When I was reading the ability, the "Luminous Broodmoth" comes to my mind. It should (if i'm not mistaken) create copy if other legendary creature and return the original back to battlefield with flying counter.

If a creature you control without flying were to die, return it to the battlefield under your control with a flying counter on it - Luminous Broodmoth Now there is nightmare shepherd, which allows you to exile a creature when it dies to make a 1/1 nightmare token copy version of the removed card.

@@dajanitator9428 the legend rule must be satisfied immediately upon token creation, that states that all the unkept versions of your legendary creature are put into graveyards, not exiled. They won't deal combat damage, but they will etb and die. They don't live long enough to be exiled from the myriad effect

Disgusting... I love it.

If you lean heavily in death triggers a possible risky include is Heartless Summoning. The 2/2 tokens die right away so you double-down on death triggers. Also, if a key card in your 99 that includes blue, Leyline of Singularity means even the tokens are legendary so when they die will trigger to replace themselves.

I think every MTG youtuber misspronounces the names more often than not, but they are just too weird. The easy ones are like Asmoranocadaistinaculdacar

Yeah, that would likely be it, as that would be even more powerful and even be an infinite loop. Example, let the creature remain legendary, then go with anything to double the tokens you get, I'll go with my personal favourite of Anointed Procession. Get out Kokusho, kill it, drain everyone for 5, this makes a Kokusho token, AP doubles it, Legend rule kicks in, one dies, drain everyone for 5, this gives another token, AP doubles it, Legend rule kills 2 now, drain everyone for 10, which brings you to the Standard starting total, this kicks in twice, get 2 more tokens, AP makes it 4, Legend rule kills 4 tokens, drain everyone for 20, that's now everyone's starting total in Commander, and it just keeps ramping up to drain lifegain decks too. And actually, to make matters worse, you don't even need Kokusho. None of those abilities are optional. You have to create a token when a legendary creature dies, you have to double it (even if its done with Teysa), and the Legend rule has to bring you down to one, making it an uncontrolled infinite and forcing a draw instead with 2 cards, 3 if you count the legendary creature that sets it off. Much better to make it really powerful by not making the token legendary and avoid the Legend rule being what makes it go infinite. Though there are still ways to go infinite with it, just not as easily.

Thought so too... But then you need a lot of legendarys in Dane's deck. However you can also try to build one Dane without legendarys and Mirror Mockery and Followed Footsteps, that really play well with his "ninjutsu" style of play.

I think an everchanging dane deck based on trying to get Ratadrabik and then copying him to get exponential would be pretty fun (since WB has very limitted copying options)

Two cards you missed for sure Mitch, gisa glorious reanimator and lorcan warlock collector both let you snatch creatures from your opponent and make tokens when they die if they are legendary.

I don't think Lorcan would work for the token part because it makes it so all your warlocks get exiled and don't die.

Wouldn't it be a great synergy with Myrkul, Lord of Bones, with both on the field you create both a creature token version and a token enchantment version, and with it being in black white and green it allows you to get all the great token doubling of green and white

Ratadabrik is everything she needed

1 Ratadrabik, 1 Anointed procession, and 8 teysa karlov nets you 512 tokens. Just figured id do the math for the hypothetical scenario. (That's per creature token you would make. For each other death trigger, 8 teysa would give you 256 copies of that trigger.)

Going straight in my Esika legendary tribal deck.

If you have a way to make token copies of legendary creatures, the legendary rule will activate, and correct me if I’m wrong but you’ll then get a ratadrabik copy, so if you have a way to copy creature’s (especially ratadrabik itself) and have a number of them on the field without having to worry about graveyard shenanigans, again idk if that’s how it’d work or if it’d be a worthwhile strategy, but I feel that that could be a niche worth exploring (I have work so I couldn’t watch the video, it may have been covered in the video already, but I’m not sure)

Play mirrage mirror, pay 4 (because ward 2) to make the mirror a copy of commander. Legendary Rule activates and we must sacrifice one. I think it would be best to sacrifice the original. the mirror's ability would trigger and we would get a copy of the commander. depending how much mana we have we can recast our commander some number of times, sacc him instantly for more non-legendary copies. If Teysa Karlov is out, we're getting two copies of the commander each time. If Teysa and Annointed Procession is out, we're getting 4 copies of the commander each time. make a bunch of commanders, then start sacrificing creatures on our board to get a TON of copies.

That would be a rather complicated combo, but it could work. With him as your Commander, I can find 3 ways. Let him go to the graveyard, then cast Assemble From Parts (1 drop black instant. Target creature card in your graveyard perpetually gains "3B, exile this card from your graveyard: Shuffle it into your library. Create a token that's a copy of it, except its a 4/4 black Zombie in addition to its other types. Activate only as a sorcery."), then activate the new ability to get a token. Bring him back out, kill him or the token, get the trigger, have a non-token version of him. If you want more, easiest would be Populate effects, otherwise you have to let him die again so you can use his new ability (since it is perpetual), which means dealing with Commander Tax. Have Seance out (2WW Enchantment - At the beginning of each upkeep, you may exile target creature card from your graveyard. If you do, create a token that's copy of that card, except its a Spirit in addition to its other types. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step), let him go to the graveyard, target him next upkeep, exiling returns him to the Command Zone, get a token copy of him. Now you have two options. One is to bring him back out, kill the token, get the trigger, and get a non-token version of him. You can let him die and repeat this, but it either needs to be your turn to bring him out again, or you need a sac outlet to sacrifice the token before it exiles itself. Or you can have a token doubler, like a Populate effect, letting you get 2 tokens from Seance, one dying to the Legend rule and getting 2 tokens from the trigger. The token you get from doubling should remain past the end step, unlike the one from Seance itself, thanks to the wording of the effect. Once again, Populate is your best option for getting more, but you can just let him go to the graveyard again to target him with Seance and repeat it, but you will need to deal with Commander Tax. Final option, attack with him and activate Nemesis Trap (4BB Instant - Trap - If a white creature is attacking, you may pay BB rather than pay Nemesis Trap's mana cost. Exile target attacking creature. Put a token that's a copy of that creature onto the battlefield. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.) Once again, exiling it returns it to the Command Zone, so you can recast it before your end step, kill the token before it exiles, and get your non-token copy. Or another token doubling effect will work, with the duped token not exiling itself during the end step and instantly triggering the Legend rule to get your non-legendary token and keep the Legendary one. Bring him back out later to get another non-legendary token, or just use token doubling to get more. Unlike the other two, however, you can't repeat the effect for more legendary tokens, so bringing him out again is the last time you can get a non-legendary token of him with the help of the Legend rule. You'll need a sac outlet and Commander Tax to bring him out and kill him more. Or, again, just use token doubling effects like Populate, so much easier. This is much easier with access to other colours, like outside of Commander or with him in the 99. Blue has so many Clone effects you can use, even just Clone itself, as it enters as a copy of Ratadrabik, dies to the Legend rule, gets you a non-legendary token of Ratadrabik. Or do Infinite Reflection on him and all your non-token creatures become copies of him, creating more and more non-legendary tokens of him as they die. Red also works. And I forgot to consider colourless ones, some of which might actually be easier than above like Soul Separator or Mirage Mirror. Oddly enough, green doesn't have any cloning effects I can find, but would obviously be great for the doubling effects. But again, that's with him in the 99.

I was hoping for a good Orzhov legend to fit in my Prava and Nadier tokens deck. And this is it!

Another good card: Cultist of the Absolute. Keep getting those death triggers during every one of your turns and make your commander harder to deal with.

The first thing I thought of that wasn't covered was myriad blade of selves or Legion loyalty to make three copies of a legendary creature that died by legendary rule and they get replaced with non legendary versions and you still have the original to make more copies on the future attack

actually I think it will break even worse if you make 3 copes you have to sacrifice all but 1 (I would axctually sacrifice the original tbh so I can have it in command zone for later) so you would sacrifice 3 then for each sacrifice you would get 3 triggers from each of the other 3 'since they all die at the same time, they all see each other dying, same way you can have ETB effect stack up when multiple creatures enter from a single effect), you'd end up with 10 ratadrabik. 10 !!!! Even if you get boardwiped, as long as it's destruction effects you'd actually pop up MORE creatures than before the boardwipe (you still have 1 legendary ratadbarik so if you get boardwipe you'd pop out 9 new tokens xD)

But you might want to keep them alive, for a while... and there's plenty of sacrifice outlets still. And one sided Token smothering. And with Mikaeus the Unhallowed, not even Virulent plague would kill them. And What's better than 2/2 copies of your legendary creatures, well 3/3 copies of your legendary creatures, and if Mikaeus happens to die with Teysa on the board, 4/4 copies of your legendary creatures. This deck is the opposite of Group Hug decks.

That would be great in my 5c keyword soup deck with Sisay Weather light Captain getting Odric and other legendary creatures with multiple keywords. Rata only has one keyword, but he's great wrath and removal protection.

I think is the best use for this card, beeing in the 99 of Sisay in response to a boardwipe, alongside Gerrard, Yorion and Ashaya (for cyclonic rift)

Definitely add Disturbed Burial to get creatures from your grave back to your hand. It even has Buyback 3, which means if you have the mana for it, you can keep getting your stuff back!

Gotta see a budget deck build of this soon.

I think the most broken part about this Commander is the fact that the trigger doesn’t exile to make the token

It can actually copy Token Legendary creatures. They'd either have to specify the tokens were non-legendary or that it doesn't trigger off tokens or it would be even more broken.

My mates gonna love this gor his zombie deck. Difficult to remove one off commander protection.

If the token it makes was also a legendary creature, since it doesn't say "nontoken" it would continuously trigger from the tokens it makes. Honestly that is the line of text it probably needed instead.

They could've let it trigger on whenever another nontoken legend creature dies and just make a copy. Removing legendary status is THE way so it wouldn't loop. Just like most token producing death triggers that make token excluden token from the death trigger to prevent loops. Some cards e.g. carte about angels dying and then make spirits so it can work on tokens but still doesn't loop by itself.

My favorite color combination just got a lot better.

if you clone it and then sacrifice the original one for the legendary rule then it will come back as non legendary and you'll have both the copy and original one on the field (since the original wont be legendary anymore) and then you will have a board that's extremely hard to deal with (and also you'll multiply your cards when they die) I mean with myriad (which is probably the only way of getting copies of creatures in WB) you'd get 3 copies + the origina, you then have to sacrifice all but 1 you sacrifice 3, each of the other 3 sees them dying so you would get 9 token (+1 you didn't sacrifice) which means you now have 10 Ratadrabik of Urborg and every time a legend dies you get 10 of it (you still have 1 legendary Ratadrabik of Urborg at that point) enjoy the shenanigans PS : if the token was legendary in this case you would get stuck in a loop of returning and sacrificing ad nauseam because you'd have always multiple tokens coming back with multiple triggers going out etc, that's why they made the token nonlegendary

weird setup but if you have leyline of singularity and this in play it still makes the tokens legendary. because it doesn't specify nontoken you may be able to have infinite etbs and ltbs with a sack outlet and this commander. the only issue is the leyline is blue. also i may be wrong so please have mercy. also can someone at least confirm this?

He’s definitely going in my Dihada deck.

It says when ever another legendary creature dies. The trigger doesn’t work for Ratadrabik only other legendaries.

With the LOTR release this deck now also has the wonderful Boromir infinite sack outlet. This happens because when he enters the battlefield he tempts the ring. The ringbearer then becomes legendary. When paired with a token doubler, it ends the game.

Wait what happens wehre you put blade of selves on him? Do the myriad token copies, when they die to the legend rule, trigger his ability? Do they trigger eachother's ability?

Two things missed: In the deck: There is an Aura that turns enchanted creature legendary: On Serra's Wings. You just need any sacrifice outlet like: Altar of Dementia, get your commander out and cast Boonweaver Giant to search for On Serra's Wings. The loop should be self explanatory. in the 99 or even in modern: Pair Ratadrabik with Ley-Line of Singularity to infinit loop every other creature dying no matter the status. Basicly as easily loopable as painter servant, teysa (1s) and any sacrifice outlet. And if you have the Mirror Box in addition to that you can even get multiples out later. But just get Ley-Line of Singularity out with this and sacrifice Death Cultist over and over as a returning legendary is pretty much game ending.

@GruulGuy hey not laughing at you mate but at my own misreading , all I said was orzhov finally got something new and exciting but orzhov has always been strong and a very intriguing color combination but maybe not got much love lately in terms of cards that are new and/or different (my personal opinion).

With mondrak and myriad, one swing with mondrak and you literally create a stupid amount of copies of him because myriad creates 1 token copy targeting each other player, and with mondrak on the field it turns into 2 attacking each player instead. Legendary clause happens and you have to sacrifice 4 of the 5 mondraks. Blade of selves and legion loyalty are a must in this deck

All 4 would be sacrifice at the same time so the first trigger would give you 2 more going to 3, then the second trigger would be 8 going to 11, the 3rd should then be 2048 going to 2059 mondraks and you still have 1 more trigger

Depending on what you sac, that would actually be a very bad combo for you. His effect isn't optional, so anything that returns from the graveyard, anything that doubles his effect or doubles tokens, and many other options would be an uncontrolled loop, resulting in a draw. You'd have to be very careful what you play and what you sac

Any bets as to how many other commanders in the set will have “anointed procession” be a top card? Wish wizards would reprint that card into the ground…

Really cool enchantment known as dawn of the dead every upkeep get your legend of chouce back sac it and repeat for the profits.

So, 8 Tessa's would allow for 256 tokens at a time? 2-4-8-16-32-64-128-256... as seen in arena, it doubles each time, so... yeah. That would be a LOT of tokens :P

Ratadrabik would be gross in a myrkul deck, not only can a legendary creature die, youll get the non-legendary token then exile the card and get an enchantment token version as well, with teysa, or trigger doubling thats brutal with etb. Trigger stacking is gonna be crazy as heck.

Did you think of the disgusting things you can do when you're in WUB and clone him? The clones being legendary get sacrificed as a state based action and Ratadrabik triggers creating a non legendary copy. Now let's say you have him and 5 random creatures (e.g. zombie tokens), next you play Sakashima's Will choosing Ratadrabik - what happens - you have 6 legendary Ratadrabik, so you legend rule 5 of them, triggering the ability a total of 25 times to create 25 2/2 non-legendary Ratadrabik. Now you might say but what if an opponent wraths the board - well since you still have one legenday the 25 token copies trigger off of him and create 25 new token copies.

Other (notably high mana) scenario... If you had Teysa killed coming back as 2 zombie Teysa's, you could cast Sakashima's Will on her and maybe with 4 generics... You must have your Commander on the Command zone or hand... Then you play your commander and a creature like Kokusho, the Evening Star and sacrifice him with a phyrexian althar for excample... Well you get 6x5 damage from the initial sacrifice and then you get 7 zombie Kokusho's out of Ratadrabik and sacrifice them as well. Thats a total of 8x6x5=240 damage on each opponent and if you have 3 opponents thats 720 life you gain... An absolute dream play, but possible lmao. Edit: This would actually do more damage then saccing Kokusho with 25 Ratadrabik's which would do 25*5=125 damage which is still a ton...

Yes, this is a good commander for a powerful aristocrats deck... almost all of the cards in it could be, too, would still be extremely powerful. I don't really think it's out of ine with any of them. If anything, it might be worse than Teysa.

Blade of selves on kokusho with this baddy in play is insane. Oh I'll make three other kokusho, they see all of the others as being legendary, die, drain and then oops I'll make three more kokushos lol

But those last Kokushos won't be legendary and won't be attacking, so its not really much better than Kokusho and Blade of Selves already is, not without a sac outlet.

@@Kahadi myriad tokens retain the legendary type and due to the legendary rule would all have to be sacrificed and all trigger. As they die since they still are legendary, you get three 2/2 kokusho tokens that are not legendary

i can see this getting put in mythic like dockside

I think you can play zombie tribal but if you want to bake a combo with legends in there it's spicy

... if you summon a legendary copy and it dies because only one of the legendaries are allowed on board at a time, would the dead copy still spawn a 2/2 zombie token with this Commander?

Yes. The commander does NOT say "nontoken." It just says Legendary.

does Leyline of Singularity, Ratadrabik of Urborg, Junji the Midnight Sky win the game?

orzhov colours will make this deck a little slow potentially... i can also see issues of either getting stopped from ever playing the game by other players that are afraid of what you can do or managing to go off and finnishing the game literally on the spot (thereby justifying other players removing you from the game before you get to play) but i can see making copes of wierd black and white cards could make for a fun deck that has lots of ways to play the game... this card seems pretty cool!

The reason Ratadrabik creates non-legendary tokens, is that she doesn't care if the creature that died was a token. Don't want to get stuck in a permanent loop of a legendary token dying due to the legendary rule. E.g. if you have Ratadrabik and Junji, the Midnight Sky in play and play a second copy of Junji, if the token created was legendary, it'd be an instant win as it creates an infinite loop. As I read it, that means any legendary affected by myriad is recreated, which can make for some really interesting ETB effects. It also means that the tokens can be targeted by Reflection of Kiki-Jiki and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. I do have an unrelated question. What happens if you have a legendary land, enchantment or artefact and it is turned into a creature and then dies - does that create a token copy?

Regarding your question at the end, yes, you get a token copy of it, just like with Myriad. It was a creature when it died, so it triggers his effect. But the tokens will be like the original, not creatures, unless influenced by the same effect.

Never more have I wanted to create a Zombie deck that isn’t based around a bunch of zombie cards but juicy legendary creature cards, rofl!

populate would be nuts. if you have a Teysa as a token and populate it over and over again, when a legendary dies, oh gosh. Yosei would be so mean too. Cast three spells with Song of the Worldsoul out and none of your opponents are untapping.
