Yamaha MT-10 2022 Review - New Master of Torque!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The #Yamaha #MT10 is one of those #motorcycles that never seems to grow up. You spot them on the road all the time, and with its #transformer styling front and centre, it really is a hard bike to ignore.
After what seems like a lifetime though, the venerable MT-10 is getting a serious makeover for 2022. They say that good things come to those who wait, so we headed to Malaga for a razz on the massively revised 2022 Yamaha Mt-10, to see if the bike lived up to the pre-launch hype.

    @@visordown That was a really good review. You really emphasize what a true naked bike should be. Finally, Yamaha made a true MT naked bike. Perfomance wise & really looks so lit. A really proper Supernaked bike. Its like Mask Rider Black's bike if you know that character. Along with the Ducati Streetfighter & Aprilia Touno. These 3 naked bikes are the best at the moment as it has the true inpiration & appearance wise of a naked bike. 👌

    Yamaha wasn't going for aesthetic beauty. This design and the design of the whole MT line is the Dark Side of Japan. You know, where all the drunks, murderers, drug dealers, prostitutes, and political criminals hang out. This bike is supposed to look like nothing else on the market, instantly recognizable as a Yamaha MT bike. Which of course people want you to think is a modern problem. Because back in the 90's, 2000's, and 2010's you couldn't tell the difference between other brands of Japanese bikes. They all looked identical because they were pretty. Now, because brands need distinction, they need to be made ugly. Actually more than likely the real issue here is a younger generation of people have taken over the Yamaha manufacturing company in Japan who have zero mindset that the older generation before them had, which if you take a look at the very OLD and DUSTY photographs back in the OLD and DUSTY internet way back a million years in 2005, Yamaha motorcycles were absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry, but beautiful things are forever. Ugly is also forever. You cannot tell me or anyone that ugly is beautiful or beautiful is ugly. These are just universal facts.

  • @dmac7660
    @dmac76602 жыл бұрын

    Excellent review! The comments are spot on - at least from my perspective as an MT10 owner. The statement about the horsepower is especially accurate. The 160+ hp MT10 has a more forceful pull in the midrange compared to the 200 hp R1. The R1 pulls harder in the top end compared to the the MT10 but that top end power has not been lost in the MT10 engine - it has been transferred to the mid-range. For a street rider this is a definite win. Sure the MT10 will go very fast, but with the upright sitting position it isn't very fun for a prolonged period. Pulling out of a fast sweeping corner in 3rd and feeling that incredible pull while the front wheel lofts is where this bike shines. It also doesn't hurt that Yamaha's bikes are very reliable compared to some of the more exotic brands. I've owned many bikes and the MT10 is my favourite.

    According to the website the tank size is still 4.5 gallons for 2022, though claimed MPG went from 30mpg to 35mpg for 2022. This means a theoretical 157 mile range, up from 135 miles in 2021. To me the lack of range was the biggest shortcoming of the bike. If fuel mileage is actually improved, that is helpful, but another gallon in the tank would be much appreciated as well.

    i watch... all the bike review videos, and this is a good one. keep it up. in the description it says you see these bikes all the time. i've never seen a single MT anything, and i would have noticed if i had. i've seen one Z900, one SV650, and everything else i've ever seen out in the wild is either a cruiser or a sportbike. they say naked is the fastest growing segment, but from what i've seen myself, they still have a LONG way to go. i agree about the 160hp thing. i don't think i even need that much to be perfectly happy. i'm considering a Street Triple RS as my next bike. i think the newest version is, for me, the perfect balance of everything i want a bike to be. well, except for looks, i suppose. the whole headlight area is not great, but not flat out bad like it was for a while.

The MT10 makes a brilliant sports tourer, so lets hope Yamaha step up to the mark. If I were to upgrade my 2020 model, would I be able to fit my Hepco pannier brackets? It doesn't look like it, as the rear subframe is now completely faired in with no mounting points visible. The reason people ask about fuel economy is because the previous version drank through gas like a starving camel. In the segment, and for the amount of power it made, it was seriously 10 miles per gallon less than the non-crossplane 4 cylinder competition. So basically you were paying a lot more in fuel cost just to have a different sound.

    Gorgeous looking bike, especially the styling of the ram air. As far as Ducati, 200 hp is fun and you get to brag that you've got a Ducati. Then, at the end of the year, when you compare receipts for the upkeep, I'll just laugh and say thanks for being so friendly to my wallet Yamaha. Like he says, it's a naked bike, no wind protection, so you're not going to be going 180 mph to even care about the extra hp. With these style bikes, lower rpm grunt is where you'll spend most of your time.

    God it is f**k ugly. I was one of the few that LOVED the original gen's angular transformer face. But these "painted on eyebrows" don't do it for me. Better fuel economy and a TFT would be nice, but I think I'll get a lightly used gen 1 and use the savings for a system, flash, and better brake pads.
