while the rest of the prostock field ran aluminum rods, gary kimball's pro stock camaro 327 had stock rods. even bill jenkins found that unbelievable.

Jim's early 70's DVDs from edited 8mm film are the absolute best! This DVD is one of my favorites, and I have over 40 of his excellent entertaining DVDs. Plus Jim is a really great guy!

My brother and I went to pick up his new 1969 Chevrolet SS396 in late 68 at Degnan Chevrolet in Philly on Frankford Ave., as I walked into the showroom on the left t was a dark blue 69 Camaro with a sign in front "Blue Max". Little did I know it was the only ZL-1 my eyes fell upon and yrs. Later found out it was the Schmidt's labeled car.

My friends and I used to go out to the Hamptons dragway all the time in the 80's and 90's,sometimes to race and other times to watch and check out the competition. Did a lot of street racing as well on 109 in Bethpage, and Newbridge Road. Concrete was great for traction! Signed.. The Dodge Boys

Mopar dominated back then until NHRA kept adding weight on them to slow them down. In other words, to make it more competitive for GM and Ford.

We used to flat tow our cars from Commack and E. Northport on the L.I.E. out the Hamptons dragstrip almost every weekend. We could have driven them out there but always broke something and would have needed a tow back anyway

Funny even though the cars are from the 20th century the raceway set up in the 21 century, The crowd in the stands are pushed way back from the racing lanes and everyone is fenced in all around with concrete barriers on the race lanes. Being closer was more fun.

I was standing on the top level of those old wood bleachers that day. When Garlits made that run,the bleachers shook so bad,I thought I might fall off. I was 16 years old and I haven't been the same since. Thanks Don! 😁

Tommy and I are from the same town of Section, Alabama. I met and did business with him a handful of times throughout the years. He owned and operated "Crossroads 4×4". He was one of the coolest and most respectful person that i have ever met. He always treated me as if he knew me his entire life with long conversation about cars, my Novas and drag racing in general. He was a pleasure to meet and to know. Rest in peace Mr Jones. ✨

LOL, I can remember my oldest brother trailering his car to church on Sunday mornings, and getting the Priest to Bless the car. He won pretty regularly so maybe there was something to it. He always gave 10% of his winnings.
