The series aired successively over the CBS, ABC, and NBC networks, consistently attracted 16 million viewers to each episode, and won more than 65 awards, including nine Emmys and two Peabody awards.

Yehudi was such a talented violinist. He was also a nice looking man.

I started when I was 40, made money with it at 44.making a living playing violin still at 77. We are all different,and there are mire than one style of violin playing. 😂.I do have and read maestro menuhin books

Because he had NO idea about how violin playing works phisically. Thats why. He was just a genius and he could play marvelously until he was 28. But afterwards it never worked again.

@@leonardoiglesias2394 Oh, he had a pretty good idea of how it works. Also true that he felt he had hit a technique crisis along the way and felt he had to go back and re-focus on a lot of the basics.

He didn't receive rigorous technical training by his teachers Persinger and Enesco when he was young and mostly relied upon his natural abilities. He only studied technique after having an psychological breakdown in the 1940's. He also had physical issues, in particular trembling in both hands that compromised his technique.
He is not correct on the question of vibrato. Vibrato has been so often over-used. Menuhin gets away with it because his vibrato is very narrow. However, in Baroque music vibrato is today kept to a minimum and often not used at all.

That's true. But I believe Menuhin would use vibrato in Baroque music if he found it to be more beautiful. Vibrato is what gives the tone life and warmth, and he was a master of controlling vibrato as an expressive tool.

Vibrato goes in and out of style. It's silly to talk about "correctness".
