Actually, the lead bobber is a lifesaver in my humble opinion. Stopping the blasted bobber from bouncing on the bottom has kept MANY hard and legendary fish from escaping me. I can't hardly stand fishing without it!

I know it’s a bit late, but quick tip: if you click just as the bobber is about to hit the bottom, it won’t bounce. It takes some practice but once you get it down, it’s so helpful.

you forgot to mention: if you let your fishing bar drop down, but press at the exact time it hits the bottom, it will not bounce up. which makes the lead bobber even more useless.

I know that but its harder when you catch Fast fishes.

Best way to level up your fishing fast is to fish on the beach until you're lvl 5. The fish are quite terrible but because of that you can almost catch perfectly everytime thus doubling the xp you get.

Actually I prefer the lake by the mines. Carp is the easiest fish in the game to catch and Bullhead is surprisingly straightforwad giving a lot of exp! With the training rod Largemouth Bass won't show, so the only fish that might give you trouble is Chad xD

The only reasons to fish in the ocean in spring is once on a rainy night for eel or for easy inventory management because you can sell all your fish to Willy as your inventory fills up, a perk which is only good until 5 pm. Either get just one eel for getting the Master Angler achievement and an eel for the night fishing bundle and go back to the river for more catfish or stay to get a few more for a fishpond to have easy access to cooking spicy eel. The fish in the ocean is quite terrible for both XP money and aren't even as easy to catch as fish in other locations worth more XP and money, particularly if you use the tip with the training rod. In the mountain lake you can catch carp (that you literally don't even have to move to bar to get perfect catches on much of the time), chubs, and bullheads with the training rod which has the base XP of 8, 14, and 18. The bullhead, which gives the 18 XP, is insanely easy to get perfect catches on and if you're really lucky you get a perfectly placed treasure chest for a perfect treasure chest catch, because the bullhead darts up fast, but not faster than you can easily keep up, and then stays steady in one spot after that most of the time. They also sell for 75 gold at regular quality, increasing to 93 gold with the Fisher profession. In the river on rainy days, the training rod can hook shads which are the same deal as the bullhead, although worth slightly less money. The ocean only becomes acceptable once you switch to the fiberglass rod and get access to gold/iridium quality fish and, most importantly, flounder and halibut. But at that point, you're most likely turning down the fishing intensity slightly to start up mining and might mainly fish on rainy days for those sweet, sweet gold star catfish money, which again means you're not fishing in the ocean.

The Mountain Lake will give you more XP & actually has easier fish. Carp & Chubs don't move much & the Bullhead has an easily recognizable pattern that's quick to learn. Plus they tend to sell for more than ocean fish.

Not for everyone, but I recommend binding something like spacebar to the interact key in the settings menu! Much easier than the mouse for me

I just love the feel of the lead bobber. I should give some others a try, though.

After finding out in the wiki that in terms of fishing mechanics; Fishing from the shore and from the pier is no different. I start fishing at the shore in front of Elliott's Cabin. (And the far east shore for the legendary fish) instead. Really saved a lot of walking time.

Don't forget Challenge bait! I'm end game but never bothered with the legendary fish before, I'm going to try and get 3 Iridium of each. Wish me luck lol. Great video! Love your stuff!

I have so many playthroughs, and have caught them so many times, they aren't special anymore 😅😫

Specifics for fishing XP: Each quality level of fish increases the XP by 3 points-normal is 3pts, silver is 6, gold is 9, and iridium is 12. Fish each have a difficulty level. That number is divided by 30 and added to the previous number; fish average in the vicinity of 15-20xp. Catching a treasure chest increases total XP by 2.2; a Perfect catch increases it by 2.4. Oddly, a Perfect catch increases the quality of the fish by one stage, but that increase is not used in the XP calculation.

It will last until the buff runs out, Seafoam pudding lasts about 4 minutes (8 with qi seasoning )

lead bobber is useless because you can do a quick tap on the reel just before the fishing bar hits the bottom which, if timed right, stops the bar from bouncing even without the tackle
