Just picked up a 2006 and I love it. Had to get used to the snappy throttle, but otherwise just bonded with it instantly. The only flaw on mine is that the tachometer moisture issue burned the neutral light out. Having grown up on dirt bikes with zero lights and meters, this isn't a concern, but I carry a gallon size Ziploc freezer bag with 4 small, strong magnets inside so I can put a magnet in each corner of the bag and stick it to the gas tank, covering the tachometer whenever the bike's going to be out in the rain. Seems to work like a charm, so far.

Fantastic fix. How brilliant. It's interesting that the neutral light hasn't shorted the main fuse. I've had the neutral light rub against the suffrage on my klr650 and short out the main fuse. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this insightful video. You broke alot of the technical facts down in a way that i could follow. I'm a shadetree bike mechanic so while i understand what alot of the things do i don't know the terms or specifics without looking up the individual thing in my hand. I've been on the fence between the vulcan 2000 from kawasaki, the vtx1800 from honda and the roadliner. If you can't tell I'm looking for a roadking/heritage type bike without the price and issues that come with those two bikes. I think you sold me on the roadliner. Three vtx was eliminated because it's shaft drive. I adore chain drive and can tolerate and ignore the a belt drive. For me it's the oil cooling system and the (I'm not going to butcher that Japanese brand name) EFI throttle body system you were talking about. The handling and power differences between the vulcan and the roadliner to me were negligible. The five mph differences in top speed and the half inch in lean angle were all fine and i don't really care about trim packages since i strip everything off for storage right off the bat and ride bare bones. The efficiency of the 1900 and cooling factors will be the biggest benefit to me for my type of trips. Midwest to the south and the west coast. This will soak up that abuse with less wear and my turn key reliability in the vastly different climates will be better than the vulcan. Starting my bike every morning for work is easy to ask for but starting at a camp sight in a desert basin one day and then up top a forested mountain two days later with no issues is a whole other ask. It sounds like for what it's worth the roadliner will be a better companion than the vulcan. Thanks man, I've got a few leads and I'm cleanings up some maintenance and undoing some mods for my trade in this spring. I should be getting on one in the next 3 months. It's going to be so much better on the interstates than my 500 pound 50 horsepower carbed cruiser I've been running all around. Adjusting carbs when your trying to keep on a time schedule has been getting frustrating even though I've gotten fast at it.

Amazing bikes, I bought my 2008 in 2021 and have put over 25k miles on it (pushing 50k overall)... Roadliner/Stratoliner -- 2006-2014 ... Raiders were made from 2006-2017. Lots of variations out there, I'm preferential to the 'Deluxe' models with batwing fairing and maint-matched hard saddle bags (officially a factory model from 2010-2014... many, including the previous owner of my bike, used factory accessories to make their standard 'Liners in to Deluxe models. Also of course, many aftermarket batwings and bags out there. Can be hard to tell what's factory and what's not if you don't know what you're looking at (as it is with many used bikes of course). Great community of 'Liner owns all over the internet as well.

Had a woman pull out in front of me last year, barely managed to swerve and avoid her...went back to view the gopro footage and she had just the most far off look on her face, didn't even seem like she was mentally present. In engine design, the penta engine (or penta head) is an arrangement of the upper portion of the cylinder and valves that is common in engines using four valves per cylinder. Among the advantages is a faster burn time of the air-fuel mix. It is similar in concept to the hemi engine, both in design and purpose, but a hemispherical cylinder head is limited to only two valves without the use of a more complex sub-rocker assembly.

I don't disagree that water cooled engines last longer. I too am a fan of Hondas.

50k and done?? BS. These big 1900s do 100k without issue. Note they are air AND oil cooled.

Built Great, Lasts Long and the Favored of V-Twin Riders. Yes Water Cooled is Nice, but these bikes will last more miles than the Rider, it also has a over temp shut off, which only reaches that temp when idling in neutral sitting still.
