Have you tried using a cough assist machine? I use one and it has really helped me and avoided wet coughs getting worse. I use one called Nippy Clearway. It's basically a machine than pushes air into your lungs then sucks air out like a vacuum. Really helps.

I sing on my channel to strengthen my breathing. I'm a C3 quad but ASIA C so although the muscles around my diaphragm are weak too I can control them. My cough is currently like yours lol
