    Very interesting. Can you please let me know the product reference for this combi-steam. Miele offers so many options it's hard to differentiate one from the other.

    Thank you Joe; very much appreciated. Again I really like your down-to-earth style and honesty. One tip if you do another oven video, especially when it is less than 30", is to really measure the practical use size INSIDE the ovens. Wall-to-wall doesn't really do it as the rack, and runners take up some room. I have recently been going back and forth with Miele USA without real good success on getting this information for their convention-only 24" model, but I am going to have to find a private vendor here and visit i guess, but for me, knowing the working (what actually fits) size of things in all these speed ovens and steam ovens becomes invaluable when trying to pic. Have a great New Year, and I look forward to learning more in 2023 from you.

    Trying to decide on a steam oven.. u mention not liking the Thermador. Is that the older steam oven, not the larger one? Do you personally feel the $ difference is worth going with Miele?

    We own the speed oven/microwave piece, and the combi-steam oven shown in this video. He's right -- no need for a 30 inch oven. We've done Thanksgiving in them and it works. The embedded microwave is a miracle. That's one less piece to put on the counter, or under the counter top. To hear that we can use the steam oven in some cases where it performs better than a microwave...wow. We haven't tried that, but will. I have definitely experienced the "lava hot on one side of the food and cold on another side", so if the steam oven fixes that, I'm in love. I like Wolf's UI. And the knobs (we have a Wolf cooktop). I don't like scrolling in Miele...it takes forever. I stopped using that and punch in times to cook. The scrolling just doesn't work well or easily. And the power button. I have to press it hard to turn on/off. Not a fan of the power button. And older lady might not be able to turn it on. It's not like "just tap it". No. It's "press hard". Why? I do love that the ovens turn off by themselves after a period of no use. Love that. I didn't know Bake setting was not bake. Now THAT might explain what's been going on with my wife's cookies. Lol!!!!!! It's still a great oven. Get both the steam and microwave versions. Highly recommended. And have a strong man around the house to turn it on/off. Smh....

    I just got mine and also had issues with the power button. I learned I was not pressure to get the power button to work it was “surface”. I use my thumb and it turns on/off like a dream, little pressure just make sure you cover the whole indent button, and hold

    I'm deciding between the DGC 6865 (XXL) and the DGC 6845 (XL). Do you have comments on the difference between the two? I know that the XL has 3 rows and the XXL has 4 rows, so the XXL has greater capacity. But, does it take longer to heat up to the same temperature? Does it feel more cumbersome to quickly steam a small batch of vegetables? Are there any other differences between the two? Thank you!

  • @theappliancereview

    @theappliancereview

    Not really, just the size. I doubt that Miele is using different heating element wattages between the two versions so my guess is that you’re correct. (The larger oven may take longer to preheat). I think I prefer the smaller 45 CM oven for this reason. 😁

    My Miele Steamer leaves a pool of water at the bottom every single time I use it. There is no drain. Is this normal? Do I need to sop up the water every time I use it? Or can I have a plumber plumb the unit? Don’t know if my unit is plumbed or non plumbed.

  • @theappliancereview

    @theappliancereview

    Try putting one of the non perforated trays on the bottom rack position when you cook and see if it collects the majority of the water. I recall having some success with method on one of the Steam only (no drain) models.

    @@theappliancereview Thanks. It definitely helped. Most of the water collected on the drip pan. But there’s still sitting water. I think I just didn’t know that after each use, a wipe down of the entire interior is necessary.

    Sorry Lyndon, It’s since been discontinued and replaced with a newer model. Try looking for a MIELE DGC 7770 CTS for the most up to date version. The 7770 is non-plumbed and the 7775 is the plumbed version. There’s also a new DGC 7570 non-plumbed version with a smaller touch screen. At some point I’m going to push myself to do a video on the newer models .

    @@janinapiotroski7457 That is the DGC 6700-1 XL shown with an optional EBA 6708 Trim Kit to give it the 30 inch wide finished look. You can also find the plumbed version with the model designation DGC 6705-1 XL. Miele also offers both a plumbed and non-plumbed version with their “PureLine” styling. The PureLine model designations are almost identical with an 8 in place of the 7, DGC 6800-1 XL (non-plumbed) and DGC 6805-1 XL (plumbed). 😉
