I use a fresh washcloth sized “makeup eraser” type microfiber towel to dry my face, every morning and evening. (They’re a dupe, in a multi pack, from Amazon.) I also use similar mini pads to apply eye makeup remover, micellar water or toners. (I wash the eye makeup off the cloth, with a bit of hand soap, hang to dry and then toss into my hamper, to machine wash, the end of the week. That gets most of the makeup off the pads and avoids any makeup getting on other stuff in the washer.) There really is no need to buy disposable cloths and pads…

All I can think of while watching this girl talk about the disposable wipes is, why not just use toilet paper and then let it dry so you can use it for "something else". This is ridiculous. I tend to use a wash cloth to rinse my face at night (because I'm a messy face splasher), I then use a dry clean wash cloth to dry my face and use that one the next night to wash with so I'm always washing and drying with a clean washcloth.

Years ago, I starting buying 12" square white cotton washcloths. I have over one hundred of them in constant rotation so I can always use a fresh towel to pat dry my face and then wipe down the counter. I also use the towels to remove the occasional mask or stubborn makeup. Because I have so many, I can dedicate a single load of laundry to washing them in hot water. If one gets too dingy or rough, I relegate it to my stock of house cleaning rags. I like having a fresh "towel" for my face that hasn't used throughout the day for drying hands.

@@21972012145525 I think you misunderstood. Each time a wash my face, I dry it with a clean, fresh cloth. I then use the same towel to dab/wipe any water than might have splashed around the sink. That towel is then dropped in a hamper and not used again until it has been washed. If a towel gets a stain from cosmetics (mascara, etc.), then it is relegated to the household rag bag. I don't scrub my face with a cloth and my professional cleaners take care of the weekly scrubbing/cleaning in my house.

How about just wash your towels?

  • @natashad517
    @natashad5178 ай бұрын

I actually purchased these specifically for a trip and found them to be rough feeling on the skin. If you have a towel specifically for the face at home there is absolutely no need for these. Stop doing all kinds of weird things with your towel like wiping your counters etc and then wiping your face with it and wash it regularly you won’t have issues.

But I like mine. Budget derm recommended them months ago. They come in handy. I use the edges of mine to dry my hands later.

What I do is buy the small cotton towels at target and I use those as a one time use for my face. So much better than using disposable wipes. Sometimes in lazy to do laundry and I use my towel. These girls are wild 😅

I have been doing what Dr. Dray has been doing when it comes to drying my face for about a year now. I just don't wipe my face. My country is hot so it won't take long for my face to dry so I just stopped wiping my face. I will put on moisturizer when my face is still rather damp and I like how it feels... Honestly, Dr. Dray is making me spend less on taking care of my skin without compromising the results. Thanks, Dr. Dray! ❤❤❤

I appreciate this video alot. I'm also glad that you addressed washing linens "regularly", but I would even dare to say---- wash and CHANGE linens out (especially towels and pillow cases) frequently. I think alot of people do not consider washing very thoroughly and changing these items often enough. Great video, Dr. Dray! Thank you!

Thank you! These things are so wasteful! I bought about 12 small, white towels (sort of like a cross between a hand towel and a washcloth size) some time ago and I use them only to dry my face, I use a clean one each time I dry my face, and I wash them after each use. As long as you're doing your laundry correctly they get clean.

I provide the Kleenex towels for guests, because many don’t like to use a communal towel. Also the box I obtain from Amazon lasts me a year. However, I don’t use them.

I use them when I’m travelling as it’s unhygienic and inconvenient to have wet face towels when you’re moving around. But otherwise I have a large stash of reusable ones that I wash and disinfect.

Many years ago you mentioned you don't use a towel to dry yourself so I began to do the same. Now after I turn off the water, I kind of push the water or lightly squeegee my face with my hands. After a minute or so, my face is damp and it's time to put the moisturizer on. And actually I have put moisturizer on with very dripping wet face at times, too

The only dermatologist I trust on here … Wow this video came at the perfect time!!! Was just contemplating if buying those disposable towels was necessary .. THANK YOU! One question .. HOW clean do my hands need to be when I apply moisturizer on a clean face? I have a similar routine as you after shower .. turn water off, tie hair up, use an oil on my wet skin while I’m STILL in the shower .. then between opening the shower door, using that oil on my skin and stuff I feel like I need to wash my hands again before moisturizing my face ?? At this point my face is already dry and I’ve heard it’s not good to let it air dry completely unless you’re moisturizing while still damp … thoughts ?

I also feel like theres other more sustainable option like buying 10 small toweles or cutting up an old cotton shirt. If you have 14 little scares to dry your face and just wash them regularly after each or two uses you get your single use towel without the garbage.

It there a face towel and wash cloth you can recommend for sensitive skin? Would microfiber be better than terry? Or, is there some other material I have not heard about? Thank you so much for your videos.

Great Advice Dr Dray! Thank you for all the informative information. I buy the cheap washcloths at Target or Walmart and use a clean one every time I wash my face. Wash in hot water twice a week. When they start looking ragged I use as cleaning cloths. I change my pillow cases twice a week. Sheets once a week. My skin looks great at age 71.

These have been useful to me while traveling or whenever I don't feel like doing laundry. My regular towel works fine, it goes into the hamper after each use. Overall I'm spending money on laundry detergent and my water bill or buying these from Clean Skin. I can say that my motivation for purchasing had nothing to do with acne, moreso a convenience, my face is fine due to consistency and proper sunscreen use ❤

This is me! I buy mine to wipe my neck area in the morning. I take the disposable face towel, wet it and wipe the neck area because I don't wanna get my shirt wet. I never wipe my face to dry, i air-dry it. I could use a regular towel, but it's the hassle of doing ANOTHER LOAD of laundry for it. I have OCD when it comes to laundry so I don't wanna make it worst.

I used to be someone who used tissue paper to dry my face until I stopped doing that and would just "squegee" the water off my face using my fingers, that leaves it damp enough for me to then go in with my hydrating toner. It feels more hydrating.

I just bought myself some small guest towels, that I use 1 or 2 times to dry my face, and then wash them. Heck, for just your face you could use a towel as small as a washcloth.. Or, just use nothing! I use them to dry my hands afterwards too etc. Keeps my face clean, don’t have to dry my face with my body towel, and I don’t have to wash all these bigger towels all the time. Single use things should be used only if absolutely necessary, or there is no other option.
