Even holding the belt for a month is a big achievement in 2008, around that time many ego maniacs and legends were around, Cena, HHH, HBK, Undertaker, Orton, Batista etc.

Jeff Hardy is my favorite wrestler of all time. Seeing him FINALLY win the big one on Armageddon made so happy man. Also shoutout Punk for cashing in and winning the big gold

Ah 2008 my favorite year of WWE. The year of Hardy😊.

2008 is criminally underrated and gets harsh criticism for turning PG which has nothing to do with the downfall of the product. They still had stars and epic feuds going through that year. What I consider the last greatest year of the company.

2010 was the saddest year Shawn michaels retired Batista quit Triple h became a part timer Undertaker became a part timer John cena started burying everyone(nexus) Anonymous gm Randy orton started to feel like a midcarder Cool midcarders like matt hardy, mvp,carlito,shad, and finlay where also out by the end of the year

Jeff and Matt won their first World Champs, Obama became our first black president, GTA 4 released and The Dark Knight premiered. What a year.

To me this was the final year of WWE in its prime. The PG era had begun to take over but it wasn't fully involved in every decision made. Cena wasn't completely Super Cena just yet. The HBK v Y2J feud was absolutely amazing. Orton was moving from legend killer to viper. Jeff Hardy FINALLY reached the mountain top. And most importantly, Santino Marella was the highlight of the night every single time he was on screen. "The honky tonky maneeee"

@@longboy7 that's why I said "completely". It was definitely starting/had started, but I wouldn't say it was at its full blown level just yet. I'd say 2008 was the last year before Cena became the golden one in the companies eyes. Before than he was booked extremely strong but when they flipped the switch to bring him to face of the company aka Hogan level, that's when it got ridiculous.

It was a banner year for WWE. All PPV ranges from good to great. Iconic moment like the Flair retirement and That Cena pop. Elite feuds like Jericho-HBK and Edge-Taker. One of the best single year in WWE ever?

I started watching a year before, but this is when it peaked for me. Edge and the undertaker were my favorites, so that rivalry was just magic to me as a kid. And yeah it was the start of the PG era, but the PG era those first 2 years weren’t the same PG era it became

Mark Henry did NOT retain at Unforgiven, it was Matt Hardy who won and also defended against Mark Henry

John Cena finally facing Batista at Summer Slam was a great encounter. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho's feud was the best part of 2008 IMO.

Great work on this Year and review video Andy this was one of WWE's last great years before 2010 which was a crappy year things don't get better after 2009 they get worse 2008 was the truly the last year of good wrestling!

Just a minor correction. HBK vs. Y2J at Unforgiven wasn't the catalyst to McMahon banning blading. It was their Great American Bash match prior that was the tipping point to WWE turning PG.

Was just starting 6th grade around this time 😂😂 the original Xbox 360 the will early days of PlayStation 3 11 years old at the time them going pg at the time really didn't bother me it wasn't even bad at first there were still some pretty interesting storylines going down around this time idk why everyone acts like it's the worst thing ever

In many ways, 2008 was the final "great" year for WWE. While 2009 had it's moments, it was never truly the same company after this

You didnt mention the fact that Jeff Hardy, was originally in the triple threat at Survivor Series. But a mystery person assaulted him in the stairwell and a returning Edge, was his replacement by Vickie.

If stone cold didnt get prematurely injured in ss 97, i wonder how long steve would go in his prime beyond 2002.

2008 and 2009 is by far my favorite years it was real WWE i still remember when jeff defeated undertaker in november and winning the wwe champion in december 2008

A lot of this is inaccurate. Kane was drafted to raw, not smackdown. The match for unforgiven showed cena in the scramble but Rey mysterio replaced him, and cena was injured at summer slam by Batista. He wasn’t just out of the title picture for no reason and saved for survivor series.

The year I began watching WWE full time. I can’t believe next month will mark 15 years since Jeff Hardy won the WWE Championship.

Triple H was the only Champion to defend their title in the Scramble matches at Unforgiven. Mark Henry would ultimately lose his ECW Chanpionship to Matt Hardy in theirs.

Agreed, for me 2008 was the last decent year that WWE would have until the Sheild boys got over in 2014.

Great year for ppvs. And solid year to end the ruthless aggression era and phase in the pg era. A shame that 2009 (at least post wrestlemania) just ruined raw
