Literally NO ONE could stop this man one on one. Forever wishing we could’ve seen him and McGrady play a few fully healthy seasons together. Edit: my family got to see the back to back Hakeem Championships. I was born in 96 and grew up with Yao and McGrady among others like Shane Battier, Louis Scola, Chuck Hayes, Rafee Alston, Aaron Brooks, and then eventually Dwight Howard and Harden. Love my Rockets and the legacy from Calvin Murphy to the 2023 fellas that are next up. Sengun, Green and VanVleet🚀

Yao would have at least 1 ring were it not for injuries. The 2009 Rockets team was one of the best of all time, including the championship squads and the 2018 Rockets that took the Warriors 7 games. That season, Tmac got injured before the play-offs and Yao carried them past Portland in the first round. It was then on to Kobe's Lakers, and he was having his way with them. Then he got injured... and the Rockets led by Ron Artest and Aaron Brooks still managed to take Kobe 7 games. I have no doubt with a healthy Tmac and Yao, the Rockets wouldn't have lost more than 2 games all play-offs.

In his prime, he had a 43.5 inch vertical, which is among the top, most impressive, and highest verticals in the history of the game. Andre Miller is a completely different story. He was never considered a particularly explosive or athletic player. Moreover, Nate Robinson is the only player to ever win the NBA dunk contest 3 times, which is a testament to his exceptional leaping ability. Whereas Andre Miller, in his 16 year career, barely has any memorable highlight dunks. Miller's leaping abilities are less than stellar, to say the least. I doubt the guy has even dunked more than 15 times in his entire 16 year career. Of course you expect high flyers like Vince Carter, T-Mac, Jason Richardson, Desmond Mason, and Josh Smith to try. I'd even expect smaller guards like Baron Davis, Steve Francis, and Antonio Daniels to try... but a guard like Andre Miller, who lacks the athletic abilities of the aforementioned players, expecting to dunk on Yao is a nice, little fairytale.

Yao was a special and exceptionally skilled baller. Very unfortunate that injuries derailed his career.

Yao used a great fadeaway and a hook shot to score so many of his baskets. He was a great scorer because of his ability to get deep position on the block. By the time the defender realized it, Yao would seal them under the rim and have a bunny. He was so fun to watch, guy was just completely unstoppable one on one. I miss watching him play.

He will still hold the best Asian player to play in the NBA for a long period of time.

Yao Ming made sky hooks with dream shake You couldn’t even hack-a-shaq because he shot free throws so well

Ming had some lessons with Hakeem I believe as he was taught some post play. Even in his injured time in the league ming still made it as a great center for the rockets, and somehow was only their 3rd best center of all time. It’s insane to think that. And when he was healthy he was one scary team to play against

Great foot work, buttery smooth shooting form, strong and not skinny or lanky, 110% hustle. Dude was ahead of his time, would be amazing in todays NBA top 10 mvp voting with todays health a medicine would have made those injuries less severe.
