Just bought a 535 (my first bike in 30 years) and I’m terrified of it, I know it’s just a case of getting back into it but everything seems so much scarier than when I was in my 20’s!

They are less terrifying than women though 🤣 Keep at it, go for short rides till you're feeling a bit more comfortable then go a bit further. I'm sure you'll be out for a whole tank in now time. Welcome back to the biking world.

3.20 in and i noticed the red mist came on.😂🤘🤘 Hows she riding now? Looking and sounding great. Mine keeps throwing little problems at me but i can always negotiate with her.🙂

No red most from me, I waved them on earlier then just tried to keep up hahahaha there was no chance. What little problems are you getting? She's running pretty good but got back from a ride yesterday and there was an eggy catalytic converter smell, turns out the battery was boiling, hissing and about to pop, it's swollen and distorted. I think the reg/rec packed in and overcharged the battery. Not ideal when the fuel pipes run across the top of the battery 😬

@@tanddy feckin hell, when I picked up my bike 2 June I had a funny smell coming from my bike. Exactly the same. Battery about to pop as rectifier shot. Fortunately I had a spare from my fzr 600.. think I got a rectifier for about £16 off eBay. Works a treat plus I got a cheap led voltmeter so I can keep an eye on voltage from now on. I would well recommend it. As for how mine is running....ok. had another tickle with the carbs and good power but I can feel a flat spot mid range. Over winter I'm gonna take em off for a bloody good going over. Ride safe fella.

@@tanddy and as you say about bloated battery mine pushed the battery case into exhaust manifold melting the battery case. 😵‍💫

@@richieiommi I first noticed the smell miles from home stopped at lights but thought it was the cat of the that passed, never smelled it again till I got home. I've got a batter, rectifier and some thermal paste coming today, may as well use the cover as a heat sink. I took a voltmeter off the bike when I got it, I might buy a new one though now that you mention it. My battery box has already been repaired as it's melted at some point in the passed, I'm going to stick a metal sheet on it to help keep the heat away from the battery. Your flat spot could be the pilot jet/screw, I have the same so have been tweaking the screw a little at a time and it's getting better. Once back together I'll get her out to tweak some more then she is getting a rest for a while and the VFR can come out to play again.

@@tanddy I must admit after the flat spot she goes like a rocket. Almost two stroke feel. Had a cheeky ride out this evening and hitting 85 easily. Hopefully gonna get a helmet cam soon and I can put up a few clips. Ride safe.🤘

I am planning on buying this soo as my first cruiser since i mostly drove sport bikes so i am kinda curious on how well this bike performance plus how much does it consume

Unfortunately you might be a bit underwhelmed by the performance if you are used to superbikes. this is a second bike for me and is a bit of a fun project really. I haven't really checked for MPG as I just fill the tank every 100 miles and carry on.

@@tanddy yeah I am aware when it comes down to speed it won't be the same excitement as a sportbikes but if I can travel in it and be comfortable while doing so then why not

It's an aftermarket one (possibly old black widow as it looks the same) but I've punched the baffles out.
