For me, adjustable comb makes most sense. Only down side is they’re slightly more expensive. If money wasn’t a variable then go adjustable, if you gain or lose weight or size you can adjust it to suit and costs nothing! Nice video mate 👍🏼

As always your videos are very informative.I agree with your opinion on adjustable stocks.Unfortunately for us in Australia(Victoria) we don’t have gun shops attached/located near clay target clubs that offer a service like yours.Many Thanks.

But if you want a particular gun and it doesn't fit, you'd have to get a gunsmith to adjust it anyway - and that usually costs more than an adjustable variant. Plus body shape can change over years, the adjustable can accommodate that at no extra expense!@@raymondhawkins881

I can see why you’d say that, as it makes sense to have something adjustable. But if you buy a gun that already fits, you avoid having a stock which you continuing faff with and never settle on an adjustment

I would love to see a video on the Beretta 694 vs Blaser F16 because they seem to be the main competitors in the middle of the range shotguns. I believe a video comparing these two sporting shotguns may do well because no one else has done a video comparing the two!

I would trade my 694 for an F16 in a heartbeat. The F16 feels so much better and different in a good way. Both of my kids have an F16 and if I had it to do over again I would have one.

hi david ive just had a ajustable comb put on my f16 i was going down the left hand side hopefully i will be able to alter comb to help,

I find that for myself, most guns I pick up can benefit from an adjustable butt plate more than adjustable comb. Even the more economical and easier to carry afield 20 bores can be made to accommodate the larger shooters by the capability to fit it for length of pull and shoulder pocket placement. Only after I have the gun within the parameters that i need there, do I evaluate whether or not a comb adjustment would help. I find that if a large target board is used for checking the fit it helps evaluate your fit efforts. I take a meter square white board with a three inch center dot at fifteen meters. I get into proper stance and with lowered gun, I site the target and quickly raise shoulder and shoot. Much quicker than usual! I try to eliminate any possibility of aiming instead of pointing. I find this affords me the ability to more precisely measure the center of pattern and thus determine if the gun is actually adjusted to fit me as needed. I only shoot one shot per board and force the shot to be quicker than what I would need to aim. I never take my eye off the dot and it works for me! This technique give the confidence to shoot instinctively and quickly. The gun proves its self to be an extension of your body and take the mind out of questioning the fit.

I'm about 5'11" slender, long in the neck and low in the shoulder. I know it's very different but I do a lot of freestanding rifle shooting (LSR .22LR, 10m air ,ect). Adjustable stock's a must for me, cheek rest very high butpad very low. For shotguns I'm yet to find out but finally after waiting two and a half years my SGC arrived this morning. 😁

​@@MoorlandMarksmanYes, Devon Cornwall & Dorset. However Dorset (my county) are becoming fully independent. They handled the tail end of the process which thankfully happened fairly quickly. It's been a nightmare for everyone down here this past couple of years.

@@kevinedge9824 Yes we live in Dorset. Their firearms team should be fully independent come April. The advertised phone number is still conjoined at present. I personally used the online contact form late January. A chap form Dorset soon got in touch and got the process moving. Annoyingly D&C had lost my GP Proforma so had to pay my Dr for another which added a couple more weeks to the process. Evidently there's quite a number of applicants that have been waiting over two years but they are working through the backlog. Might be worth using the contact form to send a very polite message. I started my application in Sept 2021 BTW.

If you seen how a Bt-99 is adjusted to me, I only had the buttplate adjusted

I mounted one that I can see the whole rib and it was too high for me. It caused me to shoot over the top of the bird. I find if I'm looking down the barrel and I just see the top of rib that it fits me better.

Put adjustable comb on my 1990s Beretta whitewing. Completely changed the gun.

But with an adjustable comb. The gun will fit for life. Put weight on or lose weight. Your gun won't fit correctly. Go to the gym. The gun won't fit for long. Adjustable comb is the right gun to buy for 90%.

Just another gimmick for people to get hung up about, same as chokes.... Buy a gun that you like that fits you the nearest off the peg, get a gun fit booked, get said gun altered by a qualified experienced gunsmith, end of.

Funnily enough I just went to a gun shop and they said there's no way you can get a gun to straight off the shelf. His advice was to buy a gun you liked and keep money aside to have it correctly fitted to you... I'm not hearing that in this vid!

Buy a fixed comb and if needed get an adjustable fitted, factory adjustable combs are setup far too straight and low, the right cast is more important

You only need an adjustable comb if 1. It doesn’t fit you and the gunsmith can’t adapt it 2. It will improve your gun fit If the gun is only used by yourself, an adjustable comb will/should only be adjusted once and that’s it
