To save your fuel, you can bring your pasta to a boil then shut it off. The pasta will continue to cook in the hot water.
Hi Jara, I am a new viewer and I appreciate the hard work and dedication you put into your channel. It has been so very helpful to me being a new prepper. I love everyone of your salad kits you have put together w special attention to every detail. I plan to make everyone of them. I'm not feeling quite so overwhelmed as I first did starting to prep less than a month ago. I must comment on the first video of yours I watched which was 3 meals for 4 people for 7 days, that was awesome! And I had a lot of the ingredients already on hand. Your thriftiness is a blessing for me being on Social Security. I like the butane burner that's a smart tip too. Please continue to explain thoroughly like you do, so helpful to us newbies and looking forward to more of your super good ideas.

We use tic tac containers for seasonings and reuse zip fizz containers for coffee creamer/sugar. Tyfs 👍
I just found your channel really interesting and very timely. Thank you! I loved your bagged meals. That's brilliant
I love and watch every meal in a bag video. Meals in a bag have saved my life and come in handy on more than one occasion. An emergency situation tends to hit unexpectedly. It feels so comforting to know that there’s a baggie of items that will make a beautiful meal. 💗
Hi, new subscriber here... A few extra ideas that I have tried and like... Cream of mushroom soup in Kraft dinner instead of butter and milk, add a can of peas and carrots for veggies, any canned meat for protein. .... For an awesome side dish.... Knorr chicken noodle soup, 3 cups of water instead of 4, add 1.5 cups of rice, a can of peas and carrots, simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally ... Thanks for your recipes and ideas ... you are Waaaay ahead of me, and I appreciate your ideas ...
Great video. Thank you. When I was getting ready to retire, I knew that it would be six weeks before my first retirement check arrived. Even though I prepared for it, I decided to challenge myself and make the first month a no spend month. Part of the readiness was making bagged meals. My Dollar Tree carries ziplock bags that are two gallon sized. I made many bagged breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and a few desserts. Even in my tiny home they did not take up a ton of space. I cannot wait to try the lemon dessert. 🥗
Fun fact... The tomatoes and olives are actually fruits. Great video!
I love your videos! I have been binge watching them. My husband and I have talked so many times about stocking up on shelf stable foods but I feel like your channel has tught me so much and now we can actually take steps towards our goal!
These salads look really good. Wanted to mention that there's no need to add so much water for pasta. Do a little googling and experimentation, but you can use minimal liquid, keep the lid on and the pasta will cook, absorbing the liquid and come out perfect with no need to drain because all the water is absorbed. Or maybe only a little to drain off. Also uses a lot less fuel for cooking. I'm Italian, I do this all the time. I'll put in the pasta, add a can of tomatoes and whatever and typically the water in the cans is sufficient to cook and all the flavors meld together. Very nice. Think of slow cooking when people add dry pasta closer to the end of the cooking and the pasta absorbs the liquid already there. Thanks for your video!
FYI if you put pasta in empty pot and then add water to a littler higher than covered around half inch, and cook till the water basically gone (right before it would burn) then set it aside(in hot pot) for a few minutes so it can absorb whatever is left. You don’t have to wait for the water to come to a boil and there is not water waste. Also if you are conserving fuel. You can add another pan for the lid and cook the spaghetti sauce

When I lived in Peru we were in an area without a lot of water. We used very little water for cooking and we would boil the water, turn it off and let the pasta sit/ covered until done.

@@muddyshoesgardener yeah you can cook pasta so that there is no water to drain
I love your videos. I live off grid, No trash service. Budget/environment tip. All vinegar based dressings, mustard, BBQ sauce, Ketchup, steak sauce, even pickles do not require refrigeration. Pickles can get soggy though. Save money and waist by buying small containers instead of packets.
I love this video. Thank you for bringing yet another way for SHTF meals. I especially love the way you show not only the building the bag meals but you show how to make them into the meal. Great job. Keep em comin. 🥗

I liked how you actually cooked each one as if in an emergency situation. That’s real.
I've always made my macaroni salad with tuna fish, carrots, celery, onions and peppers, I guess you would definitely need to use freeze dried veggies to replicate that way but it might be easily substituted with some canned veggies

A can of bean salad adds a lot. They have it in most any stores.
It helps canned chicken if you rinse it and flake it prior to mixing in the salad. I don't really like garbanzo beans but I like cannellini beans, that might appeal to those who don't like garbanzo and would fit with fit with a Italian style pasta salad.
Thanks for your channel. You put a lot of work into your videos!🥗

Yes I agree with you, Jara certainly does and it shows, I think she is a very smart, savvy prepper.
🥗 I have made something similar to the first salad you made, for many years. I call it my Garbage Bowl Salad! lol I load it up with any veggies that are sitting in the refrigerator that need to be used up. I also add chunk ham or chicken and cubed cheese. By the end of making it there is very little pasta and it overflows with fresh veggies. The Zesty Italian is a perfect compliment to it. Love your idea of adding garbanzo beans to it; I had not thought of that.
I've never seen ready made pasta before. What an excellent idea. I enjoy tuna in a salad and it is a good source of protein and omega 6. You have giving me some wonderful ideas. Thank you very much.

I use those packages of ready made pasta for my emergency bags. I buy them at the Dollar Tree. Very handy!
I will definitely be trying these recipes! I meal prep my lunches for work each week and the pasta salads will be perfect! 🥗
Hey Jara ! on the chicken, Caesar salad, definitely CRUNCHY on the kale chips. The other thing is I've made pasta salads and scooped them onto a bed of lettuce of course this is either when people have refrigeration, or if they have a garden full of lettuce, I can cut it daily as they need it. Love cold meals even in the winter because we don't have much of a winter in Florida. Just wanted to comment on this dish as I'm watching the video. Thanks for the info 😉🌴🦋
I like how you add water to your food. We just never know when we need water. Every time I empty a apple juice container I fill it up an we have fresh water for whatever we need for it.
Great ideas, tfs! 🥗
New to the channel. Thanks for the idea of using liquid from cans for boiling pasta.
I make a pasta salad using thinly sliced celery radishes grapes, throw in some raisins tiny cubes of cheeses olives a drained can of chicken and dressing of some sort. Sometimes it's a homemade Italian other times it's mayo or a Mayo/'wicked' cashew and beet sauce sold commercial. I put this in recycled glass jars for our lunches. By the time the veggies are all in there's actually only a little pasta. I like to sprinkle a little bit of nuts on top as I eat. I usually mix enough for 2 days. Save time on the second day. I sometimes get bogged down in what is for lunch today.
Great video, as always. I just made a pasta salad quite similar to yours...chickpeas are a must. I love your dressing ideas. Thank you Jara 😊. 🥗
Thank you for sharing.
Do you have the recipe and ingredients list printed anywhere I looked in the description box and didn't see it so I came to the comments looking for it because in the video where you made the chicken broccoli rice dinner you put the recipe in the description box. And I appreciate it so much.
Jara, You are a gift from the Lord to those of us who are planning on protecting and surviving anything that comes our way. Thank you.
🥗🥗🥗 Love the lemon bar/cake at the end gonna have to try that 🥳 will go back and look at the size of the lemon filling that you used. Great video. Thanks for the information. 😎🌴🦋🥗
Another AWESOME presentation of ideas. I'm encouraging the members of our church and family members to follow your lead and come up with these and their own meals. 😄🥗
I Love these so much, thank you! Can't wait to make the first one, and I think I will add artichoke hearts to it, too. 🥗
Great ideas. We love pasta salads, fruit salads and main dish salads in the summer. Also 3 bean salad or macaroni salad too
These bag meals are brilliant! Thank you so much!
Thanks for doing all of the hard work. Your videos are great
Thanks for this information
another meal in a bag winner, thanks.
Awesome!!! Loved the pea pasta, and Lemon cake/bar ideas!!😚
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information with us. Blessings
I cook like that on a regular basis, that's how I was able to feed my family of seven for 6 months
Thank you for sharing 😊
Just thinking instead of canned ham, try spam in that salad!
🥗 everything looks so yummy. Thanks for the wonderful ideas. 🥗
🥗This is a great idea for your working kids, when they get home and handy for family dinner for them.
WOWZA!!!! You’re a genius!! And you’re exactly right. I have a ton of stuff but not sure any of it goes together. I love your ideas. Thanks so much ❤
You can get Worcestershire sauce powder on Amazon.
Fantastic video! Thanks!
Hello from Mississippi Jara😊😊😊
🥗 Thanks for sharing the video
I dont put my parma in frig either. Never had in 40 years.
🥗 one thing I’ve done from Dollar tree is getting a box of stuffing, couple cans of chicken, either cream of chicken/mushroom/ chicken gravy, chicken a la king (couple cans of the soups or one can of soup and chicken broth usually depends on what i have on hand Mix it together and bake it .. i dont use the instructions on the stuffing mix as the soup, chicken and broth/gravy will make the mixture wet enough you can add veggies inside of it or just add them to the side. It’s comforting as it gives you the quick taste of thanks giving w/ out all the work .. since my husband passed away it’s just me and im not going to try to fix a big meal like thanksgiving for just myself it seems so wasteful
I liked this one. As I’m watching in late June in NC we are having a heat dome. It was 87 at 10 this morning.
New viewer...excellent video
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us on prepared Pantry.
I make classic macaroni salad as a base, then we decide what protein we're in the mood for, like tuna, salmon, shrimp, cooked egg, etc also add shredded carrot and make what we like.
This was so Awesome 🎉🎉I needed lunch ideas that I did not have to heat up thanks ❤❤❤
Thank you for all of your suggestions and ideas í
Super video! This is opening up a whole slew of ideas for me whether SHTF or not. Thanks.
i love your videos! thank you Jara
Happy Sunday, Jara! ☀️
I just found you! I love your video & I will continue watching! Thank you for what you do!
I love these ideas! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for ideas to put into a local blessing box, these meals are wonderful! 😊
Very helpful. Thank you.
Wonderful meal ideas. Helping this newbie with meal and cooking tips. I love the way you drain can liquid into pasta water. Is there a shelf life on restaurant condiment package and do you refrigerate them? Wondering about Arbys Horsey sauce. Thank you. Love your channel.
As a kid growing up, my mom would make pasta salads as the main meal during the summer. Unfortunately I have a picky husband and he doesn't do pasta salads :( But these are great!!!
I love Angel Food cake ! I’m trying this out on my coworkers this week ! Thanks
Good Morning Jara!

And the lemon cake! 😋
🥗🍋 great ideas will look into the bags or use zips. Tks
I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a simple filtration device to filter the waters you get from the cans? You could at least get rid of the food particles, color and maybe some of the salt & tastes.🍋Love it, looks delicious!🍋 🥗
Do you have a video on canning cheese from blocks
Hey J and R..Green and Kalamata olives ,we use on Red Barons to jazz it up..They would go well on the salad..Once a week we have a cool , low /no meat , huge salad , bread , melon , berries , manderin oranges with a scoop of Blue Bunny soft serve.. The chix cesear salad looks WICKED Smaht..Nice job as always
The ideas and tips presented in this video are awesome. Although I'm in a single person household and try to stick to healthy food I can surely adapt the ingredients in your video to suit my needs. For instance, I would substitute canned salmon or canned chicken for the ham in the 3rd meal bag since I don't eat pork.
Dollar tree has the small pan spray also for the cake too
I love your ideas!!! I hate the kale chips tho😊
I am too a new viewer. I love your ideas and definitely give them a try. Was wondering I have quite a few empty pill bottles will they work for liquids such as the Worcestershire sauce?
You have such a great ways to plan ahead,I enjoy watching what you do (salad emoji), love the lemon dessert cant wait to try it
Love these meal ideas. A friend of mine is new to prepping ideas. I’ll be sharing your videos with her.
❤❤❤
I love bag meals.
You are SO smart!
Always such great ideas!
🥗 great video! Salad 🥗
Kroger and Meijer carry Keystone. In my stores they are always the very bottom shelf. They are the large size, though.
An olive is considered a fruit because it has a seed in it.
Regarding the worcestershire sauce - I have never seen them in packets, but I have a powdered version that I got online - works great!!
🥗 Good job
Vegetable is a culinary term. A fruit can be a vegetable.
Great ideas!
I don't think I have ever eaten artichoke hearts before. I may have to get a can just to try out.
think the only condiment i'm comfortable leaving out of the fridge after opening is soy sauce
I take a fork to the meat to break it up after i drain it. Canned beef also good in hamburger helpers.
Love the all the recipes! I am pretty new to your channel and appreciate you sharing the recipes with us. I am doing dry mixes and using old spaghetti sauce jars for the meals. I thought I could use old baby food jars for seasoning mixes. Another idea is using a seal a meal to make segments in the bag and then add your spices, bacon bits and/or croutons and then seal the top. They’d be lightweight if you had to leave your residence in a SHTF situation. I wonder if you could use the sealer for making your own oil, sauce packets. Great for camping. I really think your idea of buying smaller sizes might work well for my situation because it is just me and my oldest son. Then I wouldn’t have to waste a whole jar of mayo if there’s no electricity for the refrigerator. I’d love to see your pantry and how you organize your meal bags. Thanks for all your great ideas!
🥗Great ideas!
I'd like to see meal in the bag using Zatarain's rice mix .. I use it for a Bojangles chicken and rice bowl imitation
I have had issues with pop tops on tomato based items get rust around the top. I have moved these items to the front of my pantry to use up.
I was so much thinking about your 1 box, 4 people $75 food box when the fire hit Maui because even though Lahana people are being given food at emergency shelters, towns west of Lahana say they can't get food supplies in and also much of the electricity isn't working......The food might cost a bit more in Maui but I hope you can suggest to The Governor of Hawaii or a food charity to truck in an entire lorry of these boxes with the $20 capstove included, a basic can opener and loads od those butane canisters with recipe cards and then at least families can feed themselves.......Outside Lahana the houses are still standing but everything else is not working......P.S. No, I don't live on Maui but your food boxes was the first thing I though of after the disaster.
