I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

That’s never how it worked. That’s the lie you were sold and, unfortunately, bought into. It was always a transfer payment system from the active working class to the retirement cohort. At its inception, the ratio of workers to retirees was about 13:1. Surpluses were common. Now people live much, much longer past “retirement” age. With the baby boomers moving heavily into retirement, the ratio is now less than 5:1. Social Security has also been tapped into for disability and other programs expansion for payments to non-working populations, so the “fund” accelerated toward its breaking point.

Once the government dissolved the ss lockbox and dumped the program into the general fund it became an entitlement. It reflects a fundamental failing of liberal democracy. People keep voting for more government and more government handouts until the economy collapses. The problem cannot be solved proactively.. It can only be resolved by a major crisis. Voting should be regarded as a privilege and be restricted to qualified taxpayers.

Most of what you say is true, however, without covering some other facts, you leave the voters in limbo. My point is, before the COVID shut down, Trumpty had a plus 2% inflation with a Plus 4% GDP, which in turn, would balance the budget in 30 years. Make that GDP plus 5% and the US would balance in 22 years. It is up to the Voter. Can pay.

I don’t get it. I feel like Tom Hanks character in the movie Big. I didn’t go to college but…. How many years have these college educated people, called our government/politicians been getting the United States into debt? And why hasn’t somebody done something about it? How do you spend money like this that YOU don’t have?

From the amount of money that the United States gives away, I find it hard to understand that in order to actually cut government spending that you have to cut the entitlements first. Just think of how much of the debt can be brought down if you start now pulling back the "give away" money to other countries and use that to pay down the debt. Not to borrow more so that you can try and sneak a bribe in such as "loan forgiveness".

Actually, you can save US from calamity! All you have to do is create legislation that allows for government and charities to offer preferred stock on public exchanges. Allow the preferred stock to be based on infrastructure projects, minerals, energy, commercial and industrial real estate, and agriculture. Then, allow the charitable and government debt markets to convert their debt into the equities of the preferred stock with the same tax-exemption status of charitable and government bonds. Then, you can allow government departments and agencies to be run by charitable organizations to significantly "reduce the financial burden of government: and reduce the tax burden of the people of the United States. Frankly, every funding need government has would be based on bonds as they are now and on the equity market performance. Most of what the government does can be funded through charitable organizations that are competing against each other to provide the best value to the people.

It was designed to be like a retirement insurance policy. There are those who pay in for 40 years but die before collecting any or within a few years. This offsets those who live longer ultimately collecting more than they paid in. That's exactly how insurance works.

My brother paid in for 45 years working after he could have collected it and then he died in a motorcycle accident without collecting a penny of the money he paid in. In a 401K scenario, where does his money go? The way it was designed for people that happen to live longer still have livelihood security. As a strictly SS fund the money would be there, it would balance out. But the greedy government had to get their hands on the money and roll the SS account into the general fund and pretend it's a freebee gift when you collect back what you paid into it.

We need to stop funding other countries. We need to start to taking care of our own people. Until these politicians realize this the American people are screwed. FJB and his cronies. Trump 2024
