“So we beat on….boats against the current….born ceaselessly into the past……”
There’s something about this particular piece that is moving, heartbreaking, resounding, joyful, provocative, remorse, depressing, hopeful, and optimistic all in one piece. What a brilliant soundtrack.

I wonder if people know that this is an orchestrated version of Gotye's "Heart's a Mess". Check it out! It's quite a melancholic song. And I love it so much that Craig Armstrong was able to use it to add some truly beautiful enchantment and melancholy to this movie.

“I knew I could climb, If I climbed alone” - Jay Gatsby
"All the bright precious things fade so fast... and they don't come back."
I can’t explain how the great gatsby changed my life, there’s a Gatsby inside any of us, we’re all trying to reach that green light✨🤍
Ever since I found this audio iv been using it to read or look for books at Barns and Noble. For some reason it keeps me sane. Who ever is reading this I hope your having a beautiful day!

I love this tune so much too. But I can't reli listen to it while doing other stuff, every time i hear it i just become sad and Leonardo DiCaprio's face will show up in my brain 🤣
I think there will always be that part of us that has a deep yearning no one knows about, not fully. And the essence of it only comes out in a moment of solitude, like this, when we realize what we're holding onto is very much alive, even if it passed us by, never to be recovered. Sometimes the memory is enough to help you through the dark; like a beacon to a ship otherwise lost at sea.

What i loved the most about Gatsby what his unyielding hunger for success, to grow and become something and the self-perception of immeasurable potential highlighted when he gazed at the stars almost mirroring all his potential like an innocent God capable of achieving anything and everything... He knew letting himself fall for daisy would compromise his clear path to greatness and it ultimately did... he said it himself, if it was;t for daisy he could have become a great man still but turned his averted his eyes from greatness and had tunnel vision for Daisy.
“I might still be a great man if I could only forget that I once lost Daisy. But my life, old sport, my life has got to be like this… It’s got to keep going up.” There is a parallel to all of us in Gatsby-we all reach for a green light; something, someone we are striving for. That unattainable dream-so beautiful-it makes us desperate to possess it, until it possesses us. The tragedy is we can never truly have it. We come up short; it’s completion always just out of reach. And ones greatest triumph, becomes one’s ultimate downfall.
When you feel the fight to get back the one you love after a decade of ups and downs starts to fade day by day, when you have lost all hope and deep down you know what was once there, isn't there anymore. The green light starts to fade and you have to pick up your own pieces. Knowing when to walk away is one of the hardest things you will have to learn.
The confidence this song gives a man is unprecedented. Too look deep into the eyes of a woman who you absolutely love and still know there is a chance she won’t be yours and accepting that and walking away like a gentleman is legendary. That’s what I get from listening to this.

Feeling this right now, was with this girl for 10 years and we watched this movie in the theaters and loved it. Became our movie. After so many ups and downs she moved on without telling me on Christmas eve 22 she abandoned me and this life we built. I came to this song to tell myself to let her go and find happiness even if it's not with me...
I remember when I was just 13 years old and was in middle school and I was with this girl named maria. She was beautiful and she had this smile that would be so hard to ignore, for me she took away all my pain, suffering and sorrow that I had in me and I would always smile back. One day I asked her to be my girlfriend and she said yes and to me it was like a reference to gatsby on how she felt the day daisy got married because she was with another but she loved me more and she didn’t want him. A couple months went by and she told me that she was going on a trip and she told me that she would be back, unfortunately she never returned because or her way there, she crashed and was killed during the incident, I remember holding her in my hands, the blood on the shirt she would always wear on a Sunday, the necklace I had given her had been broken by a long piece of metal that struck her. I was devastated and it reminds me of gatsby standing at the gate only instead I would always go to the cemetery and give her flowers on feb 14. To me every time I touch or hold my necklace would be my green light and every time I try to reach it i couldn’t get ahold of it because I knew that if I did I would be destroyed over and over again

Not gonna lie The Great Gatsby is my favorite movie. I always come back here just to listen and remember the awe I felt the first time watching this movie. Thanks for this, I always listen to the full 30 minutes, especially on YT Music when I'm going on a long drive. Wish I could give you a like every time I hear the song.

I am glad I was capable of truly having an impact on the life of one person in a positive way, that for me counts more than some likes
Looking at the person you loved from afar and watching them create a life that would’ve been yours but having to walk away because their happiness is what they deserve
I love it. Thank you. I don’t see sadness like the others do. What I see in the green light is hope. The hope that gatsby had that one day he will see daisy again. For me the green light represents my health and career goals and my hope to rebuild my family. Thanks for this.
this piece always make me cry, this is one of the best scenes ever made in my opinion
Daisy really did my boi dirty smfh 😭 but fr tho this film had one of the best soundtracks

To me daisy and gatsby loved each other but were in loved for what each other stood for rather than the actual people. Gatsby loved daisy wealth and status as he felt it would make him a real person while daisy loved gatsby freedom and friendliness as new money. In a way they were perfect for each other and other ways they weren’t. It’s up to you to decide if they were meant for each other for better or worse
- Daisy, why are you crying? And she just said - I have never seen so many beautiful things
We all have this green light shining in our lives...
Trivia: This melodic theme is taken from Gotye’s - Hearts a Mess

She appeared without warning. Shimmering into existence on the horizon. Truly an astonishing spectacle, one can’t help but stop and stare. One glance at her and you might think she’s heaven simply making itself known. We met two years ago. I dove headfirst and told her how I felt. She had a boyfriend so we didn’t get to talk much. She even removed me on social media because her boyfriend knew I liked her. But for a reason I can’t possibly imagine she added me back on social a month ago. So maybe Gatsby was right, if you are patient, hardworking, and understanding, perhaps you can repeat the past.

never knew that i needed this, for being happy.
i’ve never hated characters more than i hate the buchanans. “they smashed up things and creatures and retreated into their money.” every time i hear this i want to cry thinking about gatsby and how he deserved so much better than daisy buchanan. he was the only one i truly liked from that book 💔
I write to this restarting it every 30 min ...

This might be off topic a lil bit I love this movie great theme, but what's the interval once the notes start ascending at around at 1:22 I'm currently learning basic music theory ear training for producing and I just want to associate a song or theme with an interval to try to help remember a lil I'm not sure if its notes together being played like chords or interval like. I'll find out soon on my own, but if someone can help it'llbe very appreciated. :)

This is probably super late but I just now saw your comment. The harmonics of this song are gold. So I think we are in the key of D minor and that first interval at 1:22 is a minor 3rd from D to F (at least that's the one I hear most strongly, but the F is part of an inverted "i" chord), I think...

Daisy never loved him, she was just a selfish FOOL😢
I don't want anyone to get caught up fighting or being offended over religion and beliefs...just listen to my opinion on this piece.... When I hear this piece it makes me think of God and His children, and in a way He is similar to Gatsby (without the human flaws and crime). He sits in His palace, with nothing but love and admiration for His child, and He knows that His child is just across the bay...but the child is lost in earthly sin. They chose Tom Buchanan (the devil) instead, who lured them with fancy expensive pearls, pride and fame among the people. The child of God became a debutante. I can feel God's sadness as He stands on that dock, longing for a relationship that was heart-breakingly one sided. This is why I place so much importance in my relationship with God. I know personally how much He loves his creation and how much He has given for us. It pains me to envision Him standing there alone with all He has to offer just behind Him.
