Yehudi Menuhin Violin Tutorial - 1. The Preparation

Six Lessons with Yehudi Menuhin, the best series of violin video tutorials on technique I've seen. A must see for violinists of all levels.
Forgive the quality, it is an old BBC programme.

What a gentle and sweet man to teach you to play the violin. He knows how to talk to young people, as did Dorothy Delaye . I often wonder what Heifetz was like as a teacher, I am told that although he was a brilliant Violinist that he was a hard person to get on with .

Read the book "Heifetz as I Knew Him", by Ayke Agus. She was a student in his master class, and she was his piano accompanist for several years toward the end of his life. It's not quite a full biography of Heifetz, but it's an outstanding book by a woman who was very close with him near the end of his life. There's quite a few good stories about him as a teacher and as a friend. I highly recommend it.
