Responding to a Comment about My Hands

Over the years, I've gotten many questions about my hands and fingers and after a recent comment on KZread, I thought I would talk more about this. Hope you enjoy listening!

I've been a C4-C5 quad for about 9 years now, and after my injury, physio wanted to put splints on my hands as well, but my vanity got the best of me, and I refused the splints. It has definitely been more difficult to pick things up, but I have adapted.

I think you are amazing to teach people so many things. I follow you but never had thoughts about your hand movements but you taught me and I am sure many people about the movement and different levels of injury to the spinal cord. You are the sweetest!

I also have a C5 C6 disability. But I have use of my thumbs and some of my first fingers in both hands. I can definitely see the benefit of having your fingers and hands closed though. I wear gloves during the day and splints at night to keep them open however. Mostly to use a manual chair. Are you able to use a manual chair?
