milk for their babies who couldn’t drink cows milk or formula. The homemade butter was so awesome on homemade rolls and bread….are you making zucchini bread yet? I’m going to make zucchini flour with the extra ones I get this year.I’m canning a lot of meat etc because power failure is a worrying with having three freezers…last year we lost over $400 of meats when the freezer went out in our upper barn and didn’t catch it in time….definitely 🤢🤢🤢
