    Double-handed stitching is easier with the dominant hand under the project. This is a beautiful project, and your stitching is lovely.

    I am glad that you landed on the Diagonal holding stitch for the rock areas. It looks more rocky and textured. the Bayou stitch would look good in other areas I think where the added texture isnt really needed for effect. Great work so far!

    Thanks so much! Yeah, I was nervous about adding texture, but I'm absolutely loving it!

    Beautiful work! Watching this made me want to set aside my cross stitch and learn how to do embroidery but also made me want to work on my cross stitch. 😅

    In my little interlude into needle work in my teens, I remember ready that they wanted me to start from the middle so I think this worked out really well. It is beautiful and a joy to watch.

    i have another idea for an embroidery project, embroider all the Narnia maps, it's what i am planning to do, one for each book, along with a map for Merlin tv show from BBC and a map of the hundred acer woods, and auradon from Disney descendants.

    You read the same way I do! I hear all of the words, and either acknowledge and skip over words I can't pronounce, or make up my own pronunciation (even if it doesn't match the letters in front of me). I haven't heard anyone else describe it this way. My thoughts are also in word form for the most part.

    I don't have experience with this kind of embroidery but when I do cross stitching, which is obviously different from this, I usually just run my thread ends under the stitching. For starting that means i position the loose end between where the needle is going towards the back and back towards the front of the project. For ending I will run my needle under the back stitching.

    I have to watch the making of a frame cuz I need one 😅 I do audio audio audio visual audio reading too - for years I thought the band Depeche mode was called Depressed mode for that reason and it was humbling AF to be corrected after I had gone on for several minutes on about how much of a fan I am 😬😳😅

    Bahahahahahaha oh my goodness, I feel you there! I will confidently pronounce things wrong all the time, and then when someone corrects me, it's like dang now I have to question everything I thought I knew! XD

    I was so honoured my name inspired a whole minute of this video 😭 And then you just didn't stop hahaha 🥹 I love our brainstorm chats - they're SO helpful! And I agree with Rosemarie, double-handed stitching is easier with the dominant hand under the project. I've found that when I can see what my left hand is doing I'm moving it more effectively whereas my right hand doesn't need that visual assistance.

    Hahaha I'm just glad I pronounced it somewhat right... for a 'Murican! XD But yeah, I had originally practiced double-handed stitching with right hand over and under to see if there was a difference, and I didn't notice any, but... maybe that difference comes in how quickly you adjust to it if you keep practicing. And being able to see your non-dominant hand definitely makes sense.

    Same for me with double handed stitching and for "I'm not great with kids." The diagonal stitch looks so neat. I just don't understand the difference between a long stitch with short holding and long and short stitch. Wouldn't it be better than satin? Not talking abiut diagonal pining, it looks really nice.

    Was trying to keep my brain slightly occupied while colouring because it was "boring, and taking too long" to do the design I choose. Very much puts it in perspective.

    Did you do a video for the 100 Acre Woods map? I'm curious how you did the french knots without having threads zig-zagging across the back of the map.

    I always love these updates! And I know the feeling of not wanting to disturb your pet so you're not able to get up! I do have a question, have you tried double hand stitching with your right hand *under* the fabric?

  • @gettheetothestitchery

    @gettheetothestitchery

    I did, originally I tried it in both directions and didn't really notice any difference in speed or comfort. But maybe if I practiced more with the right hand under, it would get there.... if only I could convince myself to take the time! XD
