The Mobile 12 is certainly excellent for a portable active speaker, but in real world - high output applications - it does not come close to what the K12 can do, unfortunately. I tested and reviewed the Mobile 12 speaker a few years ago (maybe they've improved it?), but at that time, when compared to one of my 350 watt RCF Art 312s, it did not come close to it output wise, and it limited more quickly that I would have liked. You probably noticed the low frequencies cut out on the Yorkville once the volume went up. This is to maximize the overall output of the more limited amplifier power in the battery powered Yorkville. The 12'' woofer in the Yorkville was also likely chosen because of its overall efficiency, but it does not seem to be able to produce high output deeper frequencies - probably because : 1. The amplifier was unable to get the required (much higher) amount of watts from the battery and/or 2: The woofer was chosen because of its efficiency and not maximum performance. Don't get me wrong the Mobile12 is excellent for a battery powered speaker, but take a pair out to a gig (on stands with no subs) and you will quickly see and hear their limitations, especially compared to a pair of K12s on stands. I am not a fan of K12s in general (I find them very harsh at jhigh volumes), but they are capable of substantial high output full range sound.

100% agree! Its a decent portable speaker but compared to any plugged in pro 12 inch speaker it lacks overall output. Especially in the low range when pushed. Thanks for chiming in!

In your opinion would two mobile 12s vs 1 mobile 12 and 2 8" mobile subs have more bass? Its an outdoor application under an overpass less then 50 people. Just wondering if im gonna get any bass out of just the mobile 12 by itself

I love the yorkville speaker. The only thing is the battery is non replaceable. Deal breaker for me. Nice comparison though. Thanks

If you open up the back panel, the battery could be replaced or rebuilt pretty easily by a shop or someone competent in battery building. I had one rebuilt for $60.

The battery is replaceable, and roughly 100$ when I last checked with Yorkville.

But it is unable to produce a high output full range sound at very high SPLs, like the K12 can. The low frequencies on the Mobile 12 are cut off pretty quickly once the volume goes up ;)

But it easily outperforms the Yorkville if you test it out in the real world. I reviewed the Mobile 12 a few years ago, and while it sounds good and gets fairly loud (for a battery powered speaker), it did not even come close to the output of a 350 watt RCF Art312. The limiter starts blinking fairly quickly and the low frequencies are cut out once you reach a certain level to maximize possible output.
