The bit of rock you picked up at 5:35 is a piece of thunder egg. Nice find, Chris.
Chris - Thank you for taking the time to edit this video. Well done!
That is great. If I cannot get out and do it myself, I appreciate you taking us along with you.
Hey Chris, I have a dumb question. Have you ever fossicked an old gravel or sand pit in your area? Do you even have such things in Ozzie? Here in the states, there are quite a few places where companies mine sand and gravel deposits, selling the product as play sand, or for construction materials. Anyway, they use a vibrating contraption to separate and grade the material, like a dry washer, I guess. Some of the old abandoned sites (usually from smaller, independent operations) still have tailings piles, with untouched layers of heavies in them. (After all, most people don't even know there is gold in my area, unless they are in the hobby...) Hope my question made sense, because I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack.

Some of these sand mines have lots of gold! Old prospector once told me a story how back in the 90-s they taught such mine operators in Bulgaria to extract the gold from the sand to earn additional profits. They simply added large sluice boxes to the wash plants. And immediately they began to extract on average 5 grams of gold per day. Enough to pay for the fuel cost of the whole operation! But they had to keep it quiet, because they didn't have permit for a gold mining company. 🙂They only have permit for mining sand for construction.

Yes we do have these things here.Australia is very big on all sorts of mining, a very modern technology country, so modern we don’t carry guns around and shoot each other on a daily basis. America should try it, it’s much safer.
Well done Chris, loved the experience you bring to this format
Well done Chris, informative as usual and with some fun too. One of these days Chris…..you’re going to find some cracking nuggets

@@wamlartmuse2983 I absolutely love Jeff so I don't want to sound like I'm talking down about him but sometimes the funny overrides the information and it gets a little......... Well, annoying. I know that sounds terrible because I really do like the man.. I am a huge fan of Pioneer Pauly and Dan Hurd as well and I liked the collaboration that him and Pauly did.! Definitely not hating on him, just sometimes it feels a little forced on the humor end of things. 😁
Chris, been following your videos for awhile now. So relaxing and grounded... Thank You!!
Very informative and entertaining to watch Love senior videos and your dog on in all of them thanks for the good time Chris can't wait for the next one
So much fun watching you do all the work. Just kidding...your enthusiasm is always a treat to watch.
Love your explanation of technique and the differences in the equipment as well as your tempered enthusiasm. Your time and energy management is important too.
This is an extraordinary job, identification is held before work begins
Great show ,that's so cool to use the old rocker box out there
Thank you Chris, just what I needed. Laid up six as a summer newt at home.
Hi Chris! Well you have got me into the hobby! Thanks for your invaluable guidance on here to help newbies get started!
Outstanding video and content Chris! Very well done and so much to learn from you. Even if I'm not in Oz.
At 6:30, you are on my rock hound heart's dream pebble bar! WOWZER! Lucky Chris finding some gorgeous crystals. The natural cabochon looks like a colour variation of Carnelian. 💖
Great episode Chris, the hard of prospecting is Finding the gold. Soooo true
Well done Chris. Got to hit those spot while the water is there. Nice take mate. Regards Andrew 👍😁
Thanks Chris! As always very inspirational
Good Job Brother. As Always Thanks for letting us join your Adventure :) Cheers
Love the video Chris. I was thinking that you had over a gram in the highbanker clean up. That smokey Quartz Crystal was a ripper as were all the other finds on the recon day. I think if I was you I'd try the highbanker at the rocker box spot if you ever have enough water there again. Cheers and thank you for sharing your adventures
I’ve never been to Australia and I’m not 100% familiar with the fungus therein, but I believe that fungus was what is colloquially known as witches butter.
24:16 and you are showing a formation and sign above . A dove appears in the same crystal form above it. You are being peacefully watched over, Brother Chris. You show well on here , too. Cheers! 🤟
thats a really nice clean up form reedy creek, and the rocker box did pretty well too....
You could add some small manual pumps to the rocker box to combine the shaking and the water flow to be easier
Another well done choreographed prospecting video. You should check out Robs finds they are exceptional. He is a professional well respected prospector and has 40 plus years of prospecting experience and geological knowledge, knows the area up there like the back of his hand.
Hot... Muggy... and slightly Cold... Sounds like a perfect summer day!!!
Hi Chris I’ve been watching your channel for sometime now and I’ve taken a lot of points from what you put out Your videos have a lot of good information and put a lot of work into it. You’ve got a quarter quirky sense of humour which I like. Keep up the good work stay safe
Chris your commentary in you videos are excellent. Always look forward to your video's. Cheers mate.
Thanks for posting this!
yes, i need one of those micro highbanker. (bad back). and a one inch suction dredge., yeah, that should work.
The way I see it $71 for 3 hours work that is roughly 30 maybe $35 an hour after taxes for having fun in the woods seems like a win-win to me
Jolly good, thank you loved it!
Has the Gold Commissioners compound been checked out yet? It's high above the creek and across the track from a very old memory.
Your channel and furball are awesome....never bored watching you.
That looks like so much fun!
Nice historic tool you showed !!! Good luck from canada
I love highbankers. Mine is a "Goldwell Sluice" with my homemade battery powered trommel and a bilge pump for the water that I bring to the dry creek I also iike the broad. brimed hat and long sleeve shirts.
I am envious of your crystal finding! LOL See how addicting rockhounding can be.
You have far too much fun. Which is so good to see. Take care brother.
thank you for sharing the adventure and nice gold high banking and the rocker box doesn't look to bad either. 😉 😀 👍
Nice Day out & about brother Chris!

What do you think about trying to use a cordless leaf blower for your dry washer to try and save weight compared to using the gas powered vacuum/blower?
@markfryer9880
Жыл бұрын
It is an option, but remember that battery powered equipment is still not as powerful as petrol engine powered equipment in terms of performance against weight. Don't get me wrong, I love the flexibility of all of the cordless equipment available today, but there are times when you need to assess which power source is the best for the operation to be performed.
When you have really low water areas as long as you have some flow dig yourself a good size hole in line with even a small flow and where you might not have had a deep enough spot to scoop water or pan it will then give you a spot where you have a larger sum of water that will build up and then not have any problem especially for using a rocker box or panning
There is probably a small army itching to fill your buckets for processing later if we could just get there. It's -20 celsius here. I'm not man enough to get out there, but 100 years ago my area (Edmonton Alberta Canada) was claimed 60 miles north and south of the city and those folks worked the river all year. Thanks for the vid

Working the river even in a Canadian Winter? They needed their heads read. How would you do it without freezing to death or getting hypothermia?
Nice one!😃
In ontario canada they don't even want you panning back into the river because the stirred up sediment can effect biology down stream. They want you to do it in a little hole a meter or so away from the river. No sluce boxes at all.
Think you could do a video on sizing an electric water pump? I’ve been wanting to build my own high-banker but I’m stuck trying to figure out what size pump to get.
25:35 71.50 Aus dollars for 3 hours on the high bank. Driving diesel 28.00 Pump petrol 4.00 Good lunch at outback dinner 22:00 Equipment cost, wear n tear. Awesome hobie, won't get rich, but it's fun and partially pays for it's self
The dog reverse digging gave me a good laugh
Enjoyed the video nice gold out the highbanker good job ⚒️⛏️🇺🇸🕳️
That smokeys in a feltspar matrix ive got some un worn down pieces just like that from a different part of the world
Black sand composed of mostly tin . Big smoky quartz crystals . Sounds like a greisen / pegmatite . Might be worth taking a much closer look at those gravels for tourmaline and / or topaz . Also , might be tungsten minerals present . They show up pretty well with a black light .

Someone had worked that rocker box spot before and they did a good amount you can see all the bigger rocks moved around theres some big gold in there ya just gotta keep gettin in that ground and or use that detector!

Geez I can't remember filming that first bit of the video.
If you ever come to the USA Idaho has some great hard rock mines and high banking.
I do these kinds of things out in public places and never get caught or in trouble
LOL... "It looks like the tree sneezed!" Good one.
Definitely worth a return trip for more.
Reckon you should ask the Mickelbergs. Legend has it they know a lot about gold and how to find it. Ton's of the stuff.
Two dogs, one scratch behind each each ear just because you always ask so nicely. And let's be honest, they deserve it. Keep the good videos flowing.
The rocker box is one of the most inefficient ways to processes material.🤪 The only advantage is that it works with very little water. My favourite method for remote mountain areas is mini highbanker with gravity feed. Dredging is also great fun but it's heavy and difficult to carry to remote areas.
@markfryer9880
Жыл бұрын
Dredging is outlawed in Victoria.
Great video, the fungus is White Jelly fungus I think.
You need to look under the biggest boulders in dry river beds.
How many solar panels would you need to run an electric water pump. Avoiding running out of petrol
Chris I think that you should go back there and please can you make a video of you build your rocker box please
Scratched my Dutch Shepherd and Mini Dash Hound behind both ears, just for you sir. Duggy and Toby love your videos too now. (Kinda shoulda called them Ren & Stimpy in hindsight.)
I found a little oval of polished wood from a lake a long time ago. Made it into an amulet for a girlfriend. She loved it more than me.
Great video the gold u got was amazing

Where are you located Colin?
A good day indeed.
How long do you usually spend in the same area before moving on to see if there is anything better?
Good looking gold ✨️ 👌
I’m thinking as that water comes off the high banker thing maybe set something underneath where the water comes out that could filter the water through and keep the material from above so you could actually check and see what amount your actually loosing . Your a smart guy I’m sure figure something out . Maybe a bucket or storage container drill holes about half n inch up from the bottom so the water gets out and the material stays ? Idk maybe you already do just shooting n idea

We just shovel the tailings in a pan and test what the loss rate is if we get alot of specks then we alter the highbanker on a lower angle and maybe drop the flow rate of the water.
