    Great review! I’m playing with the Ezone 98 but I miss a little bit of extra weight. Would you suggest the Ezone 98 Tour or the VCore Pro 97 HD? I’m 38 years old, good physique and all-court style player.

    Was looking forward to this review, too, and kinda disappointed with the racquet by hearing your comments. I was/am still undecided between this, the VCore Pro 310, and the 330. Looking primarily at some free power, spin, control, manoeuvrability.. what would you suggest??

    I would like at the Head Gravity Pro or Speed Pro. Both are more powerful than the VCore Pro's (VCP) due to more elliptical beam shapes. I know they are 18x20's but they are both super spin friendly. The Speed's pattern is very open, similar density to the VCP's and much more open than the VCP HD. The Gravity has a very wide headshape, so the spin window is quite large. Both have higher swing weights for power and stability, but have lower static weights for great maneuverability. If you are comfortable with customization, the VCP 310g or EZone 98 would be good choices.

    @Jumpin Joe this guy's game is weak, and doesn't fit this racket's performance target audience. His swing speed might benefit from a power racket, not a player one tbh. Therefore his opinion might ring true to his own specific skillset. To put it plainly, this racket might just be out of his league for now.

    Hi for a player that likes control, top spin, and heavy ground stroke game (like Thiem or Nadal) would you recommend ezone 98 tour or the prestige MP?

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    @CourtsideSportsLTD

    The Ezone Tour. The Prestige MP is quite flexy so I find it tough to hit heavy balls while on the run. That said, before Thiem used his Pure Strike, I believe he used the old Prestige MP, though that one was a bit stiffer than his current racquet.

    My usual is the Yonex VCORE 95 customized to 350g, 335SW, 31.7cm balance point. Although the EZone is lighter, it felt a bit slower through the air. Usually I have a better understanding of why, but it's really hard for me to pinpoint the really reason. I think it's that there's a concentration of mass in the throat, but I couldn't guarantee it.

    Question - I have the ezone 98 drive. I like it, but want more weight in the head to plough through the ball. With a heavy ball, I feel like this racquet gets a bit bullied. It has to do with string tension, in part, of course, but wondered about the Tour in terms of what I have said. You said that the weight was more in the throat. How does that translate to plough through. Your comments on the volley sounded interesting.

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    @CourtsideSportsLTD

    3 жыл бұрын

    I agree, the standard Ezone 98 can get bullied. This is purely due to its low swingweight (plowthrough), and strings won't help much. The weight in the throat makes it easy to redirect or block back pace. If you have a simple, clean stroke, it will definitely help. My backhand is pretty simple and quite flat, so the racquet was great there. My forehand is more complicated and requires a lot more racquet head speed, so I was finding the weight in the throat to slow down the swing. I would prefer weight in the tip, which is why I prefer a customized Ezone 98 to an Ezone Tour.

    @@stevenurquhart9164 While you are shoppping around, keep an eye out for racquets with high swingweights. Swingweight is the measurement that describes plowthrough. Typically, manufacturers don't make racquets above 325, but there are a few such as the Head Speed Pro, the Gravity Pro, the RF97, the Blade 18x20 and the Pure Strike 18x20. Next week I will be review the protoype 360+ Radical Pro with a modern 326 swingweight, but it swings fast and offers great stability so stay tuned for that!

    It depends on the day. I had my issues with both. I prefer the stock EZONE 98 to the Speed Pro, but didn't like the weight distribution on the Tour. The Speed Pro was a bit too flexy for me in the upper hoop, as I like a bit stiffer response.

    It fairly muted, but I still find the string bed to be pretty responsive. The new 360+ racquets from head are more lively feeling than this, but they still feel quite solid. I think the new Extreme Tour is very underrated, and worth looking into if you are interested in the EZone, but want something that offers more feedback.

    @@kutayyurtsever3619 Swingweight is tough to measure because it depends on the polarization of the weight which is hard for manufacturers to get consistent. I have 3 Vcore 95's and the are all 335SW +/- 2, 306 unstrung. Machine calibration can be off and even using and RDC isn't always that accurate. Sometimes flipping a racquet 180 degrees changes the outcome by a few points. It could also be the scale I used to weigh the lead.

    I found the weight distribution to feel similar on these racquets. They worked awesome on my backhand, both topspin and backhand, but lacked the whip I like on my forehand. I'm surprised out are struggling to control the HD, usually the low launch angle from the dense pattern keeps the ball in, but in your case it's probably more an issue with spin generation. You can definitely get more spin from the EZone Tour, which would be good for you.

    @magnesiu t I had never used a racquet that is 4 points head heavy, so it did take time. Put in Tour Bite or hyper G 50-53lbs. You have to have more of a linear swing path on your forehand to benefit. You can't whip it around like a 7+ points HL racquet. There are benefits to a more head heavy racquet including firmer volleys, more solid slice, and easier snap on serves. Downsides are it is harder to swing the modern forehand, less maneuverable generally. I used a much heavier racquet than this previously, so more me the maneuverability is about the same.
