I hope that when the PSVR 2 finally supports PC - game developers will add fovated rendering through eye tracking for games, but I doubt it will happen.. In any case, it still sounds like the best value for money - a device with OLED panels, great resolution, vibration in the headset and eye tracking, and it's inside out so no hussle with base stations, and of course it's NATIVE PCVR, no more annoying compression like you have with quest when connected to PC. so overall sounds very good to me. if it does support SteamVR of course.. which I bet it will.. Can't wait so see how this goes.. :)

Sidenote Tyriel. Noticed you had a dark streek under your thumb nail. Have you had a doctor look at that? Not to worry you, it might be nothing, but apparently that could be typical early sign of skin cancer... 😬... unless you just jammed your thumb in a drawer or something, in that case you're fine. 😅
One of the most positive thing about it i thinks is the fact that we finally have a vr headset that can natively support 2 platform. You can buy it for your pc, but alter you can get a ps5 to play those games too. Multi platform peripherals are a great things for the industry.

With allowing PC connectivity, having a price cut, and starting to put PSVR games on ps plus, this could be the push Sony needs for this headset to finally take off. It's more than just affordable on its own, it also features eye-tracking, which can mean DRAMATICALLY LOWER PC COSTS for games that support this feature. This is a big deal that NOBODY is talking about. In fact, a GTX 1080 should be able to do VR very competently together with eye-tracking. Yeah. Low-end PCs can potentially do VR _well_ with eye-tracking! And it's OLED, and it is arguably among the most comfortable, and has unmatched haptics. However, its lenses are lesser than Quest's and has mura artefacts, and no way (yet) to buy additional controllers. So it's great, but not necessarily best for all. YMMV based upon your tastes. But if you're sensitive to costs (which is 99% of people), PSVR2 offers a significant value.
If the PSVR2 launched with this, I probably would've picked it up instead of a Q3 and lived with its weaknesses.

@Lego_Fish The screen is definitely better on PSVR2. Higher resolution, absolute blacks, less glare (they both use Fresnel lenses). There is a little bit of mura, and the vertical FOV is a little smaller, on the PSVR2. the biggest drawback for PSVR2 between the two IMO is the smaller sweet spot, but the Globular Cluster mod has made that problem a non-issue for me.

Asgard's Wrath actually already had proper shadows on the characters before the update, unlike most standalone VR games. So it's more the texture and shader stuff that's improved on Quest 3 now.
Virtual Link (like on 2070Gtx, does it work NOW? Or we still have to wait?). I’m worried eye-tracking won’t work with the sweet spot that they render in higher resolution where your eye is looking. I have a feeling all the haptics and stuff have to be programmed which I don’t believe will work with PCVR as well….
Looking to get ps vr2 bust mostly for Gt7 as I have a wheel and love it!
My PCVR is a Pimax 8KX, which I've had for a while and find it to be quite good (after I got a PC upgrade and a RTC4080). I already have the PSVR2 and I will try it on the PC. When it was released for PS5, I was thinking that if this was on a PC, everyone would be raving about the features. I've had 3 other PCVR Headsets (Vive, Vive Pro and a useless Reverb G2 (it is just too small and uncomfortable for a large head). I have tried a Vive Pro 2 and returned it, max IPD was too small). I think the PSVR2 would be great value as a PCVR headset.
I can’t wait to hook it up to my PC!!
it would be awesome to see some psvr games like re8vr coming to steam when the psvr2 has native support
oh man gonna buy it this year for ps5

On paper the psvr2 is a great deal. However, after my reverb g2 and Crystal which were great headsets, I'm over wires. If you have a 40 series Nvidia gpu, and wifi 6e, wired headsets with outdated lense tech don't feel enticing when presented with a visually stunning wireless pcvr experience from a quest 3 with virtual desktop. It's certainly an "option", but if you're into games that get you active like beat Saber, or social vr, having no wire in your pc setup is amazing, and having great quality full color pass through when tinkering with your other vr peripherals instead of lift the headset every time is a commodity I won't go back from
Great news for me because my reverb g2 cable died and no way am I getting a new one with WMR support ending. I would go Q3 but I’m afraid image clarity will be sacrificed due to the wireless connection

Quest 3 is a game changer for visual fidelity of wireless pcvr. Get Wifi 6e in the same room you are playing in, pc hard wired into router. Any 40 series gpu from Nvidia, and the virtual desktop app configured to use AV1 encoding. You'll have an amazing experience. This is my set up, and I can fully recommend Q3 for wireless pcvr.
@chadef555
27 күн бұрын
@@spencerjames7371 And this statement is bullshit because anyone who had all quest devices and PCVR headsets will know that AV1 even at 200mbit/s is still looking worse overall than h.264 at bit rates above 350. Not to mention the latency on AV1 will be higher. The only time AV1 is better is in places with objects that are in shadows or with lots of contrast. and even then 200mbit cap makes it less sharp than high bit rate H.264. Getting Quest 3 for PCVR after having G2 would be a downgrade. The only good thing would be pancake lenses and controllers tracking. That's all. PSVR2 will be absolutely the better choice for someone who cares about visuals.
@spencerjames7371
27 күн бұрын
@@chadef555 @chadef555 I'm not sure why you're getting so passionate on this as to swear lol, I own Q3, G2, as well as the Crystal and Focus 3, and from my personal experience, unless you're trying to get some unreasonable resolution at an unperceivable refresh rate, there is no need for a wired headset, especially if youre mainly on social vr. And if you've tried aspheric lenses or Pancake lenses, you'll know that anything without them is a downgrade. The Focus 3 at 1300 dollars has a massive 2448x2448 resolution, however it's fresnel lenses utterly destroy the image quality, worse than the G2. I think we agree that fresnel lenses are outdated, and are used only to save a buck at manufacturing. as for AV1. Not everyone can push those bit rates where h264 starts to get good, The buff of AV1 is efficiency, not fidelity. If you're using a lower spec hardware this is key. Other pluses to the Q3 over something like the psvr2 should speak for themselves, like being a standalone device for the same price with amazing software, games, and utility. I've tried many more headsets than I own and can confidently cast recommendations based on someone's current or future hardware configurations. As well as to what there use case might be.
@spencerjames7371
27 күн бұрын
@Judgementkiryu So I did some testing just now on the concerns raised by @chadef555. They said AV1 at 200mbs was worse than H264+ at 350 (H264+ got up to 389mbs), and had higher latency. Using my Quest 3 and virtual desktop's stat viewer I did some testing in VRChat in the "Beyond A Bit" world, and my findings are as follows. There is a difference of 1 to 2 milliseconds in latency which was only sometimes present on an already unperceivable 36ms total latency for both AV1 and H264+. As for visual fidelity concerns. In a high contrast environment (so anything with dynamic lighting) H264+ at it's MAX bit rate I got it to of 389mbs is more than noticeably worse than AV1 even when it is nearly 2x the max bit rate of AV1 at 200mb. There is a dirty visor sort of overlay of pixels to your vision caused by the video compression. It is painful to the eyes within seconds. AV1 only starts to have those sorts of artifacts when limited to 50mbs so a quarter of its capabilities. The colors also more true with AV1 in darker environments. Now when you give AV1 all the gas at 200mbs, there is literally no competition in quality. It is so much better to speak plainly lol If you'd like some recommendations on upgrading your current configuration I'd be happy to give them based on what you like to do with VR like sim vs social. Ima be honest man, after having used the G2 for so long myself, I can most certainly say A Q3 is an amazing upgrade visually with so many other features and uses beyond just PCVR that no other headset at the price point can compare really. I mean there is Pico but... lol anyway have a good one man

WHY do I need to own a PC when PS5 is so powerful? I wish SONY would make a custom OS (very open one... snicker... right) that would go head to head with Windows and MacOS. You buy a PS5, cheap as hell from PC perspective. You can load steam on it, PSVR on either side. In the PS interface or in their desktop. Sony phones and TVs could all mesh with it, make a more cohesive ecosystem. Hell, they make nice monitors also, matchy match the sony products like alientware does... they have that already. I hope this PSVR on PC thing is a precursor to this. ( I know I know )
Not quite native is it? It's native the same way a quest is
I know this sounds cliche or dumb but as "WAR" said ♪Why can't we be friends, Why can't we be friends♪. But seriously this comment section needs to chill out, because video games should be making us feel better and I got to say this conflict between PC players and console is not cool.
Just read it will not have eye tracking, haptic etc on pc
I predict the ps6 will be their last console. Even that may get cancelled if streaming makes an inevitable advancement in the next year or so.
good but im too stingy i dont wanna pay more than $200 for this. much rather get a quest2 as well. for that price im'ma need wireless and passthrough. even then its a tough sell and would want a much greater resolution. the controllers aren't even good anymore if you're comparing it to the quest3. man i used to hate on meta and probably for good reasons but at least they are making good products im blowing my own mind with this comment. what a sad world we live in. i swear it feels like real life is desynced by liked 5-10 years as far as pricing and hardware goes.
Making Astrobot II into a flat game is such a punch in the mouth for PSVR2 owners.

Astro bot rescue mission on psvr 1 is incredible!
NAAAH wired sucks, wireless is way way better, no cable hanging from celling or laying on the ground ! With wireless options like Meta Quest, I can choose to use wired or wireless, and once i used wireless there was NO way back to wired... i can finally turn like crazy without woring about cables....
They need to just bring these PSVR2 games to PCVR instead of trying to get people onto the PS5. PC PLAYERS DONT WANT TO BUY CONSOLES AND WOULD RATHER MAKE VR MODS FOR GAMES INSTEAD OF BUYING A PSVR2 and a PS5.
I wish the comfort of the PSVR2 was better but I do like that there will be an OLED headset at a affordable price on the PC again since the Samsung Odyssey. The OG Odyssey was the only headset that came comfortable right out of the box with good sounding headphones. I guess this will be that headset to take it's place.

Get a Quest 200 bucks.
A Quest 3 alternative? 😂😂 PSVR2 is going to be the main headset for PCVR
If it had outside-in tracking I would have considered it.

Outside-in really is not necessary these days with how good the inside-out had gotten.

@@inceptional It's impressive and... good, but not as good and I'm not gonna buy something that comes with any downgrades, especially not in one of the most important aspects. Inside-out is ew. Sad how many are sacrificing better tracking. For me it's a deal breaker until it's like Quest Pro controllers but that work and don't cost as much as a headset.
Its a shame the lenses are fresnel
the meta ui features could already be in v65 and just not enabled yet
The PSVR to PCVR adaptor would need to be reasonably priced for people to buy PSVR-2 as a PCVR headset with no intentions of using it with a PS5. If the PSVR-2 HMD had pancake optics, then I could be interested, but after using the Pico 4 and now the Quest 3, I don't think I'll ever buy a Fresnel lens based HMD ever again.

Does anyone fells that sony will release a new revision of psvr2 too?
I just wanted to ask anybody a question. does your pcvr head set cable plug into your ps5 extremly loosely? mine is practically brand new and its barely holding itself in the plug. any fix besides putting a piece of electrical tape on it?

I know exactly what you mean .When I first plugged in my brand new PSVR2 into my PS5 the USB C port on the PS5 hadn't been used yet. However everything seemed to be a bit flimsy and worryingly wobbly ! I Straight away thought "That's going to break if Yanked Out !"So I did a bit of research and found that a USBC Magnetic connector works perfectly. Also I use a 1 Meter USB C to USB C Extention from the PSVR2 to the Mag connector on the PS5 lThis has eliminated any wear and tear on the PS5 USBC port And the PSVR2 Cable from constantly unplugging and replugging (I Like to pack away my PSVR2 After Using it).I know this may not help, But it could be a fairly cheap way to prevent any further damage to your USBC port and cable .Sorry for the long post .I really hope this may help you.Good Luck.
Too little too late. The Quest 3 using Steam Link is the best PCVR.

Lose the dam wire... And then lose the PS5 necessity part and make it stand alone.. Or else, no thanks
I will save money and get it altho the price and me having a quest 3 already probly be better to just upgrade GPU from a 3070ti to the latest GPU better for better performance with VD at that point 😂
Not even close. It's not NATIVE and it's not the CHEAPEST. It's hard to put 2 big bsht in the same titla and yet you did it.
Uhm... Meta Quest supports PCVR, y'know...? And a Quest 2 is dirt cheap these days

quest is not really native pc, but we use it to stream pc to quest
The optics on this is like q2. Hard pass. They know they won't release any games on vr for real so why not extend support they're never gonna use it anyways. Good for the community. Overall still a bad buy
PCVR2 has been my first headset but from what I heard, the Meta Quest 3 lenses are better, so I'm also getting it.

Yep, you'll be disappointed in the Q3. You play Elden Ring with LukeRoss mod? Q3 is almost unplayable in caves. OLED fixes that. With PSVR2 you will see everything in dark areas.

I have both, the pancake lenses are impressive. But it only competes with PSVR2 when using PCVR. When playing quest standalone the PS5 with PSVR2 is so much more powerful than the mobile processor of the Quest 3.
