With zombies, it’s always a win-win situation. If they kill everyone else, they won the game, but if they lose, the fallen player joins the horde, making it stronger. This is the type of positive thinking that keeps us going!

At 13:00, Mirage Grave Pact would not trigger, as Yidris didn't die, he went to the command zone, so Amadeus would keep his Grimgrin.

Daniel Wilson this is not right. Moving the commander to the command zone prevents that creature from moving to the graveyard. The wording on grave pact means that it will not trigger

For a little there it felt like it was Varina vs Yidris . They were slugging it out while keeping the other two in check.

I am totally using glare to take out an opponent's Sol Ring in the future! Seriously though, this game was lots of fun. I'm always impressed with the quality of MTG Muddstah's videos, especially given how consistently they are released.

I think this was the first time Matt had played Scion since swapping back from the Ur-Dragon. He was just brushing the dust off. The deck has since become a real monster, haha!

Seriously... my first scion target is always The Ur Dragon. Card draw plus permanent is busted. I could 1 shot people with the scion combos but I don't because I don't want the board to kill me immediately afterwards. I usually save any 1 shot combos for desperation plays or i'm the last of two players.

As a player if Shadowborn Apostle (SA), I’m excited to brew with it, but unfortunately due to the stats of the new card I’m afraid it will never be as busted as SA. Not unless there is some other super good reason to play advisors not yet spoiled.

Scion is my first and favourite Commander Deck...it’s a real great deck to pilot, but needs to be managed carefully as too big of a start can be bad, as the game becomes Arch-Enemy

Yeah, same. He's a super fun commander, but if you get too excited about your ability to oneshot out of nowhere in damage step, it can scare the table really badly.

first? nope 2 Tribal decks and each person having an increasing number of colors from 2-5. Seeing Amadeus play Varina reminded me of my Gisa and Geralf deck that recurs Scourge of Nel Toth, Boneyard Scourge, Prized Amalgam and Bladewing's Thrall, also including Geralf's Stitchwings and his Masterpiece. :3

16:08 Amad. Is resolving Varina, Lich Queen’s triggered ability, even if he found an answer when drawing cards he wouldn’t have an opportunity to cast the answer due to him needing to fully resolve his commanders ability. His hand prior to the trigger appeared to be completely empty.

If he did have a card, then he correctly played to his best out.

I'm not sure if Mike got greedy at that last turn with Eldrazi Monument + Parallel Lives, or simply didn't have any creatures or token-making cards in his hand... he only needed to make six creatures to win the game right then and there.

Great video as always! Hopefully one day I can join in on one!(Sadly the shop in this video is about an hour and a half away from me)

Getting there! I can still feel some lingering congestion in my nose.

A copied bring to light can only fetch cards with cmc 0 or less because no colors were spent to cast the copy. Trust me Ive tried to do this in my Riku deck but it doesn't work.

2,3,4 and 5 colored decks. That is a nice mix in a edh game 😃

Amazing how Mike was able to do absolutely nothing all game, then get a basicly free win on the board with panharmonicon + purphoros and proceeds to absolutely fuck all and lose the game Respect my dude

Scion of the ur dragon for the win I love it when a plan comes together

Dragon Tempest is a sweet card. Pairing it with the original Nicol Bolas is nuts too. ETB target player discards their hand.

I have a Varina deck but it is less zombie tribal and more focused on the draw-discard-lifegain mechanics. I was still rooting for Amad hard though, was a clutch gravepact that kept the big boys from getting out of hand! Oh if if there is one thing I have learned playing against dragons its you have to deal with them early bc you wont get a chance later. GGWP!

I'd love to but I would need to find a group of people who would be comfortable having their voices recorded + a location that isn't a shop to film in. My current games often have a staggering amount of background noise.

Going for Yidris this time

So, a few misplays, but I think one that’s ingenious is when Trevor attempts to copy Dragon Tempest. Unless Mirage Mirror is worded differently, it is not still an artifact upon resolution of its ability if it copies a non-artifact permanent. Trevor’s deck is still sweet, and that line of play would’ve been amazing

14:12 Trevor shouldn’t make a copy of his Mirage Mirror from the Saheeli’s Artistry because his target was no longer an artifact after copying Dragon Tempest.

At 13:17 when Mike reverberated the bring to light it should have been x=0, since no colored mana was spent to cast it (source: magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/battle-zendikar-mechanics-2015-08-31 )

Dragon deck lasted till turn 10+. GG boys GG

Amadeus discarded a Path to Exile early, which would have been clutch against Ulamog. Also, I do not love saccing the Eldrazi Monument to Annihilate, as it left him open to fliers and Terminates.

How is that 100% of your games have at least 1 sol ring first turn?

Why did he turn the mirror into gravepact? It wouldn't have died to the gravepact trigger. The grave pact trigger would have gone on the stack above it and resolved before the mirror finished becoming grimgrin

Any update on Amadeus' varina list ?

Varina is one of my favorite commanders

At 14:25 trevor responded to his own spell by making mirage mirror a dragon tempest, this should have fizzled the copy since dragon tempest isn't an artifact, making it an illegal target

That wouldn't fizzle it, just make it unable to copy Mirror aka Dragon Tempest on resolution. Artistry still had Ventmaw as legal target and would've copy it normally.

Why exactly did Trevor throw away his ulamog by attacking amadeus? He could've attacked mike and matt and saved amadeus for last

Ulamog shuffles your graveyard into your deck along with itself when it hits the graveyard, so Trevor's Azcanta shouldn't have flipped the next turn

Really felt like Thromok was getting crapped on for a minute, and I like the static damage playstyle, but he got way too greedy at the end trying to Panharmonicon with a Parallel Lives while everyone blatantly knew there was a Purphoros on the field. If he just used Purphoros and the Scion-token generator he would've been fine. He had enough mana the entire game to play explosively and he should run a few creature tutors. He probably could've won if he had hit an Avenger of Zendikar and then just moved to combat to clean who ever was left.

If you copy Bring to Light you didn't spent mana for that, so you only can search for cards that cost 0.

Put ur dragon into your graveyard then get it back with animate dead turn 4-5 is how I’ve seen it used
