First it was "jump shooting teams can't win." Now there are questions about the Kings fast-paced attack and relative inexperience. This detailed film breakdown & scouting report breaks down the classic Game 1 of the Kings-Warriors Western Conference playoffs, exploring how pace, movement, screening, shooting and dribble hand-off attacks are so difficult to stop, even in the playoffs.

It’s crazy how the Warriors are looking at themselves in the mirror with the Kings. It’s like the Kings’ head coach was on the Warriors’ coaching staff for years or something.

@marcusplenty1153

@@Alwaysindys In theory, but sometimes you lose a bigger advantage in space, trying to fight over and under screens, than you would lose from a potential size mismatch on a switch. Which is why certain teams like switching a lot. I also think to guard someone as dynamic offball and as dangerous a shooter as steph switching is more required because a little bit of space can be an automatic 3. That switching however creates tons of confusion. Nowadays though offenses, are setup to look more like the bball equivalent of the football read option. Youre trying to create 2 on 1 scenarios with individiual defenders where regardless of the decision they make theyre kind of screwed if the offense can execute

No... NBA fans are just the most fair-weather reactionaries. It's never a formality, but 1 game also doesn't tell us what's going to happen over 7 games. The Suns / Clippers and maybe Knicks / Cavs are both going to be tightly contested series. The Lakers are better than the Grizz (even with Morant), and other than that, the teams that are expected to win will almost certainly all win their first round series.

@Morty's Trap House I agree with you but this comment actually shows why curry doesnt get those calls, the call is gonna be way more obvious if you have freak athleticism to accentuate contact, or you hang in the air so long that the refs have time to blow the whistle, it's dumb and hopefully the officiating changes, but the general consensus with refs seems to be if the shot is over dont blow your whiste, curry isn't insanely fast or athletic and because he releases so quickly refs almost don't have time to blow their whistles, and if hes gonna make it anyway, why call the and one

True im a Lakers fan too but i think we have the personal to deal with both teams, we have elite defenders at the rim (AD, Bamba or even Lebron and Rui), and also elite perimeter defenders (Vanderbilt, Shroder or even AD, Lebron, Reaves and Troy Brown), they almost all have a high IQ and the athleticism to be able to contain them, and they are big the smallest on the starting 5 is D-Lo at 6-4, and Lebron played 4 Finals against that team, he probably know their plays better than their own players at this point lol, and D-Lo also played for the Warriors. And on the offensive side they don’t have 1 guy who can guard AD or even Lebron, the Lakers live in the paint, they are big and athletic while the Warriors and Kings are small ball team they don’t have a dominant rim protector, Draymond is good but he is only 6’7 and Sabonis is a weak rim protector so i think we match pretty well with them.

We are seeing the apex of the NBA offense. Kings truly went from worst defense ever to a respected defense and the greatest offense in league history ever.
Mike Brown took them from laughing stock to legit contenders in one season. Now he's schooling a mentor in his first playoff series with the Kings. Most impressive
Dear god this might be the most exciting first round series ive seen in a while. While they get so much hate I love the warriors basketball style and its surreal to see another team that can do it. The kings might have a chance if they can keep up their three point shooting splits. The warriors will pull it if pool shoots less and drives more.
Props to Mike Brown. Back when he was with the Cavs, it was infuriating how basic the offense was, and he was unable to make adjustments as games and series went on. Not only are the Kings fast and furious on defense as any Mike Brown team is, now he's added concepts he picked up with his time with the Warriors and tailored that perfectly to their personnel. Light the beam, baby.
Glad you highlighted Fox’s improved shooting to go along with his blazing speed. He’s much much harder to defend when you have to at least respect his jumper & that is one of the keys that opens up the whole offensive scheme.
This is one of the best playoff series ive seen in a while
Both of the Kings and Warriors played phenomenal Basketball in this game. Fatigue will just be the only factor of how either of them will lose this round.
So exiting for the Kings to have an awesome match up and to show up like this. Amazing for the fans,, love how much they're getting into it! Cant wait for more breakdowns on this series and in the playoffs in general. Keep it up!

it must be frustrating for warriors to face up against their former assistant coach who knows almost everything. This is going to be a great 1st round for both teams but i think experience will play a huge role down the road. All the best for both teams

I love when I see a video from you, a real basketball fan.
What is scary about the Kings is Fox aside from his skillset and athleticism is his mentality and demeanor. In wins and loses, he almost always leveled. I remembered an interview with Kobe how he described Steph as a silent killer, that Curry is always in the moment never too high never too low, always thinking about the next move, the next play.
Attempted to like this video two separate times. What a game and breakdown!

not rly tho. regular season success still pretty accurately predicts playoff success. not 100% obviously but there is almost never ( i think only once ever ) a champion which wasnt at least a 3rd seed in their conference. like ofc being the 1st seed doesnt make you champion and basketball also is very matchup dependend but if you are a good playoff team you almost always also were pretty good in the regular season.

Might be the first time i ever saw golden state break in the playoffs. And it was the freaking KINGS who did it. If you said that to me two or three years ago Id have laughed in your face. That said, they broke for the game but not the series. Golden State is too comitted and experienced to stay broken for long and could easily win this series. Its just wild the Kings beat them at their own game. Its also wild the Kings have had the fastest player in the league for this long and it this is the first coach to say, "fastest player? We should play fast then." Real eye opener and shots fired for the rest of the league tonight. Just love great basketball baby.

This isn’t a coincidence. Mike Brown used to be a coach under Steve Kerr, when he was with the Warriors. Excellent analysis - I complain about the NBA a lot - particularly the lazy defense (good lord what is going on at 3:53, our Lord Zeljko Obradovic would never accept such nonsense no matter how tired your are), and the shoddy refereeing which nerfs defense anyway - but these videos are always informative and insightful. Living in the UK means NBA is a pain to watch time-zone wise, and I don't have time during the working day to catch up anyway, so these videos are always great as a way of keeping an eye on what's going on tactically and philosophically beyond generic highlights.

Have you seen the hawk-Heat play-in game? Hawks plays a quite-unconventional offense: Cut down passing to avoid heat's quick hands, stay big the entire game to crash boards, always looking for fast-break opportunity, those Streadgy deserve a video.
Kings just went up 2-0 BABY! Kings defense made massive adjustments and Sabonis had a major bounce back game! Also Dray dirty as hell but we known that
Sometimes watching these are even better than watching the actual game 😂

Amazing breakdown!...Sacramento Kings is the dark horse this season. People sleeping on them. It's also great to see Malik Monk thriving, its great to have good teamates, rather being in a team which revolves around 1 player, the toxic momentum killer, overated, overhyped self proclaimed......(nevermind.)😂😁 Kings FTW!😆👍
I said it with you, Ben.
Brown has improved immensely as an offensive coach after his time with the Warriors. I used to think he was one of the least talented coaches in the league (when he was with the Cavs), but he has proved me completely wrong.
I don’t mind them sagging off Domas. His shot may have been off game 1 but he does have one.
I have never seen a player like Kevon Looney where he is seen as a liability during the majority of the year, and then is praised in the playoffs almost every year for his significant contributions.
Not a fan of the game overall these days but i can get behind these 2 teams brand of bball and the beautiful ball and player movement.
Kings offence is really beautiful I can’t even
I am now wondering what the next video will be about, and I think Jimmy Butler now deserves to have a profile episode done on him after his performance thus far in these playoffs
