I just started playing Stardew, thought it was a good idea to start on the beach farm…its been tough but i have learned so much about the game

The beach farm will give you chances to practice almost everything the farming, building, and fishing experience has to offer. It makes you think and yet, gives you enough fishing, foraged items, boxes, and above all, an AWESOME layout to build a long term dream farm on. (spoilers excluded on purpose, but I LOVED my playthru on the beach)

There are about 200 tiles you can plant and water using sprinklers. This is PLENTY for year 1 to get on your feet and to get the greenhouse and Ginger island farms going. Diversify your skills and your farming, and the Beach farm will be your best ever.
Aww No one said Goats are useless. Of course they're not. Sheep though.
I don't waste time building a bunch of charcoal kilns. Maybe a couple early on, but once I have access to levels 40-79 of the mines, I will spam those levels killing every dust sprite i can find. Then once I've killed 500, get the burlgar's ring and go back. With a burglar's ring, a monster musk and an infested level.... I can come away with 200-300 coal in a single day's run.

Blob fish is my go to for fish ponds... Because i get most of my pearls there and even if pearls dont have much use its still very satisfying seeing your blobfish pond produce one randomly, also blobfish gives 1-2 roe and it sells for a good price plus the added bonus of the pearls and the farm warp totem which is very very convenient in the first or second year

Lava eel ponds produce Spicy Eel, between that and the serpent's drop, I've got enough Spicy Eel for the Skull cavern dives, before I can afford enough crystallariums for the rubies.

"lava eals are the only profitable fish" Me with my sunfish Tod, Todd, Tim, Tym, Timmy, John, Jon, Johny, Jim, and sir Charles the third of the raging river; "what about emotional support? That's valuable!" 😂
I didn't know you could put driftwood into the wood chipper. It seems so obvious now but I just never thought of it. So thanks!
Although the lava eel is probably the best fish for the ponds it is definitely not the only worthwhile fish. Sturgeon can be gotten fairly early and gives great profit. A little later blobfish is like a slightly better sturgeon and has a chance to give pearls. And later after that stingrays which although do not produce much money will give you batteries, dragon teeth, magma caps, and cinder shards.

Hoppers useless??? No. You just have to think how best to use them. They do the most good for you when you use them on the shortest, most repetitive processes. Examples include smelting copper ore or quartz, dropping MASSIVE amounts of produce into seed makers quickly while you just stand there and get seeds (very applicable to Qi fruit quest), or my favorite... COFFEE MAKING!!!

Yeah, it's less useful compare to the automated one, but NOT useless.
So cool seeing someone talk about the goat cheese method!! That's my money maker!
I didn't realize the workbench was that strong, I've been using it to access just two chests and still finding it awesome! Nobody talks about it, but when you're crafting items that require like 4 things it's just so tedious to go get each thing out of the chest
@slwrabbits

I'm honestly lazy enough that I have a workbench hooked up to the one chest I have on my island farm. I just don't feel like getting ANYTHING out of a chest after using the workbench for so long. I don't know how anyone goes without!
@jimmysthoughts8571

@@slwrabbits Yeah, I get a workbench pretty quickly on any new playthrough, lol
Another use for the crab pots: any farm layout with freshwater ponds or a stream can be used to passively acquire periwinkle and crawfish, both needed for Fish Stew (+3 fishing buff), which is infinitely easier than fishing for flounder and midnight carp to try to make Seafoam Pudding (+4 fishing)
TIP: if you need refined quarts very quickly set up 1 or 2 recycling machines next to the small pond on your farm, fish up the trash until you get the broken glasses or broken cd, put them in the machine and continue fishing. Within a few in game hours you will have 5-10 pieces of refined quarts for you to use for anything. Also for the fish ponds, if you chuck some sturgeon fish in there and use the roe in a preserve jar, it becomes caviar. Caviar is used for the missing bundle and also sells for 1100 G, so since sturgeon are mush easier to acquire it’s a much easier way of profiting.
I sometimes stream a no-farming challenge run on the beach farm. It's pretty fantastic if you're building your life around crab pots.

I highly suggest placing the tiles first if you plan on planting a bunch of trees the same way the video shows (particularly if you're on console, I have a very hard time controlling the cursor sometimes) so that you plant them where you want them and don't have to dig up the seeds to fix when they place wrong

To get coal you can also go to level 45 in the mines and start killing dust sprites, find the ladder to the next level and kill more sprites. Repeat the previous step and you can get a lot of coal.

That's not the biggest reason to hunt dust sprites, not by a long shot. The Adventurer's Guild reward for killing a lot of those is worth the farmhouse's weight in gold.
My friends and I found a good use for hoppers. We placed them around the may with kegs and coffee beans, so now we can grab coffee on run and not worry about carrying it. It does not sound like much but it has been surprisingly convenient.

Hoopers works nicely with recycling machines too. I have separate chests for storing trash and recycled items and it's easy to just use 'Add to stack' button and dump all stuff in one go.
(first playthrough and on switch so correct me if I'm wrong) I do wish there will be sheep milk in the future. with how long it takes to unlock a loom vs the faster access to the recycling machines and not much use for fabric unless you want to change ur clothes daily like animal crossing or if there's a reward in the future for finishing a catalogue like such, sheep are pretty useless. plus without mods it's another specific-use tool to worry about. I just don't have the heart to sell my one sheep.
if you have a friend who you dont play stardew valley with much, get them to get you a celler, one is for wine, and the other is for cheese
I'm not terribly great as a player, but I like to farm the skeletons in the regular Mines for the bone swords, both because it's a decent weapon if you are trying to get to 120 by the time Summer hits, and it's a decent money source for like 200g a pop, which is quite a lot in my eyes.
Worst thing anyone can do in stardew is taking the so seriously that you never enjoy it.
Top quality content as always, def going to check out the playthrough
Cant believe there are people out there who dont use the workbench
The beach farm really is great when you're getting bored with the game, you have to try new strategies
These are all really great tips! Keep up the awesome videos ❤
My jaw dropped when you introduced what the work bench can do when it's connected to multiple chests. This is literally the first time I've heard about it.
Another banger video, love how you always present important things straight to the point in the most amusing dead-pan way and never beat around the bush. Also top tier editing 👌
The hopper and deconstructor are so late-game that I don't understand why someone would use them to get gold bars. I have absolutely zero use for gold at this point, so I don't get it.
Fun fact: A club can also be enchanted with haymaker.
I was really confused with all the different farm options when I was creating my first playthrough (which im still on right now) so I just went with the basic one but when I make a new safe file, I'll be doing a much more detailed look at the different options to see what will work best. Right now it would probably be the forest one as I do a lot of foraging.
I just started playing this game for the first time about a couple weeks ago and i learned a few things i wish i had known at the beginning. Like there are some berries that you can plant and harvest over and over and then turn them into seeds then sell the seeds. It's practically printing money because of how fast it is. Also by year two just save up all your base level strawberries and blueberries and make jelly and suddenly money isn't a problem anymore
I have only played the mobile version of the game. Played a few months ago on the 1.4 and got decently far then stopped for a bit. Picked it back up recently with the 1.5 update. So I’m no where near expert and don’t even have access to even close to all thouse items yet. But selling extra weapons and armor has been a life savor early game. I can be a few hundreds short of something and I go sell my stash ( I keep at least one chest by the mine entrance -- I tend to pass out or leave the mine too late to sell ) and boom I can get that upgrade lol. I’m looking forward to unlocking ginger island and the enchantments. Though not looking forward to doing the volcano leaves to get to the forge.

Thankfully the volcano is short, but there's no immediate shortcuts.
OHHH MYY GOODDD!! YOU are actually playing it!!!!! I would love to see it!!
Crab pots are so useful for people who hate fishing minigame.
Who trashes their weapons? I see most of them as collectibles and I wouldn't trash them as many of them are hard to come by. Especially weapons like the ones found in the Volcano can take a lot of time to find x.x
I have 1 pond with a sea cucumber, 1 with eels, 1 with stingrays, and 1 with rainbow trout. I like the cucumbers/eels for cooking and the rainbow trout for the random prismatic shard
I still think I'm the most useless thing in Stardew Valley 😂 Good video, mGaud!
I love your content. You make me laugh so much while learning. Thank you 😊
RE:Coal: Why is it people seem to forget that Dust Sprites are a thing? I always end up with hundreds of coal just by killing those guys to get that item drop ring bounty done and/or while trying to farm frozen geodes to get up to the 60 artifacts.
I would say you can use the goat cheese and fairy dust tips to get iridium quality goat cheese immediately
I put a hopper in the deconstructer and it gives you a radioactive bar. 3000 gold each.
The only thing they need to make the hopper actually good is to make it able to harvest machines or even just add an item the does that
The ancient fruit wine sells for more at its base price than the iridium goat cheese. It makes it more lucrative in the sense that it’s less labor intensive and you can produce so much more at a time. If you neglect goats even for a day quality drops

You can pry my sturgeon fish pond out of my dead hands.
The treasure hunter tackle is a TERRIBLE example for the deconstructor/hopper. You can buy them from Willy for 750, use the deconstructor for two gold bars, which sell for... 750, IF you have the blacksmith profession, otherwise it's a net loss. Absolute waste of time unless you need the gold bars themselves and don't have any ore lying around, which by the time you have the deconstructor, shouldn't be an issue to obtain a bunch of it for free in the mines. The best use of the hopper is actually to put it IN the deconstructor. If you have extra Qi gems and you need some radioactive bars, every 20 gems spent on a hopper and then tossed into the deconstructor will give you a radioactive bar, which can be more reliable than trying to farm for it. As for the woodchipper, if you use hardwood gained from deconstructed cork bobbers purchased from Willy, it amounts to paying 150g per piece of hardwood, which when subsequently put into a woodchipper, makes it cheaper than buying wood from Robin from year 2 onward. It's unclear if it's cheaper to make coal with that wood than it is to buy from Clint (also year 2+) due to the range of amount of wood you can get. It would require some testing, because you would need to get wood at a rate that is functionally cheaper than 25g each since it takes 10 for the charcoal kiln.

People always hate on the beach farm and I don't get it. Sure you can't use sprinklers but are people really that reliant on them? I personally loved my beach farm experience as it gave me a higher appreciation for deluxe water retainer, honey, fish ponds, etc. And now whenever I play stardew I always have some of those on my farm just because they're fun. It's unfun ignoring half the game because sprinklers and starfruit. I even had some fun spamming crab pots to catch crabs very close to home and be permanently boosted by crab cakes and triple shots
