If Billy Gibbons made a guitar out of a cigar box and strung it with nylon fishing line, I'd listen to him play it. Seriously, he made pinch harmonics a Thing (capital T) before I remember anybody else doing it and could turn a simple blues scale into a hooky, memorable, aural assault. Legend. Top kept its lineup intact for 50 years. RIP, Dusty.

Billy Gibbons is an amazing player. His rhythm parts are almost always simpler than you think. Interesting how rarely he plays even 4 strings on a chord, let alone 5 or 6. Even more so on the early records. The king of implied harmony. Check out the two guitar part on "Brown Sugar" off the first album (right after the intro). One of the best duo parts ever. Fits perfectly rhythmically and harmony wise.

Man, everybody went crazy with the digital reverb/compression/noise gates on the drums back then didn't they? In-the-air-tonight-itis. They were trying to get Ludwig snares to sound like Roland 808. The 80's were weird. Oddly, I like some synth sounds, but really only the ones where they very obviously sound like a synth (like that little thing in Best friend's girl by the Cars).
