Totally respect wanting to listen to the album on your own. All of their music is a trip and as long as you go in expecting nothing but great music you’ll enjoy it! I’d say they are metal with strong r&b/pop influence. Genres are hard with them so don’t worry about it too much lol They’ve been around for about 7 years, have three albums, two eps, and some singles. They are a masked, anonymous collective (their identities can be found but most fans respect the anonymity), with Vessel doing vocals and all instruments except for drums, II plays drums, and III and IV join live on bass and guitar. The lore of the band is that Vessel was visited by an ancient deity called Sleep and the music is a “token” or offering to Sleep. Older songs I’d recommend are The Offering, Dark Signs, Hypnosis, and Alkaline.

The Love You Want is one of the most slept on tracks they have and really hints at the cyclical nature of the albums. Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't heard it

If you believe me that they NEVER disappoint, go all the way back to their album Sundowning and listen to everything between that album, the one that followed it, and then all of Take Me Back to Eden. I consider it the best trilogy of albums in music history, no cap.

Their only classified as metal because they have heavy parts in their songs and no other genre, except metal, does that. Metal on the other hand will often, especially lately, use other genres in their music. Its just easiest to say their metal but in reality i feel like they dont really fit into any genre specifically. They do what they want and we love it lol.

Its interesting to me how different types of people listen to Sleep Token. A lot of metal reactors who would typically be into Sleep Token never really talk about the lyrics. Thankfully Sleep Token do a lot of different things so people with different tastes in music are getting into it, and I love how people such as yourself are wording out the lyrics and appreciating them because these dudes know how to write. It's good shit. Good reaction vid yo

Sleep Token is a bridge band that can draw in ANYONE from any gerne. Pop, hip hop, metal anyone.

Honestly since ive found them, ive played those albums so many times! Sundowning has more electronic feel, TPWBYT is more "water" themed, and TMBTE is the elevated version of both! All the songs reference and intertwine into one cohesive story and feeling, ive never been so captivated by a band like sleep token! So glad your going down the rabbit hole, this band has honestly made my life better, they put so much theme of conflict and "your feelings, sticking up for yourself" hope they have a similar feel for you!

The ending of the album references the beginning of the trilogy bringing everything full circle. There are other easter eggs too within this album referring to other songs. I suggest just doing an entire deep dive it makes everything more significant.

The best musical experience I have had in my entire life was sitting down with headphones and listening to all three of their full length albums in a row. The trilogy tells a story and, with this album, ends beautifully.

You have to listen to the summoning, probably the best song they got. Alkaline is also an absolute pleasure to the ears.

A Masterpiece Album, all song are really GOOD 😎!

Sleep token is my favorite current band rn, just for a little background they are a progressive metal band (in a VERY loose sense of the term) from the UK that are constantly pushing the boundaries of what a genre is. They’ve been around for a couple years now but really started to blow up when they released their current most popular song “The summoning” in early January as the second of a bunch of singles leading up to the full album which is absolutely phenomenal. The entire album just released 10 days ago as of writing this and they have been absolutely popping off cause of it. They are also an anonymous band with each member going by vessel followed by a number between I-Iv (1-4 in Roman numerals) with the lead singer being vessel I but mostly just called vessel. Also the fan base does this thing where when they are talking bout the band and are saying positive things they end the part of with “worship” so don’t be alarmed if you see that in your comments. Would love to see you react to more of their music as the sleep token fan base seeks out this kind of content regularly and love it, and ur reactions are really good as seeing people who never even heard of them get shocked is always really fun to watch. Reiterating what everyone else is saying cause ST fans LOVE seeing other people this hype about them too. I just wanted to mention that I appreciate that you catch so many of the lyrics on the first listen and appreciate them so much. They're such a wild fusion of genres and as someone who listens to metal and R&B I was just as shook by the lyrics (well everything really).

These reactions are making me so happy, not only to see someone enjoying a band I love, but the energy is great, a lot of fun to watch. Listening to the album yourself is a good idea to fully enjoy it, but it'd also be fun to see you react to each song lol. Others have been great with their recommendations, although two iffy ones are Vore and Gods (from their first album). They're both much closer to screamo/thrash metal (although they both still change up the sound like you've already heard), but they're both still really good. Oh, and they did a very moody, ambient cover of Hey Ya! a while ago that's worth checking out. Hope you enjoy the rest of their music 👍

I really love this band and have written legit essays trying to understand single lines of their songs. I know its a little overkill but their lyrics can be incredibly deep if you read them in their entirety. I used to make fun of people who do what I am doing now, trying to understand an artists message for them but when they leave so much unsaid its the only way for me haha

I’ve been a fan of these guys since 2018, when they first kinda popped up on the uk metal scene. their early work was incredible, all long songs with gradually building layers exploding in huge breakdowns - it was kinda like ambient metal. when their first album came out they switched to this r&b-metal sound and it did bits for em, they released a fantastic second album in 2021, and early this year they finally exploded with the third one, giving them the popularity they’ve always deserved. they’re actually a two piece band in the studio, the singer plays all the instruments and the drummer goes absolutely fucking nuts. it’s pretty crazy seeing a relatively small, anonymous band I’ve been following for a while become the biggest metal band of the current age, but I’m here for it !! you are gonna love take me back to eden, but I recommend digging into their early material as well ! the absolute mad lads even have a hey ya cover
