man, watching Dave Strickler power-shift that '64 Dodge gives me goosebumps every time!
After watching this people will know why drag racing today has lost it's perspective. If this doesn't make you want to go out and bang gears, I don't know what would! Thanks Jim for posting!!!!
Man does this bring back memories. My buddy and I went every weekend to Island Dragway and Raceway Park in NJ. We got autographs and talked with Grumpy,Dyno Don, Big Daddy and many more. I had a 66 GTO and my buddy had a 67 Road Runner and he raced a 1932 C/A injected Chevy powered Ford. He had trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground. I'm 60 and drive a Mercedes now, but I've got the pictures and 8mm from the track. My buddy still had the 32 Duce and it's streetable. Thanks again!

I know I'm replying to a comment that's 9 years old but you mention 8mm film from the 60's. I'm trying to locate some video of my uncles 1964 Comet campaigned as "The Hairy Canary" in the mid 60's. They ran B/MP at a lot of the east coast tracks. Anybody have some video?? He has a short appearance in the video "Atco 1960's Drag Racing - It's a Sport, Baby" that's on KZread.
This really brings back the memories of our teenage years.

Thank you sir do you remember a purple mustang 67 fastback ain't that a b**** by the left tail light it was owned performance machine automotive 77 and Western South it had tow bars our tow hooks up front if you know anything oo remember it it would be greatly appreciated I've been looking I was a fourth owner thank you very much
Notice there are lights at ground level all the way down the track. This is because York is actually an airport. In fact, I am a professional pilot and in 2018 I flew my corporate jet into York and had to hang out at the airport for several hours waiting for my boss to return. Since I am also a life long drag racer, I asked the locals where this famous Dragway was that I SO recalled as a kid. They said it was the York airport, and that I was standing on hallowed ground. And so I was. But sadly, other than dozens of photos of the racing there in days gone by, I really couldn’t see any signs that the airport was used as a drag strip.
Great video and a great part of history. Thanks for sharing👍
Great stuff! Now THAT'S how to shift gears!!! Did you see the effort that went into those shifts! LOL!!! Top stuff, thanks for sharing. '68 Torino 445 stroker FE. UK.
This was the most fun I have had in 40 years! This was the golden age of drag racing and I was blessed to be a part of that time.
LOL! no mercy for that gearbox!! brilliant, wish it were still the 60's...
Thanks for the scenes and the sound. A true gem. Thanks again. I cannot recall a youtube video that I enjoyed as much, Scott
This has to be the coolest video I have seen on KZread yet! I can't get over how high they rev the engines in those things! Awesome post!
This one of the best drag vids ever seen on youtube. Dude, I am impressed!!! The sound is exciting as all get out!!!!! I'm gonna use it to psychologically rev myself up for an interview. Cheers to you, mate!
Thanks for eigth minutes of the best music, ENGINES SOUND !!!!!!!

Its a shame that they don't race there anymore. Was one of the best drag strips on the east coast next to Englishtown, N.J.
They were the RAMCHARGERS!! Great footage!
I'm a little later than these cars , grew up by Rockingham Motor Speedway in the late 60s through the 70s and 80s , love the sounds of these cars . I still drag race today a 1979 firebird with a 1972 pontiac 455 H.O. all old school , high compression big cam and a fat holly carb.
Look at those sweet Super Stock Dodges!!! Nice vid! Added to my favorites!
Great Video, Those were the days no electronic you had to cut the light and drive it to win.
i lived right across rt 30 from the rt30 strip/airport in thomasville the good ole days.

@@amos6013 I'll check it out your video. My dad sold the Olds when I and my siblings came along and bought a family Merc sedan. This was the mid-1950s and Bruce was young then late teens, my Dad could never beat him, always said Bruce's car had a higher gear ration, better in the 1/4 mile. I spent a lot of time at York and Boiling Springs as a kid, my neighbor Buck Myers ran a C/MP '57 Chevy "Snoopy" and later a '57 Vette gasser, the short lived "Glass Casket". I remember a powder blue '55 Chevy, "the Blue Light Bandit" ran by a bunch black guys from Harrisburg. I grew up near Linglestown, Pa, home of "the Linglestown Leadfoot" Maynard Yingst, sprint car driver and Larson's crew chief. Chris Lang used to run his "Malco Super Vette" gasser out of Linglestown also. Good days, where are my earplugs.
I live outside of York the old guys tell me 10,000 people would show up at the national traffic was jammed up on route 30 for miles
exelente video puro poder de maquina y sin tanta tecnologia los felicito

Just wondering man I had a car it was a 67 fastback big block for speed mustang at least on the van v i n but I was told and I got it in 85 I never did see any of this in person but on the back it said ain't that a b**** by the left tail light and on the side tighter and tighter and I heard I'm almost sure it was on the front page of a local publication drags drag strip stuff and it was coming off the line doing a wheelie any recollection of anything like that I know a lot more history to but it is late thank you if you can give me anything it would be greatly appreciated I will try to send you a pic don't have too many more left I'll bet but I have had to of the bullet chases x 2 to 67th 268 and 267 s take that Steve McQueen and the five hubcaps I'm laughing anyway have a nice evening good night sleep

Did they use mostly solid lifters back then. And the cams sound much more choppy than today. What lift/duration was used for a 430 h/p motor??
These kids today can't push a clutch pedal, not to mention mill out a steel bearing plate for a muncie. Here's to all the guys still runnin a Competition Plus, Hurst Supers, Vertigates, and P&G's
